Simon’s On Sixth

My family and I took a trip to the new children’s museum and needed to break for a late lunch when we came across this outstanding little café. In all, we ordered the strawberry/​walnut salad, a panini, and a grilled cheese for my son. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff/​owner were friendly and, something you don’t really see nowadays, grateful for our business! I will definitely visit again next time we come to the children’s museum. To the owner: if you happen to read this, thank you again! :)

Awesome food and service. Breakfast café down the street was full so we tried Simone’s and the breakfast was great! Highly recommend.

I recently found Simon’s while I was searching for a new (better) catering service to help me with my breakfast and lunch corporate catering. When I call to inquire about their catering services the woman was extremely helpful and even offered to bring me by a sampling of their tasty fare. Instead, I walked over to their new Café on First Avenue. I was pleasantly greeted by the owner (Freeda) and we went over their large selection of catering offerings. The following day they delivered to our office a delicious tray of sandwiches, cookies and salads. My co-​workers loved the fresh food and on time delivery. We have used Simon’s now four times and every order has been on time and accurate.
We love their homemade breads and cookies. We can’t wait to have them cater our montly breakfast meeting as Freeda mentioned they make their own pastries too! Yummy!

Awesome! I just found this place and had to ask them «have you always been here?» The lady said they have only been open for about 8 weeks.
I am glad I live close by so I can eat here all the time. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a 3 egg, ham and cheese omelet. Very good!
The place is very lit up, nice and bright and very clean.
Overall, I really like the place and will be back often.

Yum! I had the breakfast sandwich. Scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon on a bagel. You can customize your sandwich. Reasonable prices and very friendly employees.

Had food delivered via Amazon Prime Now. Ordered a pastrami and the turkey with stuffing and cranberries. Both were characterized by absolute abyssmal lack of meat. I am amazed that any restaurant would so skimp on the primary ingredient of a sandwich. Simply horrible sandwiches.
Also ordered a scone which was very dense, flavorless, with a distasteful after taste.
This place is off my list and I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for sandwiches.

This place is AMAZING for sandwich’s. The chicken club panini and French fries are LEGIT! I can’t be happier that they have moved into the building.

I ordered the strawberry chicken salad. It came with more than I have expected. A big plate of Really fresh green with strawberry, walnut, dried cranberry, and apple slices. Price is very reasonable $ 8.95. A really healthy and delicious combination Only 10 minute walk from Marriot Marquez. Definitely come back again.

This place is surely a diamond! I had the breakfast plate and it was great! They can even do an off the menu combo plate that includes pancakes… service is excellent! Price was also nice, especially in an area were meal cost can certainly elevate.

We had pancakes here today. They were absolutely fantastic. I will recommend them to everyone I know. They were so good, we are already planning our next visit. The people are very friendly and were wonderful. This is a great place for breakfast and lunch last weekend. I just cannot say enough good things about this establishment.

I tried their Falafel Sandwich and I have to say it is one of the best in San Diego. I’m really exited to try other items in their menu.

This is my favorite place for breakfast AND lunch when I’m at work. They are quick and amazingly kind. The food is delicious. Literally I have not had anything I haven’t liked yet. Their items are fresh and you can taste that. The prices are perfect and very inexpensive especially for this area. I am so so happy they are in downtown and so close to my work! Seriously check them out and you won’t be disappointed

Excellent food, great service and fantastic location! I’ve been here several times and it gets better with each visit.

I ordered a Panini the first time I ate here. After 10+ minutes of waiting, the inside was cold and the cheese wasn’t fully melted. Overall experience was «meh» and I regretted spending the money.
Decided to give them another chance. I got a cold sandwich which was, again, just ok. The deli meat is grocery store brand, the cheese isn’t anything special, and the free cookies taste like they’ve been baked on the same sheets as something salty (bacon maybe?)
Definitely not worth the money or the wait. Maybe the salads are better?

Mediocre. I’ve been here plenty on times and end up grabbing limp lettuce or noticing that they are out of one of my favorite toppings. The chicken tastes off and my dressing on the side, that I paid for… was not given to me.

Great personal service. The owner is friendly and honest. Their scones and breakfast sandwiches were awesome.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast before a day at the Zoo and the experience started our day off perfectly. Thanks!

Service:
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff. I told them this was my first time here and the nice woman walked me through the menu, told me all their favorites and most popular items. She also informed me that they make all their own breads in house and roast their own turkeys as well!
Food:
I ordered the Chicken Pesto panino, which was incredible! I’ll break it down…
The focaccia, being homemade that day, was so light and fluffy. It had great flavor and a nice crunch for the panino.
Meat: The chicken wasn’t the crappy rubber stuff you get at most places, it was roasted chicken that had an awesome flavor as well.
Veggies: The veggies were all crisp and fresh, no soggy tomatoes or wilted lettuce.
Price:
For $ 6.99 a sandwich, slightly more for a panino, you really can’t go wrong when it’s all homemade food. I got the combo which came with a choice of salad (potato or pasta, I chose pasta), a can of soda or water, and a free cookie (comes with all orders). My entire order was less than $ 10, which might be more than some want to spend on lunch, but I’m 6’4, 225 lbs and I was full after this meal.
Other Items: They also have a huge salad bar which looked awesome. I will definitely be checking out the salad bar on days that a sandwich is not my fancy.
Overall a great experience and I am REALLY glad I checked it out! I will definitely be going back here a few times a week.

I work in downtown so the food shops around here can get repetitive. However, I don’t feel this way about Simon’s. They have a great salad bar and if you aren’t in the mood to make your own, the salads they make are reasonably priced and they are huge. Today I got the Greek Chicken salad and it was really filling. Their strawberry salad is really good too. If you are in the mood for a sandwich I typically get the turkey Gouda panini or the Reuben pastram.
I haven’t tried their breakfast except for their oatmeal which is 2.50 for a small.
They have two lunch specials everyday and each order comes with your choice of a cookie. The staff is great and the owners are really nice. They also have good music playing every time I go in.
Definitely give this place a try if you are looking for something new.
