Came here for dinner and it was good. I got the tofu house soup which consist of a little bit of everything for the hot pot ingredients. When I received my soup it was boiling hot and so added an egg to have it cooked and it sure did the job! The soup base was decent. I was happy it wasn’t too salty. The I ingredients were super soft and yummy. I got medium for spicy and it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. But they do have spices on the side of you would like to make it spicier. One thing I wish they did was add more broth. I felt like everything was soaked up and I didn’t have anything to sip on. They also offer four side dishes here which I think they should offer 2 more side dishes for a good selection with your rice. I also got bulgogi and the meat was ok. They gave me a decent amount of meat which was nice with sautéed onion. Maybe next time I will ask for more broth!

For a tofu house in Mira Mesa there were not many Asian people in the restaurant when we went this past Saturday. All the workers I saw in the front of the house were Hispanic. Hmm. Decided to go with a hot stone bibimbap since I figured it was a safe choice? Not really. I doused my stone bowl with the the red sauce provided. First taste. Oops I used the bbq sauce bottle! Nope all the tables had the same bottle. Definitely a dark brown red in color and not the common bright red that is signature to it. Hubby had a kimchi tofu soup and it too came out an uncharacteristic brownish color. We are Korean so we know authentic Korean food. Food was definitely edible but just not what we were expecting. Plenty of tofu and bibimbap spots in Kearny Mesa. Will likely not return.

My kind of hot comfort Asian food. I’ve been here about 3 – 4 times with my hubby and son. It’s our go to place for rainy days. I don’t know why but we’ve come here on rainy days. I like the Bulgogi hot pot w/rice and I only like adding 1 egg. It’s fun to be able to crack your egg and stir it up with the Bulgogi rice veggie mix and it turns into fried rice. Lol! They also give you 2 sauces to add. It’s like a sweet Korean teriyaki kind of sauce and a hot sauce. It adds the flavor to your hot pot. It’s hot, spicy and delicious. The soup is good as well. I had ordered a seafood soup it had shrimp, oyster, calamari/squid, scallops, and lots of tofu. You can add egg to it but I don’t like the egg in it since it has a lot of ingredients already. It’s also a good place to bring your kids. They will love the Bulogi or is it spelled Bulgogi? Anyways it’s good with white rice. It comes out in a hot sizzle plate. Oh and the juice machine. I think it’s free cuz there’s a small sample cups. But My son loves the juice machine. It’s fruit punch and lemonade. Overall this place is a must go to place for Asian Korean comfort food.

Loved food. This is my first experience with tofu houses. The food was very hot and tasty. The price is very affordable and ambience is just fine. I definitely go back again.

This place is pretty basic when it comes to their cuisine. Sometimes it isn’t worth coming here especially when majority of the dishes are $ 10. But most Korean places are. Had the hot pot meat party and it was decent. Not much meat and the hot pot was so hot! So it took me a while to eat which was nice. However, I had to constantly stir the rice around because it burnt easily. What made me mad was the service. The service was so bad! Asked for hot water and they said they didn’t have any… Either they wanted me to buy drinks or… But anyway, one of the servers looked like he hated his job and I think the owner was hanging out looking at his phone. My friend had to get up at least 3 times to ask for water and get napkins. Horrendous. Plus side, they have the free drinks(lemonade, fruit punch) in the small cups. Overall, wouldn’t come here again.

I’ve been to the other location on convoy and it’s basically the same but less crowded. I really like tofu house for the convenience and value. — food comes out very quickly — unlimited eggs for your tofu soup — unlimited side dishes For about $ 10, this place will get you really full! This place deserves at least 4 stars!

Just ate my leftovers from last night and I wanna go back already. I think I’ve found my tofu spot! My boyfriend ordered the fisherman tofu and I got the dumpling tofu. We also ordered the chefs special hot stone to share. Everything was delicious. I loved all the sides that they serve– pickled radish, kimchi, spicy cucumbers and another one I didn’t know. Definitely coming back soon!

