The food here is so amazing! I got the chicken fried steak and eggs and it was the best I’ve ever had! I sampled the chicken n waffles and it was to die for as well!

I ordered a breakfast dish and it was disgusting. I think they use fake eggs. The food had a funny smell and the restaurant was dingy. I’m giving it 3 stars because the staff was so friendly.

This place was a great stop for brunch! Bottomless mimosas for $ 15!!! You can’t bet that! The location is great, right by the water! This place is a great first stop before you go bar hopping! I was with a big group and everyone’s order looked so yummy! I got the plain jane and it filled me up! Can’t wait to come back to try more food on their menu! Great vibes and sevice:)

I had the Coconut Crusted American Toast and my husband had the Chicken Fried Steak. My food was good but not up to expectation from description on menu. Husbands steak was a little tough and gravy had no flavor. Breakfast was $ 31, pretty pricey.

Any place that serves up a big plate full of food thats good tasting and good for you gets kudos from me. TS does just that with the power plate they offer for $ 15. Service is good, venue is cool, location is prime, staff are kind and quick. Prices are solid and coffee strong. I can become a regular at this kind of place… in fact I think I will! If only they were open later in the day too!

A lot bigger inside then I expected. The staff is very friendly. $ 15 bottomless mimosas– however it’s pre made so if you don’t like much oj in your champagne you need to ask. The bacon came with some sugary BBC sauce on it. I wasn’t a fan and probably should come with a «warning label.» French toast was pretty good. The canon crnch is suppose to be excellent but too many breakfasts intermingling long for me so I kept it simple. Overall great spot with lots of cool décor. Alyssa, our server, was very nice but she’s a Patriots fan so, you know… Go Broncos!

I took my girlfriend out to breakfast so we could catch up and wanted something really close to home. Truckstop is really close and I had only been here once before. The place was kind of busy and we did have to wait to get a table. We sat at a table and I was immediately not comfortable, they had ceiling fans that were turned on in the restaurant, but the lighting in the ceiling was behind the fan, creating a strobe light effect, that really bugged me. I didn’t know I was light sensitive till today. The waitress was really nice and when she came by to take our drink order I asked if she could turn off the fan, and her response was«Oh is it because of the light?», I guess I’m not the first person to complain about this. She did try to turn it off, but that only made the fan go faster. She apologetic and said she could probably find someone that could turn the fan off, but that never happened. To her credit she did look incredibly busy. I ordered the short rib skillet, my friend had the Hub Caps(very large pancakes) and we each had regular coffee. $ 3 for a latte or something special, I totally understand, but $ 3 for each cup of coffee I find a bit on the pricey side. My short rib skillet tasted ok, but it was swimming in oil. The rosemary smelled great, the ribs had some fat, but were pretty good, but the amount of oil in the dish nearly put me in a coma. My friends pancakes were good, they were pancakes, nothing really special but the very large size. I think it was expensive for what we got. My skillet could use with less oil, I think this is my last visit here.

I was able to finally get in touch with a manager about two hours after I received the bad food. When I called back I asked to speak with a manager and was told to «hold on.» After several minutes the same person came back and said«hello.» I again asked for a manager, and was told that person is the manager — not sure why they couldn’t say that first before asking me to hold, but I was told there was an «emergency» they had to deal with — oh, you mean an emergency like serving people raw pork? I got more attitude from the manager, who eventually agreed to remove the charge from my credit card. I asked what they intended to do about the fact that I had to drive to the restaurant and back, twice(the restaurant is maybe 4 – 5 miles from my house, but do that four times and still have no food and they still have you money, let me know how you feel). I get it, maybe it’s like $ 5 in gas, but why should I have to pay the extra money as a result of their(multiple) mistakes? Also, it took several hours out of my morning to deal with all this nonsense. I was told they would check with the owner and get back to me, which never happened — BIG surprise… I received a second call later that day apologizing for the attitude I received from both the bartender and the manager. Too little, too late.

Great food, great service, great place to come with friends. My girlfriends and I came for breakfast. We were immediately pleased to find out they have bottomless mimosas. Tony greeted us at our table with complimentary donut holes, which were absolutely amazing. We all ordered the simple breakfast which included eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and another order of the donut holes. Additionally, the mimosas didn’t stop for 2 hours! The food, service, and overall experience was great.

