So I arrived here at 7 am in the morning to drop off documents. Been waiting here for last 45 minutes. Everyone just seems busy drinking coffee and chit chatting. Most windows are unmanned except 2. Make sure you come here with entire day off. These guys really take their sweet time. Perhaps as someone said earlier. overwork and underpaid…

I came in to pick up my child’s birth certificate today. It was a very fast and easy process and the people on the vital records office were awesome. The security guard up at the front desk however was a real jerk. The guy in front of me asked for directions and after he walked away, with me still standing at the desk sining in, started talking to the other guard about how the guy was an idiot and wasn’t listening to him anyway. As the first person that I saw when I walked through the door not a great first impression. Would have been 5 stars I not for him.

Totally unhelpful. I came in for a TB test and the front desk was so disorganized. First I couldn’t hear the person behind the glass because she was speaking so quietly and away from the mic. When I asked her to speak up, because I couldn’t hear her, she just sat there and looked at me.
The front desk failed to let me know when I would need to come back for my results. When I went back to get my TB test done, the clinician informed me that I would not be able to come back within the time frame needed for an accurate reading. I spent one hour waiting just to have that information.
I went to the front desk to ask for a refund, where the front desk person was on her personal cell phone. She ignored me until I knocked on the glass. She got off her phone, and seemed bothered that she actually needed to do her job, get off her phone, and process my refund.
I asked about scheduling an appointment to avoid this mess in the future, and I was told that they do not schedule appointments for skin testing.
What a waste of time. Damn government.

I came here for my STD/​HIV testing and I have to say they were very professional, the building was very clean, and the waiting room was comfortable.
They were very thorough with the testing. They swab, examine, rub, poke and prod all over for anything that could be a sign on an STD. They do a Urine test, an anal swab, an oral swab, and of course they draw blood as well for the HIV. Results take 2 weeks to get back.
They also let you sign up for email reminders to come back every 3 months for testing if you are sexually active.
I recommend coming here for your testing as they cover everything. Its $ 15 to get tested (cash only), but they will waive the fee if you are low income.

Wow. I dragged my nasty ass down here to have my annual anonymous HIV test done. I usually go to the Center or catch the mobile facility that occasionally shows up in Balboa Park, but my friend told me these guys were more thorough and boy was he right!
They swabbed and stuck and wiped almost every orifice I have looking not just for HIV but also for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and I guess anything else you can get being human.
After all the swabbing and poking was done, I met with the HIV counselor, a very wise and wizened older broad, who was clearly going to tell the truth and pull no punches. She had my results which were (thankfully) negative.
I used to do HIV counselling back in the early 90s, when we were trying to convince people to use condoms and dental dams for oral sex. We were trained that that was a transmission route. Not so today. The counsellor told me the current wisdom on HIV and oral sex is that it’s just about impossible to get that way.
When it comes time to get your test, I’d recommend doing it here and doing the full battery of tests they offer. You just feel so much better walking out of there. The sunlight is lighter, the colors are brigher and everything just smells fresher.
