Highest of fish quality. Fast pick up and/or delivery. I highly suggest trying their mushroom app. This place gives a ton of healthy choices and even sell their own cold pressed juices.

I can happily report that the gari is now within normal standards and there are dishes for soy sauce. Restaurant is still very clean. More importantly, the fish quality remains among the highest in the neighborhood and the prices are still a bargain for people who are interested in fresh fish nigiri. Service is great and they are obviously making customer satisfaction a focus. Wanted to add that I just had the best chicken katsu that I can remember here. The cut was perfect for katsu, moist, flavorful, and not just a boring cut of breast fillet. Almost thought it was pork when I first got it.

Cute little sushi place that my friend and I enjoyed while visiting in San diego. The California roll was absolutely delicious, and so so fresh! They put NYC sushi to shame. Anywho, we ordered at the registered and the food came within 15 minutes. After checking in on Unilocal we were served a big portion of edamame. Overall the quality of the fish and the presentation was way better than any NYC based sushi chain. A++

My girlfriend and I stopped in around 9PM and there was only on other person inside. We both ordered a bento box, Bento Box One and Bento Box Three. They brought out our bento in courses. We had he miso soup first, which wasn’t bad! Then they brought out the sushi part of our bentos. My box had nigiri and their Salmon Lemon Hako. The nigiri was tuna and salmon. The fish was cut thick and tasted delicious and the texture was like butter. I enjoyed it thoroughly. My gf had the teriyaki chicken in hers and she loved it, said the chicken tasted fresh. The décor is modern and clean. I find it refreshing! They also served cold pressed juice, but I didn’t get any this time. Overall the experience was fun! They have quite an extensive menu so we’ll definitely have to come back to try the more«unconventional» sushi, like their sushi burrito! We definitely would recommend this spot to others!

This place is so poorly run. When my party of 3 walked in there was one couple in the entire place and already eating. I ordered at the counter. 2 rolls, edamame, small hot sake and two beers. I got the beer right away… Because it’s in a display case by the front counter. Edamame took about 15 – 20 minutes to come out. I had to ask about the sake. That took about 25 minutes to get. The two rolls we ordered came out about 35 minutes after we ordered. My friend also ordered at the counter right after I did. She ordered two rolls, jalapeño poppers and a beer. After we ate the edamame she asked where the jalapeño poppers were and they said coming right up even though they hadn’t even started them yet so we canceled that order. My friend and I were finished with our 2 rolls that came out after 35 minutes and we were all three sitting there waiting for our other friends 2 rolls to come out. She eventually got them about an hour after she ordered. Yes 60 minutes-six zero! The yellowtail was very fishy. And there was nothing fancy about the rolls considering the price. The rolls were very small. Normally I’m full after 1 roll-not the case with this place. There were three employees. One very slow make working the register, and shaggy scruffy looking male making the roles and another male in the back doing who knows what. We chose this place because of the good Unilocal reviews and can only hope that the previous reviewers actually enjoyed their meals and aren’t friends of the establishment employees and owners! It’s you’re on the fence about this place, jump off and run the other direction.

I wanted to Love this restaurant, especially since they offered healthy options like quinoa and brown rice to be used in the rolls. I was a bit alarmed that I was the only customer when I visited at prime lunch hour on a Wednesday afternoon. I was hoping that they had a sushi lunch special, but they only seem to offer bento boxes that were a little pricey and offered for both lunch and dinner. The rolls themselves were high, so I decided to go for it and create my own roll(neat feature!) I came up with an avocado asparagus roll with quinoa and brown rice, and salmon on top. The roll itself came and was very tiny. I’m not sure if this is typical of all of their rolls or just the do-it-yourself option. The ingredients were fresh, but the roll seemed to fall apart easily(likely the quinoa). I also created an avo-cucumber roll with eel and eel sauce/spicy mayo. The eel was very dry, so I asked for more eel sauce. It was unexpectedly runny and just made the roll wet when I went to add some on top. I wasn’t impressed with this roll at all. All in all, I spent way too much for the portion and experience. The employees were super nice, however, and I appreciated the healthy intent. I just hope the quality improves and they offer some lunch specials in the future.

I stumbled upon this place after getting boba with my mom and brother and it was a nice surprise(: they didn’t mind that we had drinks from another place(idk some people are really anal about that which is understandable but eh) and the two people working were nice and informative. You can build your own sushi or sushi burrito and they don’t get mad if you’re picky like me and make changes to their menu items. They’re a bit pricy but I assure you it’s worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious and filling. I’d definitely go back and try more items on the menu.

