If I could give no stars I would. I waited approximate an hour and a half and was jumped in line twice by the artists if you could call them that’s buddies. Please if you want a quality tattoo in a timely manner do NOT go here. GARBAGE.

I just waited here for an hour and a half to get a tattoo and got skipped over for someone else. The worst. Ace and last days put their customers first.

Was on vacation in the Ocean Beach area, walked past Seth’s Chop Shop and couldn’t refuse getting a haircut there. Great place, and would highly recommend Emily for a men’s cut!

I generally don’t leave negative reviews, however, my wife just got back from Seth’s. She was told over the phone that having her colored in the style that she requested would be around $ 110. This is just color mind you, no cut involved. Well, as it turns out it was $ 175 and not even what she had initially requested. To add the additional red streaks that she asked for would have been over $ 200, wtf? I realize that women’s hair in general is pricey, but this just blew my mind on how freaking overpriced it is. She said she won’t be going back there again. I can’t blame her. I certainly wouldn’t encourage it. Maybe it was miscommunication, but it seems a lot like bait and switch. I only added the 2^nd star as my wife said that the gal who colored her hair was nice.
It has been 8 days and the dark brown color in my wife’s hair has almost completely faded. (She uses shampoo specifically for color treated hair) I have removed a star because of this. What a major disappointment and a complete ripoff.

Cassie was awesome! Just got off of work (really grubby) and have an extremely busy schedule yet she fit me in. Great haircut with many compliments. Unusual, very cool shop with an Americana theme. Great peeps, great cuts, cool shop.

Quick skin fade on a saturday afternoon memorial weekend… didnt even have to wait! Everywhere else was an hour wait or more for a 15 minute haircut… cool experience with a sweet view of the main drag.

I could give two stars, because the shop is very unique and the owner is very sweet & friendly!
Other than that tho, it was the worst hair experience I’ve ever had. For starters my hair dresser was 1 ½ hrs late. She had an excuse & let me know she would be running 30 mins late (½ hr before appointment & after I had already left my house to meet her). I have been getting my hair highlighted for years and should’ve just stuck to the normal. However, Lisa convinced me that doing more blonde all over would help get some of the current brass out and look better (although at a higher cost ofcourse). I agreed to try. My hair is yellow! And not just a few strands here & there, ALL OVER– SOLID YELLOW! I am a mom, how can she possibly think that this look is ok. Also I was going to use a groupon for $ 75 highlight– condition treatment– hair cut. I ended up having to pay over $ 100 & didn’t even get a hair cut (or conditioning treatment prob). To top it off, when I went to pay I was then informed it was Cash Only! So I had to go hunt down an ATM. Hello this is the 21^st century, how do you not accept card or atleast let your client know in advance!
So here I am, having to make an emergency appointment somewhere else, where I’ll prob have to spend another $ 100 to get it fixed. The only one on my end coming up is my babysitter.

Jessica– its all about Jessica. I called looking for a same day appointment and was able to get in. I was looking for someone who could do a more vintage /​retro cut called a Middy — but with a little more modern shape to it. I have long thick wavy hair so she had her work cut out. She did a dry cut which is best for my texture, she never pushed product on me and even comment on how soft my hair it. Now if that was not enough. what she did next was OVER THE TOP AWESOME. she gave me a few tips on how to get my hair to do what I want. The simple little tips she showed and told me about have made me love my hair again and has been the reason for so many compliments. Thank you Jessica I will be back again soon!!!

Kendra was great, she got me with an appointment with short notice on Sunday afternoon. I got exactly what I wanted. She’s friendly and fun to talk to. I’ll be back!

I have to follow my hair dresser wherever she goes because she is the BEST in San Diego! Lisa is now at Seth’s, my first time there and was immediately greeted by Seth, he’s very friendly and welcoming and just a cool guy. This place has a very unique, vintage vibe and atmosphere and is unlike any other place you will see in SD. While I was getting my hair done, many people stop in just to look around and to take pictures. If you need a great stylist, Lisa is fabulous! She’s been doing my hair for years, everything from very blonde, darker ombré, and hair extensions. She’s been a hair stylist for over a decade and she knows what she is doing!
I also needed to get my belly button repierced after having it ripped out months prior; I was extremely nervous (understatement!) and had been putting it off for a long time. I spoke with Bobby and he told me that I would be able to get it repierced, explained everything to me, and quoted me a great price. He waited patiently until closing for me to finally make up my mind and get it pierced. I was very scared and nearly having an anxiety attack, but his demeanor made me feel a lot less nervous and I am so happy that I got it done! Would highly recommend him for piercings (he does tattoos as well).
Leaving Seth’s I was an extremely satisfied customer, couldn’t be happier about their services!

