Consistently excellent. The quality of the fish is top notch, the service is friendly and relaxed. This is the only sushi place in San Diego I’ll go to. Prices can’t be beat, their drink specials enhance an already great establishment. Highly recommend!

Great place to meet up with friends. Sushi and music was great! The service was ok. Our waitress was very helpful in picking out the best sushi to try. I’m sorry I forgot her name.

Mediocre at best. The waitress sat us and didn’t come back for 5 minutes to take our drink order. It was fine, we were chatting but thirsty. Our Order: Garlic edamame: edamame covered in jarred minced garlic with absolutely nothing fresh or Wonderful about it. Shoshito Peppers: covered in a gooey, sugary brown sauce of some kind. Sticky and processed. I love shoshito peppers and make them at home. These were awful. Black Dragon Roll: it was fine, but small. It was a specialty roll. We expected more. That’s what we get for expecting. Spicy tuna roll: sushi classic. Wonderful fail. Not spicy. It was mushy but was served with 10 pieces. Soooo, thanks? Yellowtail roll: GREAT. Best roll of the meal. Fresh, simple. Seaweed salad: left our tongues green. Weird. Wasn’t fresh. No added flavor. Overall: We were hungry and needed a spot fast. $ 3 drafts helped this place. Food was not Wonderful as advertised.

Very cute spot in Hillcrest. Parking was a b*#@* on a warm Sunday evening but they have a parking lot. There are at least 3TV screens playing sports channels. There’s also a patio with a heater for cooler nights. The server was friendly. She took our order and told me about the house cocktail. I opted for it. Very sweet but they didn’t skimp on the vodka so that was a double plus. The prices were reasonable especially since there were no specials that night. Two drinks and two orders of sushi totaled less than $ 28. I’d try it again but it’s not my go-to spot yet.

A lot has changed since I last reviewed this spot… I feel like their food prices have increased while their quality has decreased. This is definitely no longer one of my favorite places to go and the last 2 times I ate here me and my husband got sick.

Amazing prices, amazing service and fresh FRESH sushi! Get a tall hot sake and a Kirin Light and try the Spicy Tuna or Spicy Crunchy Roll with a side of Eel Sauce. You won’t be disappointed ;)

We had to ask for our order to be taken. We had to ask for our drinks. We asked for the check, twice. The service was nonexistent. The food was good but that couldn’t make up for how bad the service was. They were very obviously understaffed on a Friday night. I felt bad for our waitress who was running around trying to serve everyone. She just seemed to forget our table. We won’t come back here. There are plenty of great choices for sushi in hillcrest.

We gave this place five stars the first time we went. Very fresh, very delicious. Although we thought it was a bit pricey, we were overwhelmed with how good everything was. We tried it again this past Saturday. We know, the day after Christmas. We knew it might be questionable as far as freshness is concerned. We were right. It wasn’t good. We paid $ 50, including the tip. Way too much money for lunch. I will stick with my favorite place Sushi Kuchi in Mission Valley.

I love this cozy little sushi spot. It’s like Hillcrest’s secret gem when it comes to $ 2 Sapporos and $ 10 binto boxes. They have a big TV by the sushi bar, so we’ve watched a couple games here during dinner. The staff is always super friendly and they really go the extra mile to accommodate. They even let us stay while they were closing up so we can finish watching the game. I appreciate the people here :)

This place is one of my favorites — love their delicious spicy chirashi, kalbi, bulgogi, and beer specials! But the best part is being taken care of by Bilgen, who consistently delivers exceptional service. If you get her as your server you are in for a brilliant experience. Thank you Wonderful Sushi!

Shame on wonderful sushi for not using real lobster when claiming to. The sushi served here was never good but to find that this location and the Black mountain Rd location cheat their customers, is just wrong. If it says lobster roll it should be lobster, not crawfish or pollock. The reported story is on

AKA«Not So Wonderful Sushi». Been here 2x with a friend bc she’s enamored by their $ 2 draft beer special. Doesn’t matter that it’s this side of cold & may arrive half filled with foam or just half filled. The sushi is just out right nasty. Poor quality fish, mushy rice & sloppy knife cuts. The appetizers are just as bad. The service is atrocious as in «can someone, anyone please take my order, get me another beer?» I told my friend I’ll buy the beers if she will please not subject me to this place ever again. I don’t get the 4&5 Star reviews on this place unless they’re also fans of gas station sushi.

Love the restaurant, love the staff, and the sushi is amazing! I come here at least once or twice a week. I have a problem.

It’s better then ever this year. I try all the sushi places and this is one of the very best. The sushi is simply fresher, taste better and is cut with precision. Sometimes the budget places are good for a quick bite but not all sushi is created equally or sourced from the same place. You get what you pay for, here the sushi is of a higher quality and instantly starts breaking apart in your mouth. Hint: Try the French Kiss

I’ve complained about this place in a Facebook post once or twice, but I’ve learned to really love and appreciate this place. I must admit, there was a time when I thought that the food came out a bit slow, but I now realize that good food takes time and the yummy sushi is definitely worth the wait! Wonderful Sushi has become me and my bf’s go-to spot when we can’t decide on where to eat for dinner and also when we’re craving sushi. We go there pretty much once a week! I always tend to order nigiri and find that their slices of fish are always fresh and prepared very nicely… and the fish slices are huge! @groovapooh(my bf) usually orders rolls and they’re always beautifully plated and delicious. He also loves their chirashi bowl. It comes with this incredible hot sauce that tastes good on everything! The hot sake specials are also a nice touch! I do recommend getting a little appetizer and some booze while your food is being made. Wonderful Sushi has earned itself a top spot as one of my favorite sushi restaurants. Which comes to show first impressions and glancing at someone’s 1 star«bad first experience» shouldn’t deter you from trying the place out yourself and giving it a try. I’m glad I came back a couple times and the place won me over even more and more. See you in a couple days Wonderful Sushi!

I always enjoy coming to Wonderful Sushi! While I’ve occasionally had small issues with service(wait staff being slower than I’d like to bring the check or other little details), everyone is always super friendly and the sushi is consistently good. Plus, sitting at the sushi bar you’ll sometimes get a surprise!

Neat spot for sushi. Prices and portions are fair, and the food is on par with fancier more expensive spots. The build out is pretty average, and this restaurant is part of a strip mall. I’ve never had to wait for a table here, and I’ve never seen Wonderful Sushi full up. Don’t let that fool you, it’s definitely a spot I’ll come to again for sushi.