Prelims: located in a small parking lot, the décor is quite nice, with lots of wooden tables and chairs around the perimeter of the restaurant and the usual table and chairs in the middle of the room. The service is noticeably slow — I’m not usually a stickler for service and for me this isn’t really much of a demerit, as I care more about the food than how I’m treated, but each time I’ve come, I’ve noticed a significant gap between ordering and getting my food. Some people might find it a bit grating, so be on notice. The prices are the normal prices for tofu soup — $ 9 for the standard stuff and a lot more for anything else. The tofu soup is decent; the broth is flavorful and they have a vast array of combinations that should be able to tickle the fancy of anyone that wants to eat tofu soup(for example, they have 100000 different kinds of seafood combinations) and the flavors are generally all present. They serve purple rice, which is a welcome addition, as lots of places don’t have it. And the side dishes are pretty good. But if I had to generalize the overall flavor of this place, it would be summed in «meh». The broth tastes like it, the seafood tastes like it, but there isn’t that great depth of flavor that usually accompanies good tofu soup. The broth should have that nice seafood sense and the overall flavor of Korea spilling out the pores, but it tastes like an imitation with real ingredients, I guess? They also have very little soup in general and while it hasn’t usually caused an issue for me, it resulted in my wife having burned soup because the clay pots were so hot and there wasn’t enough liquid to compensate and the tofu ended up burned on the bottom of the pot. And no one likes burned food — the owner agreed and we ended up with a compensated meal, which turned out better than the one we got in the restaurant(outside of the burned flavor). Overall, I would say that if you’re desperate for Korean food, this place will do one of two things: it will either just satisfy your cravings, or make you wish even more for the real deal. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. Like the rating, it’s A-OK. TL;DR A-OK tofu soup.

The food here is good. But I have Came here multiple times with friends/family and each time I come here the service gets worse and worse! The guy that waited on us was very rude and basically ignored us the whole time. We ended up having to get more napkins ourselves(pretty bad). Had to ask a couple of times for more condiments as well. Wasn’t even busy.

Delish! I don’t trust a single bad review about TH. I think people get super riotous and snobby. The food is and has always been amazing. Sometimes you have to wait, oh yeah in the adult world it’s called patience. Today I had to wait for napkins I survived. I got the bulgogi hot pot so good. I like the cucumber & radish kimchi.

Came here on a whim, its on the way home and I’ve always wanted to try it. It was pretty dead for a monday night around 6pm. There were only a handful other tables and the place is actually pretty spacious. There is a parking lot for your convenience and extremely easy to park. I ordered the bulgogi hot stone pot. It was great! I like how they have the eggs on the side for you to crack and to however many at your discretion. Our server was decent, always refilling our water. I found it interesting they distribute the check as soon as you get your food, what if you want to order more? But it didn’t bother me that much. I decided on the brown rice instead of white rice. It looked purple more than brown and tasted like white rice, is it just coloring? Anyways… I’m surprised the place wasn’t as busy as I feel it should be. Can’t wait to try the tofu soup the next time I stop in!

I’m sorry but no… The blandest tofu soup I had in my life. My parents went there, too, and they were disappointed as well. Word for word, my mother said«I can make better tofu soup with my feet.» I wouldn’t have went here if I wasn’t so hungover. There is another place that was much better in the neighborhood. Even the galbi was whatever. Their soup greatly lacks depth in flavor. And the color of the soup does not seem so appetizing. Nothing close to anything in Kearny Mesa.

Love how this location is closer to home. I’ve been to the original Tofu house in Clairemont and liked it even more there. Why? Although the food is the same and always great, the service at Clairemont is better. Servers here are slower and most of time, the servers never check up on us or even replenish our drinks. Their water cups are so small, you would think they’d walk around with a water jug and refill our empty cups, but nope! You really have to search and bug your server! I liked how they have combo specials which come with two entrees. You pretty much get your money’s worth when you order a combo. They also come with unlimited banchan(side dishes)– kimchi, pickled cucumbers, daikon, fish cake. I would definitely come back again. Hopefully, the service would be better next time :)

Yum! Yum! Yum! This place rocks for a quick lunch break with coworkers. We shared the spicy pork, bugolgi, spicy chicken and ribs. Everything was crazy good and on point! The service was quick and friendly. I definitely want to come back for their hot pots since I get are so highly recommended. They also serve happy drinks all day. Cheap beer and sake! My kind of place!

The food is a-ok. I’ve had better Tofu hot pot in LA and on Convoy street but I’m happy that there is one here in Mira Mesa. The service was okay but I was really kind of bothered at the fact that the server kept bumping into my purse as she walked by even though there was a huge space behind me– it was kind of annoying that she kept doing that while I was eating. I think that the way the rice is here is very interesting because usually the rice is in a stone bowl– here, they give you rice in a regular bowl. However, I can’t complain! For $ 9(+tax) I can get some tofu hot pot and some Korean side dishes. My husband, who is Korean and grew up in K-town, likes this place so I guess it’s a good place to have legit Korean food. Parking is limited but we managed to find parking.

