Love love this place! The cream of spinach soup amazing! Never disappointed with anything I order. To top it off I’m always greatest with a smile. Thanks guys.

Great croissant sandwich. Before you hit Cabrillo, stop by here. Great smell of the bread and just to hang out. Wifi available and it’s pretty quiet on a Sunday.

The menu has changed at lot, and not in a good way. We went for the grilled cheese and PB&J(gourmet style) but they don’t seem to have it anymore. We ended up getting the turkey and everything about it was bland. It was quite a drive for us, so it’s unlikely we’d return.

I just went here on Sunday. I’ve been before and just am not all that impressed. They still look like they are under construction with the walls not even finished. The sandwich I got was good, i will say that, however they were SOCHINCY with the turkey! There was barely any in there and I was hungry an hour later. I would have liked the sandwich to look like it was worth the $ 7 I paid for it. Additionally, the bottled Snapple drinks we got were warm and there was only one variety of chips available. It just makes it look like a fly by night sandwich shop. I think this place has the potential to be a good sandwich shop, but I won’t be back until they pull themselves together.

Awesome staff, always friendly and attentive, subtle good music, free wifi, fresh bread, and interesting sandwiches. If you like something healthy and filling, get a chicken pesto, if you feel like spoiling yourself a little, try the midnight challah.

I used to go when it was Charlie’s Best Breads and still the breads, pastries and coffees are formidable. The transition has been very smooth and you don’t even realize the name change. I like to stop by when going to the Point Loma farmers market to get some breakfast. Very pleasant atmosphere, nice flowers on each table, always clean bathrooms outside the entrance and very good service in general. If you miss good pastries, this is a great place to get your cravings in order.

Excellent breakfast, lunch, coffee and of course, the best breads! My boyfriend and I start nearly every weekend adventure we embark upon at PLB&B. We eat breakfast at the bistro and order sandwiches to go for lunch! Wait staff is always pleasant and I have yet to have a dish that I haven’t liked. Their homemade breads are awesome, the rosemary bread being my favorite. Also a great place for Mexican mocha or hot chocolate. The name may have changed but the quality remains the same!

So my friend convinced me to try this place after she attended a Jet Ski tour trip with SD Bay Adventures and was given these sandwiches as part of the tour. she loved them! and, for good reason. I don’t go out much in point loma, but this place is a must try. They have a full breakfast menu, and their sandwiches are fabulous! I had a grilled Panini Swiss cheese, ham, Dijon mustard, roasted chicken, bacon and garlic aioli, it was phenomenal. Very cheesy and definitely grilled to perfection… stuff it with chips and its one of the greatest sandwiches you ever ate. lol They also have a wine special(2 glasses for 5 dollar… I think?) I love that they have fresh baked chibatta bread that you can purchase, I love carbs! fyi… Monday they are only open till 3!

I must remark on the ridiculously smooth, unnoticed transition from the former Charlie’s Best Bread to Point Loma Bakery and Bistro. In fact it wasn’t until I attempted to «check in» while waiting for my panini that I realized Charlie had left the building. Menu is the same, possibly a few additions and editions here or there, making it nice and easy to order my favorites. Staff is still as pleasant as can be and ditto on the bistroesque décor. In fact, save for the swinging saloon doors separating the baked goods headquarters from the front of the house and an «Under New Management» banner outside, all is spectacularly similar. In attempt to save a perfectly good review from internet obscurity and in keeping with this theme of indistinguishable identity my previous, still substantiated review follows: Should you fancy a beer or glass of wine with your bread stuffs, you can do so here. Personally, I recommend the prosciutto panini. I opt for a half sandwich because a full size could feed me for a week, and add a side salad. A delicious melt with fresh tomato, mozzarella, a heap of the namesake prosciutto and homemade pesto on ciabatta bread fills my belly and excites my taste buds; no scrimping with the veggies on the side salad makes for a very happy munch. Additionally, this place offers a fairly comprehensive menu including breakfast items, pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches. the list goes on and all is made in house. Pricing is comparable to most establishments in the area. The interior is clean and organized with a friendly and welcoming staff. There is also a quaint, PET-FRIENDLY, patio for some sunshine lunching. This bakery offers a wide variety of breads, baked fresh daily on location. They have healthy whole grain, low fat breads, and specialty breads with flavorful ingredients such as spinach feta and, my personal favorite, sun-dried tomato herb. Certain selections are not available on a daily basis, however their website provides a baking schedule and also takes advance orders.

