I neglected making an appointment with Dr. Potente for over a year because I was so afraid of all dentists! I have always had a regular dentist for check ups but even their method for injecting the local anesthetic was so painful that I’d tear up every time. I’m pretty sure I developed a mild form of PTSD over the years. When I finally decided to go through with the retreatment of a bad root canal I was amazed at how painless the process was. I was so relaxed that I almost fell asleep! I’m now embarrassed that I waited so long for a health problem that could’ve been fixed long ago. Thank you Dr. Potente for bringing back the faith!

Four stars for the MD and dental assistant only. Front desk receptionist cordial but no above and beyond. Other woman, assuming she was office manager, snooty and condescending. Because the two front desk women never cared to introduce themselves, I do not know their names. Clean office, complimentary underground parking with spaces made for compact cars.

I am highly impressed with Dr. Potente. I was referred to him by my dentist for a root canal and they got me in right away. I have the biggest fear of getting my mouth worked on and he made my experience much more pleasant than I thought it would be. He explained everything along the way, step by step, and even joked around easing my stress. I would def recommend him. He also worked really fast and I was out of there in about an hour — I originally thought I was going to be there all day! I wish I knew her name, but Dr. Potente’s assistant was also lovely and I give her major credit for getting X-​rays without hurting my mouth! The last couple of places I have been, it has been a little tougher.
The only (kind of) downside — I am not sure if everyone standing behind the reception desk worked there or were patients, but when I walked in, a couple of them stared at me and a couple continued on with their pretty loud conversations. only after I said I had an appt. did one of them say anything — with that said, the receptionist that helped me was very sweet and friendly — maybe It was just a random occurrence. This wouldn’t ever stop me from coming back to Dr. Potente and like I said, the staff was still very friendly.

Let me begin by saying I am a practicing dentist. I had had a root canal on a molar almost 30 years ago. While traveling recently, I had the worst toothache ever. If I could have pulled the tooth out myself I would have. Dr. Potente is who I refer my patients to so I made an appointment, worried that the tooth was unsavable. Dr. Potente re-​treated the tooth in just over an hour. Nothing hurt, not the shots, not the root canal. I took the recommended amount of Advil and the tooth feels perfect! I will continue to send my patients to him.

Summary: Rude and condescending receptionist staff and an unprofessional endodontist.
I was referred to Anthony through my dentist the same day. I told Dr Potente that I was still numbed up from the procedure and asked if I should wait. They said no and took some x-​rays. Then he did some tests to see if I needed a root canal. He determined I did not need a root canal which was the wrong diagnosis. Another specialist later clearly determined I did in fact need a root canal and got the work done.
I called Dr Potente’s office a month later seeing I received a bill. I first talked to the receptionist and inquired why my insurance covered nothing. The receptionist put me on the phone with Anthony not telling me that I would be talking to him. I told him he made the wrong determination and I shouldn’t even be billed. He argued it was better that he determine I not need a root canal vs I did need a root when I didn’t need a root canal What! He should have told me to wait until my novocain wore off to do cold tests! I trusted his expert opinion. He told me on the phone it didn’t matter and they would still bill me. Then he put me back to the receptionist.
I was surprised my insurance company did not cover it. I asked the receptionist a number of questions referring to billing codes and why I was denied. The receptionist told me to «stop crying» to her and call my insurance company! I couldn’t believe she said that. I even said «Excuse me did you just say stop crying to me?» She said yes yes I did!
I latter discovered my insurance company said I went past my 2 annual examanations but if an endodontist can’t do his job then whey should I get billed? I certainly don’t deserve a rude receptionist trying to belittle me. Now I have to go through the hassle of filing a grievance.

I was very impressed with Dr. Potente. I have can honestly say– this is the best dental procedure I’ve ever had. I am no stranger to the dentist, but he made my root canal experience a pleasant one. As a patient at a military installation– our physicians and staff could take a few notes on customer service from him.

Stellar root canal experience! I have had trouble with a root canal and recurring infection and Dr. Potente put me at ease right away. Best Endodontists in San Diego. He is super fast, friendly staff, amazing ongoing support… I could go on and on. The tremendous support to assure my treatment was a success and comfortable is much appreciated. Thank you Dr. Potente!!! I highly recommend him to my close friends, family, and coworkers.

This guy’s great. He makes a troubling experience, like a root canal, much easier to handle. he does everything possible to ease the pain and to be accommodating to his patients. Well done!

Best endodontist in the area. No one likes to have to get a root canal but if you do I highly recommend Dr. Potente. I work in dentistry I have seen really bad and really good over the years and I would not recommend him if I knew he wasn’t anything but great. My husband just got done with his root canal and I would never have my own family member go anywhere else than the best care. Dr Potente and his staff are awesome.

I just got done getting a root canal from Dr. Potente and he was very understanding of my extreme fear of dentists. He explained everything as he went and that really helped me get through the procedure. He really cared if i was feeling any discomfort during the root canal on my molar. The office staff was very nice to me and tried their best to ease my fear. I could not ask for a more kind and gentle dentist. Thank You Dr. Potente and staff for a job well done.

I just got home and let me tell you a little something about Dr. Potente… He is AMAZING! He was kind enough to get me in for an emergency root canal last minute… Right away he addressed my anxiety and I can say this emergency procedure was less painful than a visit to my barber.

My regular dentist has sent me to Dr. Potente three times. Twice of root canals and once for a 2^nd opinion on whether a tooth could be saved or should be extracted. Dr. Potente is very friendly but professional, explains excactly what he is doing as he progresses thru the procedure, and does it with mininal discomfort. I would recommend him to anyone who needs an endodontist.