This spot seemingly popped up out of nowhere on 5th Ave. and we just had to stop in to check it out as we walked by one night. It is set up like a casual dining establishment that may have had you order at the front and then choose an open table with your number at one point. However, we were greeted by someone immediately as we walked in and were shown to a table where we were waited on the duration of our mini-meal. Upon receiving the menu I was delighted to see the Create Your Own Sushi section, which is perfect for sushi amateurs like me! They have all sorts of ingredients to choose from and the pricing for each upgrade clearly written on the menu so you know what you’re paying for. I was super curious about the quinoa and brown rice option(they also offer white rice and brown rice) so I had to order it. It was really tasty and is such a great healthy alternative to white rice! I was concerned that the mixture of the quinoa with the brown rice wouldn’t hold up to my soy sauce baths, but it held the roll together just fine! The pricing was spot on and I even felt like the Create Your Own option was reasonably priced. Obviously, it gets ore expensive with the more crazy ingredients you add. I also really liked the staff. We were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time so we got to chat and inquire about the restaurant a bit. Everyone was super friendly and we were intrigued to hear that a well known sushi chef was behind the creation of this place. Super cool! On another note, they offer delivery through their app which you can download on your phone. You just put in your order, pay and boom! It arrives to your door! Love it!

Excited to try this new sushi restaurant based solely on their logo. It’s a nice, clean logo. That pretty much sums up the place. It’s a nice, clean place. It was nice, clean sushi. I had a roll with strawberry slices on top and it was dope. Prices were hit or miss. $ 5 for Cali roll, $ 12 for something fancy. Pretty standard. However, I’m docking a star for confusion. I had no idea how this place worked from my first foot in the door. I was the only person there. The guy at the counter is pretty off-putting, but not taking it personally. He half-heartedly asked if I needed a menu(um, yes.). He half-heartedly said, «you can sit there.» I still didn’t get where to sit. I digress. The sushi chef was super friendly. If they buttoned up with how this place operates it would be great.

Very yummy sushi! This place is ultra clean, friendly staff, quick and easy! The food is is prepared perfectly. I liked the brown rice option. The rainbow roll had a great selection on it and was generous with the fish. The spicy yellow tail roll is a for sure must for us. Check in and you get free edamame!

Uhm where do I start?! Sushi burrito was amazing and fulfilling! Get the rainbow one for most protein. Hillcrest has been needing a fresh sushi spot for a long time now and this restaurant brings quality product & service. If you enjoy clean, upbeat, friendly people as well as a full tummy you’ll love sushi co! Ramone & Andre have built a very welcoming environment where you can easily bring friends. Catch up with family. Or just get some emails done for work. I’ve spent more on the To Go items because of its fast production. Though I love sitting by the window and people watching while I enjoy my lunch as well. They have a north county vibe with downtown energy!

$ 14 fresh spring rolls? Ridiculous price. We spent $ 60 here for 2 people in deli like atmosphere. Sushi was very«clean» and healthy tasting. Serves typical rolls, nothing creative. Miso was good. Service was ok. Just over priced for what it was.

I ordered my food through EAT24 and was excited for the food since I had been craving Sushi and their reviews were good. I waited patiently for over an hour and 15 minutes and my stomach was growling. I began getting HANGRY after the fact that I called the Sushi place multiple times to follow up on my order, but nobody answered the 4 times I dialed. There was no voicemail(something that should be fixed) and no answer. I messaged EAT24 and they got in contact with the place. I received a call from the place an hour & a half after I placed my order, apologizing and stating they had not received it from EAT24 and were finally on their way. The Sushi place owner personally introduced himself when he delivered my food. He apologized various times and gave me a discount to make up for my wait time, something a good business owner would do. Props for that! As a past location manager, I appreciate when the right service is given to customers. When it came down to grubbing, I LOVED their sushi. I wouldn’t say it was worth the wait, because I was starving, but it was pretty damn delicious. I ordered the Edamame, Spicy Tuna Hand Roll & The Crunchy Salmon something. Definitely recommend(MAYBEDINE-INTHOUGH! lol) Thanks for making it up to me! You’re A-OK & I’ll probably order from you guys another time. Just please, dont take an hour and a half to deliver my food next time haha

This new sushi joint in Hillcrest is absolutely dope! it’s in a perfect location and offers up some of the best fish I’ve had next to Sushi Tadokoro. Walking in, you get a feeling that this isn’t a sit down restaurant, but on the contrary. After reading some previous Unilocal reviews, I saw that some people had an issue with the order at the counter process, but that’s changed. They now have a waiter that provides impeccable service and even tells you what the chef picked up at the market that morning. They have a great happy hour of half off appetizers and 1 $ off beers making the beer a measly 3 $. I’m a huge fan of the build your own roll menu so I can eliminate the avocado and cucumber inserted into every roll made in town. Give me the good stuff only! Sushi Co. is now in my top 3 of sushi bars in town.

