Wow. Problem #1)I am NOTJUANITA S! Misinformation about matching new wood flooring up to ceramic tile, was yelled at on phone when I called to complain about workers leaving after 6 hrs. Owner Nicholas told me that the curved tile, which gave the room it’s ambience, needed to be grinded straight down along the edges, plumb up & down. So I spent my Sunday using my angle grinder. On Monday, installers tell my wife, «Sorry. No can do. Straight flooring planks can not be matched to curved tile. WHAT? Nicholas told us Sure! So I had to come home from work, cut straight edges in my beautiful curved tile. I’d helped with the job because I’ve been in construction for over 40 years. I removed old carpet tack along the walls. I found a wet spot behind the bathroom on the living room side. I opened the wall & found 5 dry copper pipes. But the drywall was wet & moldy. It stopped the entire job at 2 that afternoon because after I chopped the cement floor open searching for a leak(at 10 am) I was informed at 2 pm that cement would have to dry 48 hours before they could continue, 35 away! Okay, so why not warn me at 10am that morning instead of 2pm as they were leaving? Some of the trim edging they put over the transition from wood to tile is now coming up. The mitre joints aren’t cut tight. WORSTOFALL: There had been linoleum tile on the original floor under the removed carpet, which I removed myself. There were linoleum chunks missing. That left a 1⁄8th inch difference in the cement floor. I asked Nicholas, «Should I float this out with thin set to even it with the rest of the tile? «No, that won’t be necessary because our insulated backing will take care of it.» So, now that the the floor is finished, wherever a piece of linoleum had been missing, the new wood squishes down when stepped on! They took off Tuesday at 2 pm, leaving our house looking like someone picked it up & shook it really hard, came back on Friday after my 6» cement patch had dried for 48 hrs, & worked all day to finish. End of the day, they left dust EVERYWHERE! They had used our front yard to cut the floor boards where the saw dust shot into our garden mulch for 3 days. On the Tuesday that they left at 2, after only 6.5 hours of work, the boss told me it was so they could make a dump run. I’m in the home repair business for 43 years. You go to the dump at THEEND of the job! There is still quite a bit of detail work that I knew I’d have to do myself, mostly trim wood over the tile, to, meet my complete satisfaction with the job they did. The workers were okay, at least one was, the lead man was very quiet and un-informative. Overall, the finished floor looks pretty good. The trim work needs some fastening. Mitre joints need to be filled with caulk & colored. But I HATE the mushy spots in the floor wherever I step especially after I had offered to fill the missing linoleum with thin set to even it out. Tile setters I personally know have asked me why I didn’t do that! Flooring contractors I’ve since spoken to have told me there is flexible, curvable trim to cover curved tile when joined with wood floors! We paid them $ 4000. I’m not going to be a returning customer. Surprise!.They also left a section of trim under the front of a cabinet that we had to point out. They had to go buy a piece to install it. The workers(one) were quite nice, but the lead guy told his boss that I was angry all day, complained about everything, a real pain. Maybe, but not until they quit at 2pm with so much more finish work they could have done to complete 2 bedrooms 100%. They said that they didn’t have the trim needed to complete, so the bedrooms had to remain upside down until they got back 2 days later. Cleaning was used with a shop vac. As I said, I’m in the home improvement business. Shop vacs suck dirt into one end and blow it right out the other unless they are properly filtered! Theirs wasn’t. I even pointed it out. My wife & I spent 3 days dusting every nic-nac, flat surface, vertical service, ceilings, jewelry, EVERYTHING had to be cleaned. We gave up, hired a professional cleaning service which took them another 9 hours. Heres’s the kicker: when I complained to Nicholas the owner about the slow progress of the job, lack of communication, he began enlightening me quite LOUDLY over the phone about all the free things they were doing for us because they do not normally do those things, such as moving furniture, & several other tasks that escape me at the moment, but the reality is, THOSEWEREHISKEYSELLINGPOINTS as to why we should hire them! Now they’ve become reasons we shouldn’t be complaining! We love the floor. We do. I just hate the squishy spots that I could have prevented myself. I worked right beside these guys all day, I never complained about anything! Company Uniforms! Forget it. They aren’t like
