I’m a big fan of Sipz, but I like the Clairemont location better. I usually only come here for takeout when I’m sick, which unfortunately means I’ve been here a lot lately. So what are the differences? First is portion size. In could be just in my head, but Clairemont just seems to serve more food. They use different plates and takeout containers, but I just feel like I get less in North Park Clairemont is also great about separating noodles from soup. Even if you’re just taking your leftovers home, they’ll always give you two containers so that nothing gets overcooked while sitting around. That happens inconsistently here. The first time I got takeout soup I thought they had actually forgotten them because I only got one container. My favorite dish is kung pao«chicken» and the version isn’t as saucy. Mock meat definitely needs lots of sauce! They also won’t let me order a level 12 of spiciness. Humph! All in all, this isn’t a bad place to visit. Ignore my complaints and enjoy a nice meal here. But if you’re between locations, definitely go north.

Great vegetarian food! And Angela, the server, is a doll! The crab rangoon and orange chicken are delicious, but not a fan of the Sauv. Blanc. The food from the spicy page is SUPER spicy though.

Very good food for a very good price too! The only thing is that the music was a tad too loud but other than that it was great !!

Sipz is pretty good if you’re a vegetarian or not. I’m not really a vegetarian but I like to have the option of not eating meat if possible. Other than that this a fusion Asian food place so you can order veggie phở and Thai food from the same menu. Oh and if you want meat you can always order mock duck or chicken etc. I think I like this place the more I come here. They have so many choices on the menu and lots of specials. The prices are right and they also serve vegan deserts so what’s not to like? Ok the parking isn’t so great but you will eventually find a spot around the block especially if you think positive and are in harmony with parking gods.

Pretty large selection of veggie dishes! The food was great. The desserts were soooo good. Try the mango coconut rice and taro boba!

It is so true that this place cleanliness is questionable. I went there to dine in with friends and regret it. My friends got stomach bugs and the staff didn’t clean our tables before we sat down. They think they have reasonable answers to all their shortcomings but that just makes them incompetent. Their staff also seemed to be high and stupid which caused them to be really slow and responsive. If you don’t know how to prepare vegan food and are OK eating your meals from nasty hands, waiting on servers who are high and dump, this is the right pigsty. I would never ever eat here nor recommend to any decent human being out here. Nasty, nasty, nasty, shameful place. I will report them to Public Health Services.

Apparently, cleanliness is not a priority at this restaurant. I had been telling everybody I know, how good the food was but now I have to make sure I warn them all not to eat here. The restaurant was quite busy this past Saturday. While waiting to use the women’s restroom, I heard the toilet flush and immediately after, a guy came running out. I didn’t hear any water running and he had on food service gloves! I watched him go directly into the kitchen and start preparing food with those same gloves. I was disgusted so I left immediately. I called the restaurant to express my concerns but the lady who answered was very rude, she didn’t listen to what I had to say in its entirety but her explanation was that the guy I saw is the same person who cleans the bathroom and does the dishes so therefore, my concern was unwarranted. Then she hung up on me.

Chow mein was forgettable. Sauce lacked flavor and seemed extremely oily. I will be back to give their desserts a try!

Tom Yum soup with«chicken» was full of vegetables and the soup flavor was perfectly on point. We stuck to a 4 for spicy and honestly could have went up a little. There was no heat at all. For Entrees the Thai Curry with Fried tofu so creamy. The flavor was a little sweet and more coconut, it actually could have been a dessert. The Mongolian Style«Beef» dish had all the flavor a and textures you would expect. And served piping hot. This place does not skimp on portion size. We were so happy and couldn’t care less we didn’t eat any actual meat. Desert was the sticky rice with coconut milk and mango. Yum! Very simple but good enough that I somehow found room to finish it. The rice was warm and that made it even more savory. Our server, Angela, did a a great job even though she was handling the entire place by herself. Not an easy task! She was very pleasurable and always had a smile on her face.

Alright I haven’t written a review for this place yet and I’ve been going for a good solid three years! I have taken many a friend and companion here, and while there have been the few(meat-eaters cough cough) who really disliked it(because they’re not open minded and they think the mock meat is not good enough), I have to say that this place is still my number one. Yes it’s had its off days throughout the scope of three years(servers coming and going, food not at its absolute best, etc) but I can say that I still eat here almost once a week. So that should speak for itself. My absolute favorite dishes to this day are: Thai Curry with fried tofu General Zhou Pad Thai with«chicken» Tom Yum with tofu and noodles and man oh man do I love the appetizers(sweet potato fries, pot stickers, miso soup) and I alwayysssss get a Thai Iced Tea with soy milk. And the desserts will always be some of the most amazing vegan treats a girl can get in San Diego(chocolate cake!!) Soooo grateful for this place, and in case you didn’t know, they have beautiful happy hour deals and each day there’s something goin on deal-wise, like Monday is a great deal on vegan sushi and Wednesday is $ 1 beer day!!! Hallelujah for places like this. Been vegan five years and moving to San Francisco soon, only thing I wish is that there were or there will come to be a Sipz up there! Also, I’m not a huge fan of super meat-tasting mock meats, so if you’re looking for that I would try the mock beef or shrimp as they very much resemble the real thing. Some of the chicken dishes really resemble real meat too like the Cashew Stir Fry, but generally I find the chicken used for the General Zhou and Pad Thai have a nice subtlety to them where it’s so tasty without having to resemble meat. Also also. This place is actually magical. After coming here as a devoted customer for years, I have made many a friend AND met my current boyfriend here. Which is to say that the staff who works and the people who come here have generally for the last three years been so amazing and the kind of people that you just wanna be buddies and friends with. I very much appreciate places that bring such lovely and phenomenal humans together! Thank you Sipz~

