This place left a bad taste in my mouth even before I set foot in the doors. It was 1am on a Saturday night and my crew was looking for another spot where we can hang out. A buddy found this place. It wasn’t until we reached the doors after a 10 minute über ride that we were told it was a 30 dollar cover charge? Really? It’s 1am. You’re only open for another 2 hours tops and you’re still charging cover? Ridiculous. Not even clubs in San Francisco pull that crap. If it were me running the place, I would let the stragglers come in for free and bank on the amount of drinks they’re going to try to sneak in the last hour or so. You’ll definitely make your money’s worth. And besides, the outside of this place reminds me of the setting when you watch the news and someone gets shot outside a club — in a weird abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. Take heed folks.

Came here on a Friday night after reading all the positive reviews. Ugh! What an utter waste of time. I wish I could erase the memory of this night. They charged us $ 20 cover to enter the club, which seems incredibly steep for a club like this one. It is completely run down and looks incredibly shady. I was apprehensive to even have a drink at this place. They had blocked the third floor off, so all we had was the really small dance floor on the first floor. Some reviews said there was hookah on the top floor but the management refused to acknowledge that they ever served hookah here. It is as shady inside as it is outside the club. The only upside was that the music was not half bad. Apart from that, absolutely terrible!

This club used to be really good, as of recently it has been in a huge decline. It’s hard to tell which came first but they charge $ 4 for bottled water here and refuse to give free water from the tap. I was a DJ playing there on the 2nd stage in sweltering heat and was told by the bartender I can’t have free water… Total BS… I had already spent a decent amount of money on drinks and should at least be able to rehydrate and sober up a little before getting on the road, they could be causing DUIs with this behavior BTW.

The Jamaican food on the 3rd floor was the best part of this club. I’m a tourist… From the moment we arrived we learned the service was horrible. We got in the«Regular» admission line and we were searched worse than TSA! Realized wait we’re doing VIP, directed rudely by the cashier where to go. Why were we searched again?!! It was humiliating and downgrading! Security Guards rude and unprofessional. Now inside, VIP2nd floor Ok! I’m used to upscale clubs where VIP customers are treated slightly different. Didn’t like the service provided. 1:30am their calling last calll… Cool but security made us chug down the bottle of remaining liquor. Why?! They are not allowed to serve alcohol past 2am but I’m entitled to hold my drink it was purchased by 2am?! Now what took me over the top is we were illegally charged the amount of our reciepts and prices advertised! Yes! I signed for one amount and they billed me 3 times that!!! They are ripping people off! Please check your accounts people!!! Reporting them to the BBB(Better Business Bureau)

Okay, I normally wouldn’t review a nightclub because, really… they’re all the same. Aggro bouncers, ridiculous crowds of the worst kinds of people, no room to dance or even breathe… you know how it goes. Spin was a really nice surprise. I finally got around to checking it out and am happy to say it really impressed me. The layout is perfect. Tons of room, multiple bars, rooftop and outdoor mezzanine, decent sound… it was great! I got there around 1am this past Saturday for their Darkside party and got a great vibe from the moment I walked in. It had that old school rave feel – nothing like what you’d experience at Bang Bang or Bassmnt. The bartender was super friendly given how late it was and I had a drink in hand in less than 5 minutes from entering the club(umm what?). Bouncers weren’t dicks… dance floor was poppin… everyone was decked out for the Star Wars theme. It was as close to underground as I’ve seen yet in SD. Nice to know we have an after-hours spot that’s open til 4. What’s even better is there’s a late night surfliner that will drop you off in Old Town a mile away. Bummed I missed Planet of the Drums. DnB is a rarity here. Now I know to keep my eyes open for future events…

I’m not sure how Spin is on a non-event night, but this is my favorite spot in SD for dancing. I don’t consider myself to be a ‘club person’(i.e., I’m not into wearing stilettos and getting dry humped by strangers), and Spin is the perfect place if you want to go out dancing, but you don’t want all of the pretentious or showy elements of the typical club scene. All of the events that I’ve been to(perhaps because I go to see specific musicians and DJs) have a decidedly more burner kind of vibe. People that go there are typically there for the music, dancing, and just to have a good time and the scene is much more laid back and not trying to be flashy. All of that being said, the drinks are way overpriced. Also, the headliners usually go on around 1:30am since the club is open until 4am. I like that the venue stays open late, but would prefer that the headliners go on a bit earlier.

