Really good place for soju especially their pineapple soju special which comes in a real pineapple. A little pricey, but really good. Parking can be an issue. You have more chance parking on the street than finding one in the complex.

I gave 2 because we came in to a wall and it was set up bad. Then there was no real direction we were going and then they put us in the far corner and after about 5 mins someone brought us some water and we never saw her again. We waited about another 20 mins then we bounced. The other thing that stood out was the pic up by the door it was a drawing of one punch man and that’s what saved them from one star!

Had a real good time here on a busy Friday night thanks to JR, Jessica and Emily(taught us a bunch of Korean drinking games). Easily the best time we’ve had in a long time out on Convoy, definitely coming back again!

My boyfriend of 3 years took me here for one of our very first dates! I loved how cool and different the ambiance of this restaurant was! I loved the wooden booths and dim lighting! It made it feel so mysterious in an awesome way! When we sat down and I saw the menu, I just knew immediately I wasn’t going to know what I wanted to get! luckily my boyfriend is very familiar wish Korean dishes! He helped me out a lot! The waitress also explained a lot about dishes! They brought out a couple little appetizers along with chips and salsa! Which I was very familiar with! He also said we should order some soju! He ordered a couple little small orders and I tried it all! We ended up having a lot of fun here, we weren’t in a rush, had a little soju, had a couple small dishes and it was generally a great time! The chalk board was super fun too! I ended up wanting to come have my bday dinner here 2 years later!

We had just finished eating dinner at the same strip mall and I suggested coming here afterwards because I was still hungry and not satisfied. I didn’t realize that I ate here before! A friend of mine took me here over 5 years ago and I remember the food being pretty good! I think I just had the rice noodles and tried whatever he ordered. The atmosphere is very dim here and smaller booths feel secluded and private. We rang the bell for service and just ordered the wings since my friend said it was so good. We also got complimentary side dishes, but I didn’t really care for any of them. I usually like the pickles, but this one was straight from the jar, with no spicy marinade. Service was good. Our wings came with a side salad and arrived pretty quickly. They were very flavorful and pretty big! I really liked the spicy and sweet sauce the wings were drenched in. I’ll have to come back and try their soju and other food items next time when I leave more room in my tummy.

The music! The chalk board walls to right on! The soju! That’s what brings us back to this place from time to time. It used to be the free peanuts but didn’t see any there when we went(Halloween 2015) We came just for the soju this last time with 2 friends. Ordered the peach and the lychee soju. Regular size was good enough to last us 3 – 5 shots each. Nice touch — they ice the shot glasses. Lychee had a taste of pineapple to it and it was pretty good. Peach tasted like peach candy and was ehh. I know you can mix flavors too if you’re adventurous. The booths make the place good for small groups of friends(4 – 8). There is just enough music going that you can enjoy the tune-age but still have great convo’s. We were graced with Lupe Fiasco for an hour while we played Heads Up. There was a table of 4 – 6 people next to us but could barely hear them. Overall would come here again. Food seems a little pricey but was a good experience for everything else.

Beef bulgogi was …would definitely come back for that. the fried pork thing with the sweet abs sour sauce not so much. It had no flavor. Even the sweet and sour sauce tasted like water. Side dishes were good especially the spicy pickles. Service was good. Waitress helped me out alot. Only 4 stars because of the flavorless fried pork. Will definitely be back though.

We love coming here. They have flavored Soju, delicious food, and the service is impeccable. They are very kind and out going here. I love how you have a button to push when you need something rather than being bombarded by questions from the staff mid mouthful of food. Highly recommend! Our server was so kind, it was our friends birthday and she really spoiled us.

I’ve always had a good time when I come here with my friends, I’d say this is mostly because of the soju! The yogurt soju here is just delicious! They got all kinds of different fruit flavors and all of them taste good and are able to get me buzzed. I also really like how the tables are organized into booths. It’s just you and your friends in the booth, secluded from others which I find very cozy and easier to have a good time. The last time I came, my friend and I shared the bulgogi and seafood pancake. The bulgogi was a little dry but the seafood pancake was delicious! I’ve also had their kimchi fried rice which was decent as well. The staff here were really friendly and helpful, the only down side of this place is that it’s a little pricey. Nevertheless, I’ve always enjoyed my time with my friends here at Thang Thang and will definitely keep coming back.

We came in at 1130pm and they welcomed us nicely! The atmosphere is very interesting. Wooden booths and chalk that you can use to write on the walls, permanently leaving your mark! I loved the appetizers. Hot dog with ketchup, seaweed pickled with kimchi, fish cakes. I didn’t know what I was eating but it was delicious!!! I ordered the steamed egg roll for my entrée($ 7.99). It was so large! The length of my forearm and stuffed with vegetables and ham. Went well with the appetizers as well because it didn’t appear to be salted. But I liked it!