First of all, the place itself its really clean, well organized, and the lights gives a perfect«tone» for the ambient. All the rolls that i’ve tried were super good and very well presented besides the good quality of the fish. I recommend you to try the Ruby Roll. O wow, different and a very good taste. Service is excellent and price is good. Definitely coming back !!

The best Sushi place in town! If you are ever in San Diego you have to eat there! Amazing food, very fresh and mostly organic, unusual creations, super friendly staff, very clean and beautiful place and positive atmosphere! After our first dinner at Sushi Co. we were so happy with the quality of the food, the great service and atmosphere of the place, we decided to go there again during our next visit to San Diego. And again we were not disappointed. Especially the yellowtail belly nigiri and the tuna were amazing — melting in the mouth, perfectly fresh, some of the best fish we ever had and on top of it all organic which is very important to us and hard to find! We also really loved the seaweed salad and the Salmon Lemon Hako was a surprising and exciting new variation of sushi that literally explodes in the mouth. A word also has to be said for the drinks — you get complimentary water which does not taste like chlorine but rather like the fresh strawberries or cucumbers in the dispenser as well as complimentary ice tea with your sushi or you can choose from a variety of fresh home-made organic juices which are delicious and super-healthy. We will definitely come again on our next visit to San Diego!

I simply can’t fathom why a place that takes 30 minutes per order wouldn’t just have an actual restaurant establishment with servers. We were the only people there too! The food quality is great, but 30 $ for a meal for one of a sushi burrito, and a single roll that all leaves me hungry? Nah. Wouldn’t recommend, just go to a restaurant where you can enjoy your cucumber water with a server and non stuffy atmosphere. «Sushi burrito» means uncut roll, about 6 pieces of regularly sized sushi, but they put SOMUCHRICE it must be at least 50% of what you are getting. Go to a real sushi restaurant, this would be great for the overly wealthy in the area with not enough time and too much money. Tldr; –Expensive –Takes forever –Not filling

We love to try new restaurants in the area, but I would NOT recommend this one. We waited over a half hour for an appetizer and another 15 minutes for a sushi burrito. The veggie tempura was terrible and the burrito was so terrible I had to send it back. The shrimp tasted old. They offered to remake it but I didn’t have another 45 minutes to wait. I was dissatisfied and left hungry. And I was not the only one in the party who left unhappy.

I enjoyed some nice cut rolls from this new sushi bar. I took advantage of their make your on rolls and they can be very reasonable if you don’t go to crazy with the fillings and toppings. Me, I like my rolls very simple and more on the traditional side. For example, I was able to build a simple Tekka Maki or tuna roll with wasabi inside for $ 6. The tuna in the roll was excellent. I learned that the owner, personally purchased the fish for the day through local fisherman or an established fish merchant. So, I was not surprised on how well the tuna tasted. It had that rich and buttery texture that simply melted in the mouth. It flavor was rich and somewhat meaty with absolutely now fishy taste. Well done. At $ 6.50, I built a Yellow Tail roll with asparagus, white rice, and seaweed on the outside. The roll was quite good. The yellow tail may have not been as rich as the tuna in the tuna roll, but it did have smooth buttery texture and had a pleasant sweet after taste. The asparagus, not only tasted great, but was well blanched to an al dente feel which gave the roll nice texture. I really prefer the more simply rolls, but even if you are some toppings on the outside of the roll, you can still build a decent roll for under $ 10. Service was very good, and if you do not see a roll on the menu to your liking, create your own with exactly the ingredients you want.

I think the idea of this restaurant is really cool. The entire place has an urban feel, is very clean and is run by some really nice guys. BUT it’s self serve and is a fast food style restaurant meaning you go up to the register, order, and then go grab your drink to wait for the food to be ready. This isn’t a bad thing I actually really like it, but the price of the sushi is ridiculous for the service you receive(which is next to none) and quality of sushi they serve(which is just okay). If they reduce the prices of the sushi I would most definitely come here again… until then, I’ll only be ordering delivery from them if I’m super desperate for sushi and too lazy to walk to a restaurant.