I just watched my friends get beat up by this bald headed security guard! And the other security guard egging it on. This establishment is not safe.

The desert hearts party here on 4÷11÷15 was the best party I went to all year!(I’ve only been here once for this awesome party so the club may vary depending on the event) 1. Pulled right up, walked right in, friendly bouncers, no line. 2. AMAZINGSETUP! Big main room on the ground level with a loungey couch area to chill on both sides of the dance floor and a huge bar in the back. There’s an elevator that takes you up to the second floor(the balcony), it overlooks the dance floor and has cool art and merch booths set up. There’s also a bathroom, a smokers patio, and a few seating areas on this floor. If you take the elly up to the rooftop there’s another DJ with a huge seating area, and a huge bar. I mean honestly what an awesome layout for a nightclub! 3. The music is amazing! Underground techno and house. 4. General Admission, no VIP, no restricted VIP areas/bathrooms. This ultimately leads to good vibes and a good crowd because people don’t act above anyone else. We all just got along and enjoyed the music without the bullshit status of «popping bottles». 5. The party I went to went from 9pm-9am. They shut the bar down at 2am(dumb Cali law) and then opened back up again at 6am(dope). If you are like me and are unimpressed with: bouncers with snarky attitudes, VIP assholes, and not being allowed in because one of your guy friends is wearing a t shirt, then this is the place for you. Come here if you want to party in a casual environment that runs late, with good music and good vibes.

I cannot believe this club is open until 4am. Of course they stop serving alcohol at 1:30am and then the cases and cases of water come out… The day I came here I was in downtown and some friends were here. A DJ name pumpkin was spinning and they were a fan. I honestly am so used to the hardcore EDM festival, you know the one with a bunch of Asians rolling to like David Guetta or Swedish, ZEDD, etc. But here it was a totally different scene for me. I was a bit surprised to actually only hear real house music and not that mainstream shit. It was actually good. The DJ before Pumpkin did a better job, he even busted out his saxophone and other things… it got weird! Lol. But you can tell everyone was on something. It was very mellow and shirts off. haha I would definitely come back if I wanted this experience again. It’s also located really close to where I live, now I can hangout with friends til 4am in the morrrrning and be happppy… you know what I mean =D

Not a totally bad club but honestly paying $ 25 to attend the Brazilian Carnival to find out that the place is kind of rundown, plus the musicians did not even seem very happy to be there… hum, no thanks. Also, no drinks included with the entry ticket. I found the dancers were not engaging the audience, just dancing with their own friends gathered there to cheer them up. I am glad I went with a large group of girlfriends, so we can have our own fun(it was supposed to be a constantly entertaining event, but I found it pretty boring and not to compare to the Brazilian carnivals of the legendary 4th&B. On the good side, the parking was easy as this is located in a more secluded/industrial area close to the airport. Oh, if you are a woman looking to meet guys, avoid this type of event, 90% are women looking for the same as you. Zero romance, not even dance.

I was recently there for the first time for an Infected Mushroom concert. I had never hear of the band, but very good. I digress. The venue was pretty comfortable with 3 floors with dance floors and bars on each one. I liked how convenient it was to smoke, as well. My one knock was that the bars varied greatly in service. The first bar we went to, my girl had to wait 15 minutes for a drink because the second bartender was talking to a boy in the corner the whole time and the other bartender couldn’t keep up with the volume. The other bars were on point. I guess it’s really just a knock on that one female bartender wearing the red thong onesie. The drinks we did get were good though, just a little pricey.

I started clubbing at spin and have some really great memories there. Not as upscale and modern as fluxx or bassmnt but always a good crowd. Back before EDM was so popular, some amazing DJs would play at spin, but now those artists rarely visit spin. You can catch more underground DJs now. basstribe and other burner groups occasionally do shows there. Inside the first floor is the main room with a large bar and sunken dance floor with rails along the side. Nothing fancy as far as lights and décor go, but a pretty decent and loud sound system. There are some vip tables tucked in the back if you feel like doing bottle service. The second floor is more like a cat walk looking down on the dance floor but has another bar and bathrooms. Theres also there’s a second room which usually has another dj so you can get a little change of scenery. Take the stairs up to the rooftop lounge to get some fresh air and a great view of city. There’s couches and tables and a fire pit, perfect for taking a break from dancing. Since they stay open to 4am, you can really party deep into the night. Once 2 am hits, a new batch of clubbers comes in for the after hours dancing. Indeed The freaks come out at night.

