Great option if you are in this area, healthy and good food, very friendly service makes you going for more of 8 years

It’s a splurge but worth it. You’ll experience superior service and attentive service. Vega Café employs a team approach so after the senior server took our order, the sommelier handled the wine and our main attendant was a young Frenchman who might have been in training. No matter because he was perfect.

Fast friendly service. The local constabulary eat here(must be good)! Portions are large and everything is hand made.

I work in this area, and as a vegetarian my lunch options are SORELY limited. Enter Vega Ca(f)fé! They’re accommodating with my occasional off-menu requests(and always really generous about making my meal a combo of sorts to save me a couple bucks), their veggie torta and veggie wraps are legitimately delicious, and I’m a big fan of the jugo verde(green juice). Fruit salads are made Mexican-style, with cottage cheese and granola and honey, but you can ask for just fruit and it’s consistently sweet and fresh. The salads are a little weird, so I just request whatever specific vegetables I’d like included and hold the dressing(very Italian-out-of-a-bottle that does nothing for me). It can definitely get crowded around the noon hour, but the service remains pretty efficient. Most of the staff is English-speaking or at least English-understanding, which I find helpful. Definitely the best choice in the local area for a person who is trying to eat a bit more fresh and veg-oriented.

No complaints! I love their food and smoothies! Must try! Fruit salad, sandwiches, salads, smoothies… all of the above is fantastic. Gets busy at lunch time so go a little early or a little later. Downfall is they close early!

I gave up on this place a few years ago because the sauces used to flavor the sandwiches and salads was bitter and sour. Then today I thought I would get a coffee because I was desperate for a recharge .I ordered an Americano. I received a molten hot cup of black liquid which tasted burnt throughout. Zero Barista training and zero knowledge of coffee. If they made pizza it would have chili powder on it ! It’s just that bad.

i work down the street from here so i decided to give this place a try. I would suggest ordering before you get here otherwise waiting for your food will take up all your lunch time and i have an hour lunch. I ordered the lasagna that comes with the salad which i choose Cesar salad and a bread with butter on the side all for $ 6 and some change almost $ 7.00. Anyways the salad was alright. the Caesar dressing was not good at all though and whats a salad without dressing? well i personally don’t like to just eat dry salad. It did have cheese and croutons. The lasagna was not good at all. I do not recommend. it tastes like it came right out of the microwave. Or like a frozen lasagna. i regret spending $ 7.00 on that. Filippies obviously has the best lasagna ever ! hands down… at least from a restaurant that Ive ate cause there’s no food like homes ;) the bread they give you i didn’t even try cause i was full from the food but it looks nasty too with a little package of butter on the side. i threw it away. sorry but not buying lasagna here. i will not give up though i will try something else and after that ill decide it ever come back or not. good luck !

The roast beef and the breakfast sandwiches are very good. I haven’t eaten anything else off the menu. About the healthiest food you can get in Otay.

They have huge portions for the price. I normally go with a friend and order one torda and split it and it satisfies both of us. Their blended coffee drinks are also great. When it’s hot, I think the AC is not enough to support it but it’s pretty cool so what little AC they have is fine I think. I don’t really like their bathroom door(I don’t know what it is… it’s closes kind of heavy, I know this should be about restaurant review but it’s still part of restaurant so I think it’s ok). Oh also try their fruit salad… IT’s gianormous, we split it between like 4 people and we didn’t finish. Athough I recommond that you get it without the papaya because I don’t think theirs have much flavor(but totally up to you).

I love this place, its the best food in the area for lunch! :) This place has more healthy food too. I recommend calling your order in on your way there or before you get there because it can get busy and sometimes take a little bit to get your food. They also deliver for free. Check there website for coupons and daily specials. I have tried almost everything on there special menu and not once have i been disappointed yet. Just recently I had there tortilla soup and it was pretty good! And the chicken sandwich, it was so healthy but very tasty! Large portions! I had my first ever tortas here as well! It was a lot of food. If you work in the area, this is a must try!

The décor is generic restaurant, chairs and tables spaced out relatively well with two small tvs in the restaurant. The radio plays hispanic music as well as the occasional club banger in English, but is usually background to whatever company you are there with. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice, the food comes out quick. Generally when I go here I get tortas since well… They’re just stupidly tasty. If it’s a price comparison, it costs the same as subway, has more substance to it, and it tastes better without you having to add on a dollar for some avocado since a mix of that usually comes in the tortas anyway. And the combo addition though the same price isn’t some flimsy cookie and a soda. You can get either the soup or a hefty salad that covers half of a plate. Me, myself, and I would suggest the spinach salad but I absolutely adore spinach so perhaps that’s not for you. There is also a basic cobb salad and a ceasar salad for the combo. The choices for soup depends on the soup of the day being the other option aside from tortilla soup. I usually stick to some type of vegetable soup but not because I have a dislike for tortilla soup but I have to um… watch my girlish figure *cough cough* Also if you do get a torta(options being turkey, beef, pork, pierna, loma, carne asada, cubana and a couple others that I can’t remember for the life of me) use the red sauce and lots of it. Tomato based, nice little kick, I want to buy buckets of it so I can eat sandwiches from other places and pour gobs of it in their place of business. This way I can spread my love of it to other people xD

In the nitty gritty just north of the border, there are lots of choices when it comes to fast, greasy food. There are also few restaurants that provide a healthier option with a tasty menu in a land where industry reigns. Vega Café is a good place to go on those days where you want to hold off on the grease. It’s not too expensive, and it has a lot of good vegetarian and healthy comfort food favorites like chicken salad sandwiches, smoothies, and fruits and salads. It’s in the middle of no where, like most places I review in the area, so you probably wouldn’t want to go here unless you work in Otay Mesa, or off the 905 and Siempra Viva. Good food, pretty girls.