I thought the meal was overall okay :-) I just wish you guys put in more meat in my bulgogi bowl and a little more flavor. I constantly had to eat it with kimchi to enhance the flavor for me, but it wasn’t too much of a problem I guess. I’m pretty satisfied with how long it took my meal because it surprisingly came out 15 minutes after ordering and it was pretty fresh. The server was pretty nice, but I wish he checked on our table a little more often. Other than that, things went pretty well and my friend and I enjoyed our meal here after a long day!

I’m really happy that they opened one here since it’s closer to home. There’s also plenty of parking since it doesn’t really have to share a lot with a bunch of other businesses other than one small stand. I usually get the A2 special, which is seafood boiled tofu with galbi($ 17). I was honestly a little disappointed with the galbi, compared to the one in convoy. When I got it here, I could see that half the plate was bone and the other half was the actual meat. Usually there would be good, big chunks of meat on the plate, with the bone like on the side of the piece or something. Here, it was like the piece of bone in the middle and half an inch of meat surrounding it. So basically, there wasn’t as much meat around the bone. I ended up having to nibble the meat from the bone in order to get as much meat as I could, not because it was stuck to the bone, but because I wanted to get my money’s worth of meat. Even then, half of the«meat» is fat. We also noticed that the utensils were pretty cloudy when they should be shiny when clean. Also, be careful with the plates. They don’t really warn you, but they’re really hot when you get them. My brother burned himself on the stone pot multiple times and had to keep using his ice water on his burns. Other than that, everything else is fine, and was the same as the one in Convoy. All the items are super hot when it gets to your table, free fruit punch and lemonade in the back(and also cucumber lemon water, which I didn’t see at convoy), and complimentary banchan. We came in before the dinner rush so we didn’t really have any problems with slow service. However, because of the meat to bone ratio on my galbi, I would still prefer to go to the Tofu House in Convoy.

I ordered the Combo tofu stew which consists of small bits of beef, pork, shrimp, and oyster. The stew is pretty rich in flavor, choice of white or purple rice, and you can choose how spicy you want the stew to be. You also can drop couple raw eggs inside the stew to cook at the beginning. It costs about $ 9 which isn’t too bad and it’s pretty filling. Their side dishes though could use some work. They slice the fish cakes way too thinly. I’m accustomed to a ton of variety of side dishes served to our table. Not bad option for Korean food in the Mira Mesa area. It looks to be owned by the same people that have one on Convoy. Their AC is on high blast which is very appreciated during the hot summer.

I was absolutely disappointed in my second trip here. I brought my roommate here because he was craving tofu soup. We walked in and were seated right away. I was telling my roommate that the reviews on Unilocal weren’t that great but that I had come here once before and didn’t think there was any reason to not come here. As I was telling him this, we noticed that the table we were sitting at was still dirty and stains on the table so we asked a waiter if he could clean it up. He didn’t even say anything to us, looked at the spot we were pointing to, grabbed the napkin from the next table, and just wiped it carelessly, almost like just a brush over. It was ridiculously obvious how little he cared. If I knew that’s what their definition of cleaning was, I could have 1) done it myself or 2) just avoided this place completely. My roommate said to me, «Now I get the Unilocal reviews.» The rest of the dinner was fine. The food was fine except I felt like there wasn’t that much soup in it(almost only half way of the stone pot). There was another girl who was working there that was very nice and kept giving us the side dishes when we asked with a happy attitude. It’s just shocking to me how different this location is compared to the one located in Convoy. I definitely don’t think I’ll be coming back here especially knowing that there are other tofu places nearby.

This location is very similar to the one on Convoy near Tapioca Express, owned by the same people. This is not to be confused with the«Convoy Tofu House» further south, which is heaps better, but I digress. Boasting the same menu, a couple of us settled for the«Tasty» soft tofu soup, which was served piping hot in stone pot and included a side of white or Korean-style brown rice. This included some seafood and beef, although the soft tofu was all broken up into tiny oblong pieces. The soup was very bland despite the medium spicy spice level, while the side dishes(banchan) were limited and only a small amount given each time. No idea why the service was poor, where we had to ask multiple times for something. Perhaps it was because we had a party of 6 people, so there was mandatory gratuity included on the final bill and they just didn’t care? Or maybe the staff aren’t trained to handle having more than half the tables filled with customers. No idea, I share the same sentiment I had with their Convoy location. Do yourself a favor and head to Tofu Ka for a more hearty soodubu jjigae, generous sides, AND happy hour yogurt soju.