Spin nightclub is the place to go if you want a solid variety of underground electronic music. I love the fact that this place draws in talented DJ’s /producers from all over the world. I mainly go for house & techno, but have seen some glitch & dubstep shows here as well. They also do rap & reggae, but I cannot attest for those nights. In my experience Spin nightclub usually doesn’t get too crowded, which is another reason I like it so much. This is not your typical downtown top 40 club(thank god), as people tend come here to hear amazing music and dance, not to dress up & be seen. I once heard a girl complain that she didn’t know how to dance to some amazing house music Skream was spinning, but she was just a dumb hoe. The area surrounding the club may seem a bit sketch, but I’ve yet to have any problems & I’ve been going for over four years now. The bartenders are typical bartenders & the drink prices are a bit higher than I’d like them to be, but it’s not outrageous for this type of nightclub. There are two dance floors & a rooftop area where people go to get some air, talk & smoke. Bathrooms can get disgusting, but again, this is typical of most nightclubs. If you’re not coming here for the music then you’ve sadly missed the point. I personally love Spin Nightclub, as it’s my favorite in San Diego.

myPley: I only Come on the first Friday of the month, which is all r&b and hip hop nights. Long story short, I dress my best, stroll up to the doors, pay my cover, smoothly slide in, and indulge in twerk heaven, booty shaking paradise, and a grinding buffett. The manner of dancing that advances in here, well, lets just say that if a lost elderly hitchhiker accidently walked in, he or she would think to themselves«hmm, they do it with clothes on nowadays I see, who woulda thunk.» The hitchhiker would make a quick exit upon noticing that Spin was not the destination. After reaching wherever they had to go, the hitchhiker would sit down near a desk, scratch their head and softly murmur to the theirself, «With clothes on? Around everyone else? Hmm, times have changed.» Big props to Spin for facilitating an uncut and pure hip hop and r&b scene.

So, this place is in the shadiest of shady areas… wedged directly between the freeway and the train tracks behind the airport. In broad daylight, I wouldn’t even know it existed. Once inside however,(past the less than friendly and enthusiastic staff at the front ticket area) you seemingly enter a whole new world. No, i’m not saying you’re looking at the rooftops of buildings from the skies of Agrabah, HOWEVER – This place is pretty rad. 3 stories of fun for everyone. First floor encompasses a «dance pit» where others can look down at you as they sip on increasingly pricey alcoholic beverages… Second floor holds a balcony which also looks down on the pit of dancers, but has the bathroom and another bar in close proximity.(On opposite sides of the building of course!) And last but not least, the rooftop. Minibar, hookah and fire pits. What more could you possibly ask for on a friday or saturday night under the beautiful san diego sky? I was struggling between a 4 or a 3 star rating for a few reasons. I settled with a 3 for the horrible lack of parking and location. Aside from that however, I had a very pleasant experience. Music was good, facility as a whole wasn’t as grimy as it looked like from the outside, and the drinks though not half bad, were however, overpriced. i’m going to have to say that in all my «clubbing» experience, SPIN has by far offered me more bang for my buck… you can’t beat live entertainment, and 3 levels of unpredictable fun. I mean really… you just cant… and so with that being said… despite my current 3 star rating I do in fact look forward to going back and exploring things a little more. Care to dance?

I had a blast! The music was awesome! This was my first time ever going to a place like this. There’s 3 floors and every floor was different and you can get a message on floor number two. It was a great experience. If you have never been go check it out.

This place just started serving hookahs on the 3rd floor. They have a good menu of Flavors and they last a long time. Some nights it’s only $ 10 which is so worth it. Nice lounge and heaters for the outdoor area to keep warm. I would recommend this place to friends !

Did I fear for my life? YES! Plenty of arguments going on and security having to step in! Crazy place! Expensive drinks and $ 20 cover!!! We aren’t in Vegas. We are in some shady looking industrial area with a random nightclub! Only good thing is that they are open late and my group ended up going out after 1am so it was the only place to check out.