This used to be known as Charlie’s Best Bread and Café but the owner changed the name when he sold off Charlie’s Best Bread in Pacific Beach. This café will still make you a delicious breakfast, a satisfying lunch, terrific tasting cappuccinos and provide dinner and wine in the early evening most days. It doesn’t sell Charlie’s Best Bread anymore but continues to make it’s famous rustic bread varieties on the premises. Here you will get great service, top quality food and good value every day.

Now I’ve only had the coffee here, so my rating is based only off of that, but Point Loma Bakery is alright. The coffee is usually good, although very pricey(more than Starbucks). The free coffee refill offer does offset their prices, so that does help me cope a bit. The food looks pretty tasty, as well as the bread and muffins the case. The cinnamon rolls are GIANT and look amazing. I wish I could eat bread like that!

Three of us each ordered their Star Spangled Banner Breakfast special and it was good! The pancakes were outstanding — great flavor with a hint of banana. The eggs were good — the scrambled eggs were fluffy and flavorful as were the over-easy eggs. The bacon had good flavor but was very thin. My son ordered a cinnamon role that was the size of a pie and was very good too. Coffee was good and the place was clean and very relaxing. If you are visiting the Point Loma area or are staying on Harbor Island or Shelter Island, I recommend the place — A pleasant change from the tourist chains.

Loved going to this Bakery because of their Bran muffins… yummy! Thought I would try something else. Got there, went to wash my hands and found that someone exploded in the bathroom. Mentioned it to the person at the counter, Nothing done. Also noticed that the tables were not cleaned off the whole time we were there. OK… let’s overlook that. First time I had the prosciutto melt… and the muffin… yummy! Happy with the food. Went their again last week. Bathroom clean, no paper towels, tables were not cleaned off the whole time we were there. OK… let’s overlook that since the prosciutto melt and muffin were so yummy. Ordered the melt… took a bite and what??? not melted… large piece of cold mozzarella. They were so busy my husband suggested to just eat it. OK… not happy but I;ll go along. But before I left I thought that I would mention it so they could do a better job next time. I got up asked for the manager. The person behind the counter said that the manager was not available(she could’ have been the assistant) however she could help. I told her of my experience and then… she started to scold me. Geez… what did I expect?. I’m sorry. Thank you for pointing that out. We appreciate your feedback. We’ll do a better job next time. Needless to say, I’m not going back there. until they can get there… you know what, together. No matter how good the muffins are.

I stopped in early Sunday morning for some coffee and toast. I asked the lady working the counter what the coffee of the day was and she smartly and annoyingly answered, «the coffee of the day.» Then I told her«no,» «what is its origin, i.e., Costa Rica, Mexico, etc.,» but she answered, «ya, that place, Costa Rica.» She had no clue where it came from, and her tone and body language suggested she was patronizing. Not a good start. Since I did not know what I was getting with the coffee of the day, I decided on the a dependable Americano, a 16 oz for $ 2.95 with some multi-grain toast for $ 2.95 as well.( ) I have to admit that the Americano was very good. It was very smooth and had a great kick. My toast was very good too, but I did not like the fact that it came toasted only on one side.( ) I mean, who does that? So, I had warm toast on one side, and room temp soft bread on the other side. Well, I slathered butter and strawberry preserve on the toasted side which tasted quite good with the multi-grain bread. I just which it was properly toasted.( ) This place is under new management, given the sign outside the front of the building.( ) I am a very patient person, however I suggest to the new management that they make sure their employees are well verse on what they are serving, can properly prepare toast, and make sure the place is clean prior to opening, because seeing trash on the floor, while I am eating, does not bod well in my book.( ) This place definitely can do much better with a little attention to details, and I hope they do, because not only do they make good coffee, but they also provide some good looking bake goods.( ) So, for now a 2 stars because of the service and the single side toasted bread. Oh yes, be careful of the small high tables, they are very wobbly and shake a lot if you accidentally hit one of the legs. I lost a quarter of my coffee with that one…