AWESOME shop, has a cool vintage american feel to it. Super friendly staff, they even brought us food! I looked at just about every shop between gas lamp and here, and Bobby hooked me up with a best price i could find all day, and he didnt sacrafice quality for the price either. These guys are tattoo artists not scam artists. Which i cant say about most of the other shops in the gas lamp area; who were asking 50 bucks more and for less detail on the sketches they showed. Script, traditional, realism you name it; These guys can do it. And they actually care.

Brendon is the best artist and the most interpretive technician in the biz. If you want you first tattoo transformed from dreams to reality, he is your guy.

Dawn is an amazing hair-​stylist and make-​up artist. I have never done any «vintage, pin-​up» look before, but I really wanted to get that kind of make over so I made a reservation with her, based on Unilocal’s reviews.
She definitely knows what she is doing. I thought she was super professional. She made me feel so comfortable, and for the whole time (2 hrs) I was just mesmerized by how amazing her technique was. I came into the shop looking so normal, and came out the shop looking so fabulous! As soon as I walked out the door, I got compliments from strangers!
She also does bridal hair/​make up, and also travels on-​site. The best feature is she works on Sundays. (Most hair stylist don’t).
The Seth Chop Shop is filled with fun, eclectic pop art, vintage items and I really enjoyed being in the store.
Oh this place is, surprisingly, kids friendly. They cut kids’ hair too! I am thinking to bring my son next time to get «dapper-​rockabilly» hair style.

I am posting this on behalf of my husband because I was with him while he got his haircut.
Robbie did a great job. My husband was pretty excited he could straight razor shave. Took his time and the place is beautifully decorated.

Love Seth’s Chop Shop! I have been getting my hair cut here for nearly seven years. Mandy is wonderful at her job and always leaves me with the cut/​trim that I want. I have really long hair and she never over cuts or goes rogue, lol. If you have long hair and a fear of someone destroying it, fear no more, Mandy is your girl! Just recently got some curtain bangs and I’m loving it!
I’ve also had tattoos done here and they do an excellent job in that department as well! Go ahead… stop on in and check it out… you know you want to! :)

While complaining to my nail lady about how I desperately needed a hair cut she promptly recommend Nikki at Seth’s Chop Shop. She then went on for a good couple minutes about how much she loved Nikki and her skills with the scissors. Since Renee’s hair always looks good and she couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful she was I called her while I was getting my nails painted. Before I left I had an appointment and was really looking forward to losing my dead ends!
Renee didn’t disappoint. Nikki was was wonderful! She was welcoming, friendly and skilled. She took her time cutting my hair and styled it beautifully, I got several complements on it later that night to prove it :) Also she is going to call me to remind me when its time for my next cut so I can avoid another mess like the one I was in!!! Nikki is great, just remember to make an appointment with her since she inst a walk in stylist!

Coming back to San Diego, I couldn’t wait to get my hair done regularly at Seth’s again; this time, I went with Dawn seeing as how Seth was busy. She was AMAZING! I needed a bang trim, she did it with clippers, which scared me a little, but they were so precise and perfect, I won’t have it any other way.
Also, I’ve been tattooed numerous times by Seth, and everything he’s done on me has been perfect.

Chop Shop is an appropriate name for this place. The «artist» left his mark on me in the form of a wonky star. The lines didn’t even meet up at the intersecting points. Seriously, we’re talking about one stupid, simple, little star and he couldn’t pull it off. He was clearly put out at having to deal with a customer who asked questions, even rolling his eyes and telling me at one point that questions were 5 $ a piece; dick. He tried to talk me into unwanted shading.
«do you want shading, I really think you should do shading.»
Me: «No, I want just the outline»
Seth: «I have been tattooing for 23 years, I really think you should do shading because it will give it some depth, otherwise it looks like lines on your skin»
Me: «Well I have had my body for 27 years and I do not want shading.»
I find my deformed little start endearing, his attitude, however, I do not.

I got a next day appointment, she wasn’t annoyed with me when I changed my mind 3 times about what I wanted, and she did a great job fixing the red in my hair and giving me a cute little updo for my birthday. The shop has some cool retro style and is spacious. I love that she wrote her schedule on the business card she gave me. I’ll definitely be back.

My friend & I got some very spur of the moment tattoos while on vactaion, to say the least. Jason/​/​Head, the self proclaimed ‘infinity tattoo specialist’ did a dope job, I even left with a ‘H’ behind my ear. don’t ask me why. Overall a fun experience at Seth’s Chop Shop & a story I am bound to tell over and over again. SUPER good prices, cool shop & a super fun staff. if you are lucky enough they might even buy you a tequila shot or two! DDC.