I’ve been coming back a few times after my first visit last year and I’m giving them one more star than my last review(from 3 to 4 stars!) Haven’t tried anything new, but the spicy chicken wings and soju are still sooo good! I take back what I said about the chicken being too pricey, $ 9.99 isn’t bad at all. The wings were perfectly spicy and tangy. The wings were served with Banchan(Korean side dishes), yum! Our large soju was served with chips and salsa. You can mix soju flavors and ask for more chips & salsa and/or banchan. On that note, received very good service on a Friday night sound 9ish-10ish. Servers were very friendly and offered to refill our chips n salsa/side dishes multiple times. One side note that happens every time I enter is I’m not sure if I’m supposed to walk in the door and wait for a hostess… or keep walking into the restaurant to be seated. EVERYTIME I wait at the door awkwardly and realize no one’s coming, so I walk in a little farther and then the hostess/server comes out of nowhere to seat us. Pretty confusing and awkward on my part hahaha

Good place for groups of friends. It’s fun if you don’t want to spend a lot on food and want to accommodate a large group. Soju,(instant) ramen, free peanuts, and other bar food. It’s similar to Min Sok Chon except without the karaōke rooms. You have a bit more privacy with your party here since each seating area is sectioned off with a chalkboard that you can write on. They also offer other alcoholic drinks. The group of guys I went with recently got a bowl of AMF! From what I can remember, the price wasn’t bad at all. They play korean music videos on the TVs while you listen to hip hop, pop and EDM throughout the restaurant. Kinda tacky, but very entertaining haha Parking is really small and can be very bad especially on weekends, but you can just park on the street and walk a bit over to the restaurant.

I’ve been here a handful of times and finally decided to write a review!(I’ve only been here after 10pm) This place could be hard to miss, but when you turn right from Convoy to Engineer Road, it is in the first set of businesses on the corner. My favorite part about this place is that it is open late, even on the weekdays! When you walk in it is a bit dark, but it doesn’t take very long for staff to come seat everyone. The booths are divided by rooms made of wood, so it is intimate and you can focus on the group you’re with. It can get very loud with people drinking alcohol, so it does help. On the wall of each booth, there are chalk boards and the staff encourage games. They even provide the chalk. That’s cool and time seems to fly while waiting for the food! TRYTHEBOSSAM. ITISDELICIOUS. It is a special pork belly dish, where it is thinly sliced and served with pickled lettuce and spicy pickled radish. You can make wraps and pair garlic and chili’s with different bites. It is amazing. The spicy Chicken wings are sweet, spicy, and sticky with this red glaze. When they first come out, they’re still even a little bit crunchy. The Bossam and Chicken Wings are great to Share too! They offer many dishes, like soups and stews. Many people come here to drunk alcohol and relax. I’ve never tried the stew that cooks at the table. They’re usually served family style and the pot is on a burner at the table. That’d probably be the next thing I’d try! Good place for late night Korean Food!

When you first come in, youre greeted by a wall of one of the booths. We had to go all the way to the hostess stand in the back for her to seat us. The décor in this restaurant reminds me of a prison camp. There is hardly any lighting and the food didn’t taste very good/flavorful to compensate for the high price. The yogurt soju was pretty weak as well. We needed 2 carafes to feel a light buzz. The service was friendly and speed was pretty okay since they only had 1 server for the entire restaurant.(It was a slow night).

My first reaction to this restaurant was where am I? The ambiance is very dark with little lighting. Hard to see… Here’s WHY I gave this place a 1 Star: We weren’t greeted at the door and had to look for the server. The hostess counter is hidden behind the middle section tables by the entrance door with no visibility to notice it existed — unless you walked around. When we walked in, all we heard was the door bell ringing behind us. No greetings or approach from any staff. We walked inside and found a server. Not a single word came out of his mouth. He sat us at a bench table. The cushion on the bench was ridiculously uncomfortable, and was roughly 2 feet apart from the table. My bums kept sliding downward with the cushion. Maybe their made for petit people who weigh less than 100 lbs. The seats annoyed the crap out me! I couldn’t wait to leave the restaurant!!! –Minus 1 star* The server automatically dropped 2 waters at our table. Didn’t offer us fountain drinks or special beverages. So, I asked for hot water with lemon. He nodded his head(up and down) I assumed that he understood. I was wrong! I had to remind him twice and then gave up. –Minus 1 star * I had an appetite for Ramen Noodles hoping the $ 7.99 Ramen would taste good. The Ramen Noodles looked and tasted like the package ramen noodles that you can purchase at the supermarket. The ones my parents fed me during my youth days after school even taste better! I took the 1st sip of the Ramen broth and boy was it salty. The noodles was too soft and over cooked. THUMBS-DOWN! The $ 7.99 «homemade chicken dumpling» caught my eyes on the menu. We ordered it steamed. It was served cold. Possibly pre-made dumblings. They didn’t taste fresh. Next, the $ 7.99 fried potatoe cheese balls. The inside is smash potatoes with cheese filling shaped into a ball battered with panco crumbs deep fried. This was sickening! I bought home leftovers for my family to try, and the spit it right out and threw it inside the garbage.

