The Windsmith is just the greatest place! Took my clarinet in to get a thumb rest changed over and they did it on the spot and also fixed a leak for me. They are so knowledgable and nothing is too much trouble. Well worth driving across town for — 5 stars all the way!

The gentleman there were great! They fixed my daughters flute in 5 minutes and it only cost $ 10. Amazing! I would recommend this place to any one that needs instruments repaired. I’m sure we will be back again. Thank you so much. Oh and Max is so sweet.

Nice dudes, very easy to work with. I dropped off a friend’s Sax for repair when I brought it here from Hawaii. Picked it up to bring it back to him, they played it to show me that it works great and went out of their way to keep the packaging and everything for me to load it up on the plane and bring it back to Hawaii. Yes, I’m using this an excuse to go back to Hawaii.

Brought in my Artist Symphony Trombone which was dented, misaligned, and overall abused by a student. Then someone tried to jam something inside to straighten it out, which just made it worse. Jim took the entire instrument apart, repaired, aligned, and polished it. Looks and Plays Great! I will certainly return with my brass and woodwind repairs/tune-ups. Thanks!

Franco saved my bacon on a last minute saxophone repair. Price was very reasonable, too — he’s got a customer for life!

These guys live up to their great reputation. They were very helpful, knowledgeable and if you can believe it affordable too! They gave my flute a quick once over, solved some problems and got me going for cheap. Thanks! I really appreciated it.

Franco does fantastic repair work. There are only a few people whom I allow to work on my clarinets and I will definitely take them back to Franco whenever I need anything taken care of. Extremely clean and precise repairs. Prices are excellent as well. A bit sad to see how much this store has downsized :(, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

The Winsdmith is a place I trust. I actually like taking my horn there, knowing that I will get expert workmanship, friendly service and I usually learn something new. Franco and Jim are always willing to spend the time to talk with me and explain what’s going on with my sax. Even if the shop is busy, I always get my baby back ASAP. Don’t take your horn anywhere else!

Unfortunately, its become a rarity in this town for good customer service along with expertise in a trade or a field. I’ve dealt with Jim and the rest of the shop for a variety of repairs and maintenance on my horn. Every time, it’s a win!

My wife and I know nothing about flutes. We went to «the windsmith» thinking we could buy one for our daughters first flute. Nope, they don’t sell them but they did spend plenty of time explaining the difference in flutes. Manufacturers, materials and what services they provide. So cool. We did find a used instrument, took it to them and they could have taken us for the full ride. Nope again, $ 5 for a new pad and a few extra bucks for cleaners, rags and such. To be sure they made customers out of us. Thanks. JG

Thank you Franco for your expertise and knowledge. I lucked out and got my saxophone repaired the same day. Excellent, friendly, professional staff. Much continued success to all The Windsmith.

I’ve been going to the Windsmith for about 4 years now, and it is still the best place for woodwind instruments, repairs and supplies. If you are a wind player this is definitely the place for you.

I have been a customer of The Windsmith for over 2 years. This is your full-service woodwind store. You need go no where else. I had my flute looked over and was told I should wait a year before getting an overhaul… anotherwords in a business where ripoffs are rampant, The Windsmith has a staff of extremely knowledgeable musician technicians who are not out for a buck. They also informed me that my flute was of good enough quality for my level that I need not upgrade right away. The staff of independent flute instructors is also amazing. I took lessons from Lori Bell for 2 years and learned so much… she is incredible. Then picked up with Adan Provencio and his Avanti Flute Choir so that I could brush up on my group playing. How is it there are two such excellent flute instructors in the same square mile? I feel very fortunate to have found The Windsmith!

I took my prof trombone in to fix a major bell crease and have the slide aligned. I did this on a Fri morning and had a show that night. I didn’t expect them to be able to fix it, but wanted a quote and eta. Much to my glee they said, «no problem I can fir you in this afternoon.» They did an outstanding job on the bell(sterling silver) taking care to work the metal so as to leave no unevenness or marks. The slide was so fast I was actually worried about it being too fast! Great work, great price, outstanding service!

Okay, music nerds unite. And make your way to the Windsmith. I’m a band teacher, and I love taking the instruments that my students beat the shit out of to the Windsmith. They do excellent repairs. Their customer service is unrivaled in San Diego county, AND they have just about everything you need to outfit your little one with an instrument and supplies. Whenever a student needs supplies or did something really stupid to their instrument that they need to get fixed on their own, I always recommend this place first. Now the Windsmith doesn’t sell guitars(there’s a place across University that’s right down from here), nor do they sell drums(go a couple doors down to Page Drums). Just woodwind and brass instruments and accessories, as well as method books. They do provide music lessons here, so inquire within. I used to live near here, but now I’m somewhat far away. I still make my way over though, because they’re just that good.

I haven’t been to the Windsmith in a couple of years, but I used to go there all the time for Saxophone related needs. The people were always friendly and always seemed to have what I needed. If I remember correctly, the last saxophone I bought was from the Windsmith. I still have her and she’s quite the beauty ;-) They’ve got what you need, and they’re good people. I remember them being closed on a funny day, but other than that, I have always had great experiences with the Windsmith.

If you hang out at The Windsmith long enough, you may be lucky enough to see a real, live jazz musician. San Diego doesn’t have much of a jazz scene, but we do have one – Dizzy’s, the Onyx room every Tuesday night and good ol’ Croce’s – and I think those who do play end up using The Windsmith as their resource for high-quality musical instruments and repair. I was there the other day and I saw a dude that looked like Dizzy Gillespie. Yeah, I know he died years ago, but a girl’s allowed to pretend, isn’t she?
