I was in O.B. this past weekend. I was looking for a gift my girlfriend. I usually go to South coast to get stuff for myself. Awesome surf shop. Anyway, I didn’t know that they have a women’s store just down the street so they sent me over there and it was perfect. Really cool space, filled with cool stuff for women. Customer service was excellent as it usually is at South Coast. Lindsay, the salesperson was really friendly and helpful. I didn’t know what to get and was a bit overwhelmed with all the clothes, flip flops, sunglasses, jewlery etc. She helped me find something perfect for my girlfriend. Walked away with some killer Tom’s and sunglasses and she loved them. Thanks South Coast, you guys rock.

I’m visiting my sister in OB, and wanted a new hat and wallet! I found one I loved(so many to choose from)! While I was shopping the girl up front entertained my kid and even gave themselves matching tattoo’s! I left to go eat and realized I liked a different hat better. I went back to exchange it and had no issues at all. I wish I would have caught her name cause she needs to be recognized.. shirt girl with dark hair :)

Poor customer service policies and lack of desire to work with customer. No refunds, only store credit or exchanges. Well I wanted the item I purchased, but since it was poorly made and started to fall apart one week after purchase(lettering peeled off), I returned it. Only store credit or an exchange? Why would I want another defective piece? And I don’t spend my money frivolously so I don’t want store credit to buy something I don’t need. Personnel were nice, although ultimately unhelpful and body language read: «not my problem». Even manager pretty much just shrugged her shoulders and told me she couldn’t help me. Policy adjustments can always be made, and should be made for defective merchandise. The store policy is not geared toward helping customers or encouraging repeat business. The South Coast Surf Shops are just another corporate cog geared towards the dollar rather than good a business community and positive customer experiences.

Before, O.B. surf chicks needed to travel over to Pacific Beach to the South Coast Wahines Pacific Beach to find the perfect wetsuit or cool flip-flops. But that is a thing of the past because South Coast Wahines now has an Ocean Beach location! This is South Coast’s second women’s only surf-and-beach boutique and all props to them for catering to the ladies of O.B. South Coast has been around for a while – like 30 years – and the new surf chick store opened recently in the spot on Newport Ave. where South Coast Long boards used to be. Finally, we beach babes have a chance to find something locally that will meet our own unique set of surf needs. Female jocks like to look nice too. It’s not just all women’s board shorts & cute tank tops here. l Today, there are some 30 surf wear retail manufacturers that cater to women. I checked it out & loved the hardwood floors & groovy shag carpeting. South Coast classed it up for the ladies with a crystal chandelier & comfy changing rooms. There are good quality brands sold here like Oakley Ladies, TOMS, Billabong & Roxy, O’Neill’s and an all-female staff to cater to your every need. I love my Pura Vida bracelet ! Totally reminds me of Costa Rica. Every woman that strolls Newport Ave. needs to stop by the O.B. Wahines and support your local female surfer & store!
