Stumbled here after leaving one of the Gas-lamp bars. This is now our go to place after we have a bunch of drinks. They have great coffee and awesome service! This place is easy to miss but it’s right after Tipsy Crow bar on the left side.

Another day, another coffee shop in downtown to try. This place was on track to get a 5* review based on prices, location, and setup. Sadly, their owner decided to raise all of the prices, so the menu shown on Unilocal wasn’t up to date. Worse, all the prices were just crossed out on their menu, so I had to ask the guy how much everything was. Awkward! Ended up getting an Americano with a 10% Unilocal checkin offer. Good coffee, but not amazing. I’d go back with a friend to hang out at the bar and chat. But there are other cheaper/better options in downtown, in my opinion. Nonetheless, I’ll leave Simon Says with 4*.

Great location for a coffee, beverage and snack shop. We found it while walking and finding nary a coffee spot in the area. Little shop outside on the sidewalk — kind of looks like an old traincar, but a bit smaller. Super friendly dude making good brew and espresso drinks. $ 5 for a drip and cappuccino was nice and totally hit the spot. Simon say a coffee… Matt says hooray!

Simon Says Coffee is a great spot to pick up a cup o’ joe. I stopped by early on a Saturday while I was walking around the Gaslamp district. The barista was quiet and acknowledged me with a smile. I ordered a small viennese latte which was made/served at lighting speed. Their«small» cups are quite tiny, but they are the perfect size for a little pick-me-up. The drink was great; it was smooth, rich, sweet and a bit potent – in a good way – thanks to the cinnamon. Simon Says Coffee is within walking distance of everything in the neighborhood, and I definitely suggest picking up a latte if you’re in the area.

Being the coffee snob that I am… I found this coffee to be very smooth with hints of chocolate. Very good! I would highly recommend this coffee bar!!!

This tiny coffee stand is so adorable. During the morning/day times, one can sit here and enjoy and bagel, fresh coffee, etc. At nights, the stand transitions into a place where drunk tourists can get their munchies and caffeine. I usually get hot dogs here every weekend after my shift at work. The boy that works the stand is super friendly and the owner of the stand knows how to network.

A coffee stand that is open air in Gaslamp. It is between the Horton Plaza mall and the main streets of Gaslamp’s restaurant and bar scene. The barista seems to know his stuff. In addition to various coffee styles they have teas, hot chocolate, and a few cold bottled drinks.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience here this morning. Ordered a triple soy vanilla latte and a heated up croissant, got an overflowing plain latte with no vanilla and a cold croissant and was charged $ 11.50. When I tasted that there was no vanilla, I asked the barista and she added two tiny half pumps of syrup on top of the whipped cream, gave it back and told me to stir it. I don’t know any café where that would be the proportionate amount of flavor for a triple, even if it wasn’t all absorbed by the whipped cream(nor anywhere they wouldn’t scrape the cream off and stir the flavor into the actual drink for the customer). Anyway, the receipt showed a charge of $ 2.25 for flavor/milk sub/whipped cream at $.75 each which was fine, but an additional $ 2.25 for espresso on top of the $ 3.75 large latte charge. I take this to mean the added shot of espresso was rung up as a separate drink(normally added shots are $.50). I and the other customer at the bar questioned the high price but Antonella just said they charge for flavor and whipped cream and left it at that. The flavor of the drink was really sour tasting as well which is why i really wanted some flavoring to cover it up. Sadly I can’t go back to this place even though it is literally between where I park and my office building. Everywhere I’ve been in downtown San Diego is better.

Great drip cup of coffee, cute and quaint little outdoor stand in the heart of gaslamp, I told the owner that the high Unilocal reviews were one of the reasons I chose the place, and we got into a good discussion and he even was nice enough to give my mom some free chocolates he had, A+ coffee and service.

This street coffee vendor is located right in front of the Keating Hotel. It’s very small, with a few stools right out in front and a small table of to the side with a couple of chairs. However, on a very good note, they do make a great cup of coffee. I had a cup house drip coffee and enjoyed some pleasant conversation with the Barista. The cup of Joe was quite good. It was smooth and rich and provided that nice early morning pick me up. They prepare the litter of espressos, coffees, and specialty drinks, including some fine teas I was told. If you need something to much on, they also provide simple breads, sweet pastries, and croissants! Service was top notch and they start up pretty early everyday at 7AM.

When in downtown San Diego, you’ll appreciate this option to the Starbucks monopoly around the Convention Center and Gaslamp. Simon Says Coffee on F Street, between Fifth and Fourth Avenues, serves up great stuff! I had this fabulous Viennese latte(honey and cinnamon) served by a friendly barista, around 8 am on Friday July 24, 2015.

Great spot downtown for coffee, friendly and welcoming staff who are happy to shoot the breeze with you as you enjoy your artisan roast coffee. Large selection of pastries as well to help you start your day. Jamie the barista makes a great flat white and clearly knows her coffee as it wasn’t on the menu and she prepared it without a 2nd thought. Comes highly if recommended.

Finally. Some awesome, real Italian caliber coffee in downtown and they’re open late on Fri and Sat. Try a small breve cappucino from Jam. She’ll whip up a great brew.
