Ok let me start with my thoughts about not writing a review about this place, for the main reason of selfishness. I thought it would not be fair for this establishment if my main motive is to have my own quiet, not so crowded, great environment to hang out in. This place deserves recognition and I would not be surprise if they start to pack it in with great people. 1) Sangria — You must order their white sangria. Never had anything like it, but OMG it was delicious. Make sure to get the carafe. Chunks of fruit on the bottom especially with lychee, it’s just so refreshing!!! 2) Shrimp — I don’t remember the name but it was amazing with that sauce. If I was at home, I would have licked the plate. 3) Pricing — Reasonable. you can order 3 to 4 tapas with a carafe of Sangria for less than $ 100. 4) Ambience — I don’t suggest you take your clients or business colleagues. This place is more of an intimate atmosphere. 5) Wine — Next time I come back, I need to try a drink off their wine list. After all, it’s a wine bar. This place is the real deal and I highly recommend it. Great place to take someone special just to hang out!

Really impressed by Wet Stone. Small place that you can easily walk by and miss… and that would really be missing something. Was greeted right away and seated near the window. Weather was fantastic and the window was open, allowing a nice breeze in. Building is set back just a bit from the street but still provides a nice view being so high up. Not a lot of seating, but I could imagine 25 or so people eating here at the same time. Has a small, cozy café feel. My goal is always to look for items I haven’t seen or tried before. Choripan — the chef’s «tribute to the argentine street sangwicho» — was the selection this time. I have never seen lamb chorizo before, so the choice was obvious! Aioli and chimichurri was spicy as indicated, but not so much as to dominate the chorizo. Side salad was well put together and not just a random wedge of iceberg. Many other intriguing items on the menu will keep me coming back. Service was excellent. Iced tea had fresh mint sprig in it. Soothing Latin music playing in the background… really, really like this place! Only work a few blocks away and will definitely be back

PLEASANTLYSURPRISED! This adorable wine bar is much more than just great wine… The food is awesome. Happy hour boats a quesadilla that you’ll never forget. It’s not your normal quesadilla. The flatbreads are truly something. When you see the ingredients on the description, you’re literally getting those fresh ingredients en masse on a delicious pizza-like dough. It’s so fresh and very filling! Great for sharing! Delicious mango chicken salad is light and refreshing. But BYFAR the agua Fresca blew me away… strawberry lychee was the flavor and I’m already missing the delectable flavors. Great atmosphere — definitely a hidden gem. I’ll be back!

Y.U.M.M.Y! Everything… All of it! What a gem in San Diego. Make a reservation for dinner or pop in for lunch. I love food and I love to cook! I’m seriously considering moving into this place(if it was an option). Wines are so tasty and don’t forget about the white sangria for a more fruity option.

Excellent service with an intimate atmosphere. The wine list is excellent and food, stellar! The owner is hands on with every aspect of this business and it shows. From the engagement of the staff to the quality and consistency of the menu you will be hard pressed to find a better place to spend your evenings. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I have had in San Diego. These guys do it right in every way!

Came here after nor having visited in a couple of years looking for the Mac and cheese with serrano ham and chorizo in it. Amazed that they had it on the menu, I was sadly surprised to find it did not live up to my previous time ordering it. It was alright, but VERY soupy, and ended up being too loose of a cheese sauce for my taste. I miss the thick and cheesy sauce they had before that had thick strings of cheese coming off… Anyway, I would come back, but would avoid the mac and cheese sadly. Their sangria was ok, and some of the appetizers were quite nice.

I used to LOVE this place. But I went back a few nights ago and found the food quality had dropped significantly. I had the beet salad, lamb meatballs, and five spice pork. The beet salad was okay, but the lamb meatballs were raw inside. In contrast, the pork was hard and overdone. I can’t believe how far downhill the food has gone. The ambience and wine selections were still good– I still like it as a wine bar, but I’d choose to eat dinner somewhere else beforehand.

I always forget about this little jewel of a place. It is only blocks from my house and I don’t frequent it enough. It’s cute, cozy and an awesome place for a girls night or a date. The appetizers are always spot on too.

I am so torn by this place and the experience I had there. On one hand, it was so cute in there. The tables were simply decorated with candles and the walls had fun paintings. Light French music played in the background. And of course there were stones. The food was good and the presentation is on point. We had the avocado bruschetta and the chicken and chorizo flatbread. We finished them both REAL quick! The wine came in these oversized glasses. The malbec on happy hour was very good! Only $ 5 per glass! I also got a complementary Agua Fresca which was so BOMB! Its like the water version of a sangria: fruit flavored water. The service was quick, and our server was always attentive throughout the evening. But she wasn’t very nice. When I showed her the Unilocal complementary glass, she walked away before I could finish my sentence, and she didn’t acknowledge my presence. There were many moments like this throughout the evening. And to top it all off there was an extra change for a glass of wine we never ordered or received. So although the food and drinks were good, that was only half of the experience. I have to give it three-stars based on service.