We visited Truckstop twice during our 4 day visit to San Diego and loved every meal! We were visiting with a dog and so their dog friendly patio was the immediate draw to us, however, once we sat down and enjoyed ourselves we knew that we would be back… with and without Freckles! :) The first time we ate at Truckstop was a Saturday morning, we were able to sit down outside immediately, but we did have to wait about 15 – 20 minutes before we were able to order drinks. This didn’t worry our party at all though, we were enjoying the gorgeous sea breeze, cool air and great conversation! The three of us ordered the Chicken & Waffles, Veggie Benedict, and the Country Fried Steak & Eggs… unfortunately for the staff, we all had random additions and subtractions from our dishes(for example, instead of the rosemary potatoes, I wanted to go for their vanilla yogurt & fruit), but they didn’t bat an eye, no worries at all! :) Yeah, thank you! Just as an fyi, the Chicken & Waffles was HUGE, the Veggie Benedict was amazing but don’t be scared by a citrus hollandaise sauce, went perfectly with the dish, and they charge additional money for extra gravy. Not a crumb was left on any of our plates, so I guess that tells you something about our feelings! The second time we came(on a Tuesday morning), we were able to sit down on their patio and order pretty much immediately! I got the Hippie Hash, once again with yogurt & fruit, while the boyfriend ordered«The Supreme» as an omelette. Fantastic, once again! The toast that came with the Hippie Hash, I could have eaten an entire loaf — what was that? Yum! This time they also came out with a bowl of water for Freckles, such a nice and extra addition! :) We’re coming back to SD in a month, without Freckles, and I know that we’ll be eating brunch here again! I can’t wait!

I don’t drive a truck, am not into trucks, or have visited a real truck stop, which did not stop me from checking this place out(mostly for my boyfriend wanting waffles). They serve(sub-par) coffee in a carafe. Their waffle called Mud Flaps was massive and decent(loved the crunchy edges), but you get no topping unless you pay extra.(bleh) I got a veggie Benedict, which was unexpectedly delicious with crunchy asparagus and lemony hollandaise sauce. The rosemary potatoes could have been crunchier. The service was friendly. I would have liked to see more vegetarian and/or unique items on the menu!

First time here and was meeting friends for lunch. The short is it’s just okay. Nothing special which is unfortunate given the proximity to the water and the view. Sort of a waste. But if you just want to have drinks with a good view and average food, maybe you should check this place out. Okay, now the long… First it’s in PB. If you live in PB it’s okay, but getting in and out of PB is really a pain. This restaurant is located in a small strip mall and parking is not cheap nor is it abundant. The upside is the restaurant does validate I think for two hours. The bad news the parking spaces in the underground parking are only big enough for a Prius and nothing else. The restaurant is right on the boardwalk with a nice view of the beach and water. There is a long bar with several booths and tables. Strangely enough on one of the hottest days of the summer, they have most of the doors open. My friends tempted me to this place by saying they have air conditioning. Well, they do have AC but with all the doors and many of the windows open, just didn’t make sense. Our server was very pleasant and immediately took our drink order. We were all just trying to keep it cool and I had my usual iced tea. Bummmer… they serve instant instead of fresh brewed. I had never been here and really didn’t know what they served, but I hadn’t seen my friends in a long time so I we were trying to catch up, but our server seemed very insistent that we order. We were engrossed in conversation and yet she kept coming back asking if we were ready to order. I get it if the place is crowded and people are waiting for tables, but the place wasn’t even half full. So, to keep our server content we browsed the menu so we could order before she came back again. They have a breakfast and lunch menu and seeing as it was later in the afternoon, I went with the lunch. They have quite a few burgers, but it was the«Turkey Club» that caught my attention. A club sandwich is my absolute favorite and I’m always looking for the new best club sandwich. It comes on squaw bread but I like the traditional and asked if they could do it on white and she told me no problem. She told me the sides and I was trying to keep it clean so I ordered the side salad. It wasn’t long before our food arrived and everyone’s meal looked wonderful. However, the first thing I noticed was I have fries instead of a salad. I really didn’t feel like mentioning it and went with the fries. The sandwich is advertised as turkey, bacon, avocado, pepperjack, lettuce and tomato. For starters, it was cut in half like a regular sandwich. A traditional club sandwich is cut in quarters. Also, a traditional club is a triple decker sandwich and this had only two slices of bread. And if there was bacon, they must have been using bacon bits. I don’t even think there was the pepperjack cheese. Basically it was a turkey sandwich on toasted bread. It wasn’t bad but when you have your mind set on a club sandwich this is quite a disappointment. During the meal my friends pointed out that I had ordered a salad instead of fries. The server remembered and was extremely apologetic and offered to get me the salad and I just declined. They serve a type of cross cut fries that were okay. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals. Overall, it was a nice place but with average food. I think if they didn’t have the view they do it might not be as popular. It’s unfortunate they can’t even make someone as traditional as a club sandwich even when they advertise it on their menu as a club sandwich. And I really don’t know how hard it is to bring the sides that were ordered. But I will say our server was very nice and she credited the bill for the sandwich since she brought out the wrong side. I really didn’t expect that and that was very nice. Too many options for food in PB so not sure I would go back to this one. Again, great view but there are many places along the water with the same view.

