Rady Children’s Hospital And Health Center

If you have children, and have ever had to take one to the hospital for a medical emergency, you will be glad that we have a Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Period.
Children’s provides great care, but is lacking in some areas…
The registration area looks like a prison reception area. It has a thick, bullet-​proof looking glass wall, for the check in desk. The waiting area is old, cold, and unwelcoming. The entire building is old, and some of the equipment looks very outdated.
We have been here on three occasions and with limited health insurance, our billing experience was a nightmare! My daughter sprained her finger = $ 2500 for a 2 hour wait to be seen by a nurse, x-​ray, and no doctor in sight. The finger splint was billed at $ 250!!!
My son had breathing difficulties = $ 10,000 total, $ 5,000 our share, for an over-​night stay.
The third is more recent, and we are still waiting to see what the financial damage will be!
Overall, satisfied with the care, but not with the facility, and billing.