Very cute, intimate, and urban wine bar. Came in for lunch today and the food was very good. I had the chicken salad sandwich on whole grain bread. I’d love to come back after hours for wine drinking with friends!

EXCELLENT! SOGOOD. Loved it! 1. wine.= Yum. 2. Food,=mostly good,(the pork belly app was so good). 3. Staff was great. Really cute place, tons of ambiance and we sat at the window and it rained. The windows open abs it was Warm inside and we had a great rain storm outside. They get extra points for a fun southern California rain storm on demand.

Wow definitely 5 stars! Amazing food — we had the caprese salad and the quasadilla as well as mashed garbanzo + avocado for appetizers and the churrasco for main. We were especially impressed with wine, namely the sparkling — it was a malbec and it was really YUMMY ! They had very interesting wine selections –rather unique offerings– in my opinion. The décor was great and the staff were amazing. I definitely recommend this place. And next time I come I am gonna have the tuna tartar –I caught a glimpse of it and it looked like edible art

I was here on a Wednesday night for their happy hour. The place was a little empty since it is kind of hidden and it was the middle of the week. They do have a great happy hour that goes until 7 pm during the week and Sundays I believe it’s all day. The place also also has a very intimate feel to it. I’ve heard so much hype about their sangria that I had to try one. I tried their white sangria and it was really good. It was very refreshing, it tasted a bit like peach and I was very happy that it wasn’t incredibly sweet. It was just right. I also tried the red wine they had on happy hour, which was a Malbec. It was too dry for my taste and I did not like it. Luckily, our server let me try a little bit before actually pouring me a glass. I tried a couple of other red wines such as the Pinot Noir and a carmenere. He also let us try the Cabernet Franc, which was in their off menu list. I really enjoyed the Cab Franc and ended up getting a full glass. They also do «half» glasses in case you want to try different wines. For our appetizer we ordered the bruschetta. It was delicious and very well seasoned. We also ordered the mac n cheese, prosciutto flat bread, and seared ahi salad. The flat bread was tasty and the mac and cheese and salad were okay, I would probably not order them again. Overall I thought this was a pretty good place and will definitely be going back to try some of their other wines and other items on the menu. I also have to say our server was great, very helpful and accommodating, although I do not remember his name =(

Ummmmm… Delicious. Stopped in for takeout on my lunch break. Ordered the curry tuna sandwich on multigrain with side green salad(included). Perfect portion size and great flavors. Ice tea was also very refreshing. Really cool vibe inside as well. Can’t wait to come back during non-work hours to try the white sangria… Oh, and more of the menu of course :)

I wanted to like this place but it just fell short. I am a lover of sangria and flavor and it simply didn’t deliver. Perhaps I was expecting perfection since it is so highly rated by Unilocalers. I do not hate it but I don’t love and I would certainly not drive out of my way to eat to at this place again.

Outstanding! There is love for the food here. Portions are not huge, instead you pay for quality. Prices are reasonable — very reasonable considering the quality! We ate here two nights in a row, and I plan to make it a destination whenever we are in SD.

I’ve been meaning to try this establishment for quite some time now and I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Christian Gomez, soul Proprietor & Chef, is a respected colleague of mine and he’s created an absolute masterpiece from top to bottom. Let’s start with the food; The Pork Belly is DEVINE and I recommend trying it immediately. The Chicken & Chorizo flatbread was also delicious and I was throughly impressed. With a wide variety of wines and local craft brews, guaranteed to keep your pallet intrigued, you simply can’t go wrong. The location itself is quaint, but the atmosphere is welcoming, with comfortable seating and an incredible vibe. It comes highly recommended and is now a new found favorite in my own neighborhood. Thanks Christian, I’ll be seeing you again soon!

I am sad the to be the Negative Nancy here but I found this place to be really underwhelming. I arrived before 6 on a Friday to meet a friend and was restricted to sit at the communal-like tables with bar stools because the few standard tables had«reserved» signs on them. The bar stools were really uncomfortable to sit on as well. The service was just OK, waitress didn’t seem too pumped to be there. Sangria was also just OK; a lot of mysterious bits of twigs getting stuck in the straw. My friend and I ordered some happy hour appetizers and I was looking forward to tasting what the kitchen had to offer. We found our hummus to be extremely bland and the other two appetizers turned out to be tuna and chicken salad on three tiny pieces of toast; nothing I would ever order again or pay full price for. I wouldn’t be interested in trying out any of their main entrees based on what I’ve tasted. The best thing I had here was a glass of Argentinean Malbec, so I would only come here for a couple glasses of wine, if there were more comfortable seating. The Latin tapas wine bar vibe I was expecting was not found here. Not sure why everyone else is raving.