This place has potential, but fell a bit short for me. When I walked in my first impression was positive, I like that the décor isn’t the standard PB divey beach vibe. Their menu also seemed to be promising, offering a twist on a variety of breakfast and lunch classics. It was nice to see some different takes on a few classics such as cereal themed French toasts, Benedicts with non-traditional meats and hollandaise variations as well as scrambles with a southwestern flare. Unfortunately for me some of the food just didn’t live up to to the description on the menu. I ordered the short ribs Benedict with sriracha hollandaise. The short ribs were far too fatty for my taste and I could barely taste a hint of sriracha in the sauce. The meal came with rosemary potatoes, which wee well seasoned but totally hit or miss based on the size. There were huge chunks that were undercooked mixed in with delightfully crunchy smaller pieces. These would be a standout for me if they could deliver a more consistent size. Speaking of things that could improve my experience, it seems that they could also benefit from hiring a few more servers. The ones that were there when I was eating seemed to be constantly running around and unable to pay too much attention to their tables. It doesn’t really make for a great dining experience. Fortunately, I also had a chance to try the cinnamon donut holes and the Captain Crunch French toast. I enjoyed both far more than my breakfast so I’d recommend either. Another plus for me was the variety of bloody marys and mules on the drink menu. I tried the raging bull Bloody Mary complete with a cube of cheddar cheese and piece of bacon. I would recommend it if you like a bloody with some kick!

After sampling some their food about a year ago at the PB restaurant walk, I finally made an appearance here. On a Saturday morning at 11, the wait was about 15 minutes. The berry and nutella american toast caught my eye immediately, so that was my selection. I was somewhat expecting it to be smothered in nutella, but it was only a drizzle. I just added a little maple syrup, which helped. I liked that the blueberries and strawberries were fresh and not in a purée. The toast was light and fluffy, just right. Slight downgrade due to the scrambled eggs and bacon that were luke warm when they arrived. The maple bacon was very tasty regardless of the temperature. A solid option if you don’t feel like waiting in much longer lines at some of the other popular PB breakfast options.

Date of visit: 5÷17÷2015 It’s becoming more and more apparent that Truckstop is becoming more and more popular. We decided to stop by on Sunday with a party of 7 and the first question out of the hostess’ mouth was, «Do you have a reservation?» Of course, Cam and I are used to just walking in, but next time there’s a large group, we’ll have to remember to call ahead. That being said, we were seated immediately and the hostess let us know that service might be a little slow due to the other two large groups in the vicinity. I was ready to battle with a grumpy waitress, but she ended up being extremely friendly and efficient at serving all 3 large group tables. Although it did take a while for our food to come out, we were able to enjoy the doughnut holes early on and the coffee came out immediately(very important). The food held its same standard of quality. I’m pretty much a human of repetition, so I had the Cali Eggs Benedict again. Cam ordered the yogurt bowl and I was glad to see that his fruits in that dish were fresh and the granola was tasty. I also wanted to upload a couple more pictures, so I hope those are helpful as well. I still definitely recommend Truckstop, but time your visit carefully if you’re coming with a large group.

Unique twist on classic American breakfast. I had a great experience when coming in for an early morning breakfast on a Sunday. My boyfriend and I got seated right away and our server, Amanda, greeted us right away. I got the city slicker which was a scramble with turkey sausage, egg whites, goat cheese and peppers. I got toast and fruit on the side. My boyfriend got the tri-tip benedict. We also got an order of the donut holes to share and they were incredible. Our food came out very quickly and we both finished our entire meals because they were so tasty. The service was awesome and we will definitely be requesting Amanda again. The manager even came to check on us to make sure everything was good which I really appreciated. 4 stars instead of 5 because I would love to see this place offer more than just breakfast food. I know they offer some lunch options but the choices are limited. I did hear that they might be adding dinner which would be a good choice in my opinion. Will be back for sure!

This place is quite superb ! It’s a brunch-type restaurant so come hungry to complete 2/3rds of your required meals you have each day ! When you walk-in if it isn’t busy they require you to seat yourself so my boyfriend and I went towards to back of the restaurant to a corner which had a window shining brightly through it. Parking here although sucks because you do have to pay for parking if you park in the underground parking structure. I thought there is validation and our waitress gave us a pre-stamped validation ticket BUT only to find out that it is invalid when you try to exit so i had to end up dishing 8 bucks out of my pocket for parking boo! Ambience: This place is pretty casual. Alot of booths and tables to sit at. Very clean and a more hippie feel to me depending where I sat. They do have a patio where you can eat outside by the ocean or in their open bar. FOOD: Country fried steak: absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered this and finished the entire plate. He got the country fried steak along with their gravy, eggs, and hash browns. Everything compliments each other and it was a big enough portion to satisfy anyone’s needs. Mudflap waffle: we didn’t even get to finish all of it because there was just so much food! My boyfriend and I decided to share this amongst us but we were almost too full to consume it all so we took it to-go. But really light and fluffy. Although i prefer Belgian waffles over these homestyle type waffles. But it was a good enough portion for one person. Fruity Pebbles American toast: ABSOLUTELYAWESOME. I was actually referred by a friend who got this previously and I just HAD to try it myself. 5⁄5 stars for this dish. You are absolutely mesmerized by the colors and presentation when the server brings it out to you. And the presentation is just as good as the taste of it. Really sweet but fun to eat and super flavorful because of the fruity pebbles. Absolutely recommend to anyone ! Overall, I love everything about this restaurant. And brunch is my absolute favorite meal and I’m glad to say that truckstop has satisfied my cravings and fulfilled my tastebuds. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. And i will be back on Sunday brunch for their bottomless mimosas ! Superb job Truckstop !