Well priced, great portions and really REALLY good. I had pad thai with«chicken»(I would recommend adding the veggies with it), miso soup(huge bowl, yummy veggies), fusion spring rolls(not sure if thats what they were called) and my nephew had a sunshine bun and TJ roll that he loved. Honestly though I think I’d go back for all the vegan sushi options they had. Looked sooooooo good. And I really love sushi. I was a little upset that our server had forgotten about my nephews roll after several minutes of bringing all our other food. And when I asked him about it he tried saying I had never ordered it :(even had to get our receipt changed since he had added two rolls on it buhh. Oh well we eventually got it and it was DABEST. Definitely want to go back and explore the menu more :)

The food is bomb! The restaurant is small with nice paintings on the wall and cute decorations! For an appetizer I had the summer rolls and it was tasty the peanut sauce was out of this world. I had the general Tsao meal at a level 6 spicy and it was delicious it came with a mix of tofu and chicken with rice. The portions here are above average. I felt like I was eating an endless pool of fake protein but I enjoyed every second of it. Our waitress, Dakota, was great she checked up on us often and made sure we were not only enjoying our meal but had everything we needed. Will come back!

This place gave me FOODPOISONING!!! I ordered the Chargrilled Veggie Salad. The salad was so greasy I didn’t even want to eat it. It made me feel sick and tasty shitty. Well low and behold, I was horribly sick the next three days.

Just had an early dinner /late lunch here. It was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was very calm, the high ceilings were cool, the lighting was from the big open glass windows, and when you walk in there is a case of a bunch of vegan desserts(cupcakes, brownies, cookies) and kombucha. I ended up eating a brownie first because I was so starving waking in there and that was the first thing I saw haha. I ordered the Mongolian«beef» and a Thai tea with almond milk and boba. The Mongolian beef was to die for! I’m so stuffed! It was mock beef(which had TONS of flavor, you wouldn’t think twice if it was beef or not. Actually, better than beef, because it’s less chewy) mixed with green onions, sweet onions, bell peppers, and sliced carrots, on top of crispy vermicelli noodles and a side of your choice of rice. I loved it. The crispy noodles underneath were exciting to eat along with the beef and onions. The flavor was perfect and I can’t wait to go again. I’m not vegetarian at all! I was just looking for something Asian to eat since we’re kind of lacking in the area. I could always go to underbelly, but I hate their food. Lol. I’ll be going again! The servers were very pleasant, earthy, and welcoming. Their music was a bit elevatory though. Ps, I love loving hut, I’m so glad there is a restaurant just as delicious, if not more, near me! :)

Another place that tackles the myth that vegan food is boring. It was packed when we went. They had vegan sushi??? We must try that. The sushi was huge and super filling. My boyfriend and I had high expectations for the Japanese fire noodles however it tasted very msg like. The sauce was also oily. However the mock duck was soooo good. I would come back to try other dishes. They have a huge menu and it’s all vegan so of course I’ll come back.

Very tasty vegan red velvet cake. I felt the piece was pretty small for nearly $ 6 but it was good and so glad they make it homemade. Wish I had a chance to try the vegan fish and chips!

Since it WAS my favorite place, I gave it another shot and I regretted all night. I has drunken noodles yesterday night and I have been sick and Über bloated since. The taste was also just sugar, cheap oil and soysauce. Addio Sipz :-(

VEGETARIANPLACE Costumer service: Our waiter was awesome, nothing else to say. Food: I’ve been here a couple of times, unfortunately, I had the drunken noodles also shared some sushi with a friend. I wasn’t very impressed, we asked for extra broccoli instead we got a whole bunch of extra veggies, not complaining because they were good. BUT I thought the point of this plate was to have a lot of noodles not a lot of random veggies we didn’t ask for. The sushi was a thumbs up nothing to amazing but it was decent. I do recommend the mango sticky dessert Atmosphere: Very«hipsterish» place if that word can describe it. Casual, cute, and simple place. I’ll defiantly be back to try more items from the menu hopefully I pick something I like next time

Sipz never disappoints! Even though there are better dishes than others, all their food is amazing! Still highly recommend the seaweed salad, the bbq pork bun, and their curry. Sushi was good but only fascinating because it was vegan. I don’t know another place close by that makes vegan sushi. I think I’m obsessed with this place. Love the vibe, the service, and of course the food.