The school theme they have going is interesting(but really. it becomes sort of meaningless to customers. Non-Koreans are unlikely to even acknowledge their theme). Good beer selections. I like their menu and how they divide it by prices. The food is pretty good(at least the ones I’ve tried): Rabokki(could be spicy for some people), Stir fried chicken gizzards, Wings. Overall, they could improve their side-dishes but in the end most people come here to drink. And side-dishes aren’t what compliment alcohol anyway. They have good service! Clean restaurant.

My boyfriend has always said good things about this place, and although he’s disappointed that they don’t have a barrel full of peanuts any longer(which pair well with beer), they do have chips and salsa… Which is odd, because this place is Korean? To each their own, I suppose. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. It was my first time, and my boyfriend’s millionth time, so he notices the changes every single time. It’s much more intimate and quiet in comparison to Min Sok Chon. At Thang Thangs, the wooden booths have dim lighting and there are thin, wooden, bamboo-like covers that can block you off from the rest of the restaurant. At MSC, they have curtains, but it’s mainly for the karaōke rooms. I like the atmosphere of this place. It’s calm, but when with your company, there’s always a good time ahead. My boyfriend and I double dated with his friends. Along with the complimentary chips and salsa, we ordered a bulgogi quesadilla, and they ordered a kimchi pancake. Like I said, isn’t this a Korean restaurant? There’s like a 5% Mexican fusion, which is funny, but there’s nothing wrong with that. The quesadilla tastes exactly how one would imagine. Instead of carne asada, it’s bulgogi, so there’s a sweeter taste. I didn’t try the kimchi pancake, but it’s pretty big in size and they all agree that it tastes amazing. For alcohol – the fun part – we ordered to regular sized soju bottles. Both flavored, strawberry and lychee, each $ 10.99. They were delicious! For one bottle, it’s about 5 – 6 shots worth for one person, and that’s almost to the rim of the shot gloss. I think that’s pretty good. The food on the menu is categorized by prices. There is a page with foods that are $ 7.99, $ 9.99, $ 12.99 and $ 15.99. I think I’d like to try their bulgogi hotpot next time. Overall, I thoroughly loved my experience! It was a good time, with good food and alcohol, and the waitress was kind and prompt.

Came by for a meeting. It’s a small little drinking/korean food establishment located on Engineer Road just behind Convoy. I’ve seen it during the many visits to Dae Jang Kum Korean BBQ(one of the best places to go for korean bbq in San Diego). but never took the opportunity to visit until now. It was Monday night, around 7pm. Each table is pretty private with the way the room was divided. Since not too many people soju party on a Monday night. it was pretty quiet and tolerable to hold a meeting without having to scream at one another. The first dish our group ordered was the kimchi pancake. It was delicious and a good size! Light crispy batter with enough kimchi and stuffing. A little steep on the price. but definitely yum. I was a little. appalled by the steep prices all around. definitely 1.5x higher than what I’m accustomed to paying for the dishes. Ordered the kimchi fried rice with spam. It’s a large portion. Tasty. Needed more spam and less onion. Pretty decent bachan(small side dishes). and most seemed very pleased with their dishes. The kimchi jjigae(stew) looked pretty yum and very deep in broth color. Service was also great. Overall, I think it was a pleasant find. the kimchi pancake was delicious. the portions are big. but still not big enough to match the price. Would probably consider visiting again for a chill drink and eat night with friends. Overall not too bad. 3.5 rounded up since our server was really on top of it and helpful.

A friend of ours was craving the bulgogi here. Of course, we are down to try new places that we have never been. Plus, we do love Korean food, so why not? The large soju is definitely bigger here than MSC although my bf thinks MSC’s is bigger. That means, I need to go back to both and compare, hah! When you enter, it’s sort of dark inside with areas of light. They do have chalkboards on the walls above each table. That’s pretty cool. We tried the bulgogi pork, spicy pork and the beef bulgogi. The spicy pork was pretty good. The service was not the best but it was not bad either since they were a tad slow. Overall, it was a cool place to try out. A tad pricier than certain competitors but we would go back and try some other dishes and soju flavors.