Cute little place to grab a drink. We went after work on a Thursday and easily found a table. The whole place was run by just one person, so often times we had to flag him down for our needs, but it was not a big deal since the place is so small. The food/wine did not blow our minds, and it ended up being $ 50/person for a few glasses of wine and a few shared plates, so price point, I thought it was a bit pricy for what we received. 3.5 star experience, but rounding up to 4 stars as we should be supporting our local small businesses!

A special gem in Banker’s Hill. It’s super cozy and relaxing to hang out over a glass of wine. $ 5 wine selections and $ 6 food selections for Happy Hour. You can’t go wrong! This definitely isn’t a place for large groups. It’s perfect for a group of up to four or five, I’d say!

What an amazing, intimate and delicious place this is. I came here a few months ago but only had wine and tonight I had some of the most delicious bites! It’s a very quaint and quiet type of place, perfect for a date or catching up with a friend. I tend to go to more up beat places with a louder atmosphere on a Saturday night and this was very refreshing tonight as we’d had a long busy day and really just wanted to relax with a nice glass of wine and this place hit the spot. I was actually blown away by the food, it was delicious. We had the tomato bruschetta that comes in a delicious sauce with mushrooms and served with mini toasts. Next we had a very interesting avocado mash crostini that was made of garbanzo beans that tasted even better than how it was described on the menu. After having these 2 great bites that we chosen we asked Christian our server and the chef what he recommended and I’m so glad we took his advice as the ahi tuna was to die for. I always love ahi tuna but this came mixed with avocado, onions and basil in a cabbage leaf. One of my favorite things about this dish was the bread it came with, Christian explained it was a pressed piece of bread that was made on a panini maker, it was something I’d never had or seen before. They also have a nice selection of wine and beer and they have a great happy hour menu which actually was one of the things that brought us in tonight, not many people offer HH on a weekend night. The $ 5 wines they had on the HH were actually very good, I didn’t even feel like I was drinking a «cheaper» wine. This is a small place yet there’s plenty of seating from high table tops to regular tables to couches and the one table by the window has a few seats outside looking in which is nice. This is definitely a place you could come and just enjoy a glass of wine or have several shared plates and make a dinner plan out of it. Christian our server was very nice, informative, kept our wine filled and overall provided great service. This is a only a few blocks from my house and now I know how great the food is I’ll absolutely be back!

It’s amazing discovering things in your own backyard that you had no inkling existed. Wet Stone is one of those obscure treats in Bankers Hills, mere blocks from my ‘hood in Little Italy. After running errands on a Saturday afternoon, we were looking for a spot to rest and have a light snack before meeting friends elsewhere for dinner. In comes Wet Stone Wine Bar. The location resides in an unassuming building; I would have driven right past it(as I had multiple times for over 2 years) had I not mapped it out in advance. The space is lovely. Very homey and intimate. When we arrived there was only one other patron present. When we asked to sit at one of the rear tables, we were told that they were reserved. In fact, almost all of the tables were reserved in advance. Luckily, we were able to snag one of the tables in front. NOTE: No air conditioning is available, so I can see how the space could have the potential to be uncomfortable during a heatwave. Happy Hour was in place at our arrival, and we both decided to try both the red and white sangrias. Both were served with an abundance of fresh fruit. It was a decent sangria, but I thought it was a little light on the wine. We also decided to share the Garbonzo and Avocado appetizer. It was delicious and I enjoyed it immensely. Because we were merely present for a light snack, we didn’t order anything further, but my intrigue concerning the other bites on their menu inspires me to return! The staff were very polite and hospitable. Wet Stone definitely seems like a locals’ secret. I’m looking forward to exploring it further.

Wet Stone holds a very special place in my heart. I’ve celebrated many special occasions here: moving in with my boyfriend, my bff’s meeting my fiancé, 3 birthdays, my cousins visiting from Granada, my friends celebrating my engagement. It just seemed like the perfect place for all my favorite moments, from the very first time I walked into this place it just gives you that heart-warming feeling like you’re on vacation. My favorite drink here is the white sangria, this by far has been the best white sangria I’ve ever had. I always take a look at their special on wines and first things first of course I order food then ask for a suggestion which is always a perfect pairing. The pork belly crostini is to die for! It’s my favorite thing in the entire menu, which I have to say that everything I’ve treys has been amazing. What I love most about this wine bar is it’s unique combination of flavors and the authenticity of its ingredients. I do miss walking up the street to this lovely piece of heaven but I still go back every now and then. I love this place so much my husband threw me a surprise 30th birthday party. Thank you Christian and staff for your great service. If you’re looking for an amazing evening, a unique small bite or just want to venture off to a new place then head on over to Wet Stone Wine Bar in Bankers Hill!
