Poor quality sushi and poor service. I do not recommend. it is unfortunate there are no good sushi places in Carmel Valley. The service is so bad and they are so cheap with napkins and soy sauce packets. They messed up our order and they didn’t even off to correct it for free when it was take out. They said«come pick it up again and we will give it to you» without any credit or voucher or anything. The fish is old especially the tuna looks brown and the salmon smelled funny.

ATITAGAIN! they are so stingy with spicy mayo!!! It makes me so mad!!! They gave me a side the size of a penny… Oh wait a dime! And the server is so mute and has no personality. Over this place, over the service, and over the stingy amount of spicy mayo… YOUSUCK!

I loved this place, just waiting to go back. Delicious, good price! The day I went was lunch time super busy, so service wasnt great, but food made up for it!

Very conflicted as the udon and 3 rolls were very good. The service could not have been worse. 2 waitstaff for the entire restaurant. A water and a tea came 30 min after sitting and after good came. And only because I(almost) yelled as she ran by. Very frustrating. Food is worth returning — but maybe just for take out

Food was good once we could get it ordered and delivered. The sushi chef had to pour our drinks tonight. Not sure why this place was hammered on a Wednesday night. Caution if you are in a hurry.

I used to give this place 5 stars until recently and they started nickel and dining you! I loved coming here for lunch. The sushi chef would sometimes bring extras for you to try. I LOVE ponzu sauce and don’t really use soy sauce. I asked for my normal side of ponzu and I was told I would be charged. I was pissed!!! I pay $ 10 a roll and for fake crab but I can’t have a side of ponzu. There were three of us at the table and they would only offer one side of ginger and wasabi. I brought it up to the waitress who decided it was best to argue why we couldn’t have more! Won’t be back until they change their ways.

What a cool little place tucked away for Sushi! I never would have come across this place had friend not recommended it. I have gone to Zip Fushion twice and both times it was quiet with fast service, and best of all — no wait! It’s part of a shopping center in the corner, so perhaps that’s why it isn’t too busy, which is great. Some of the sushi is buy one get one free, which is great for someone who likes to get multiple rolls: me: Service was good and the ambiance is nice too — great for couples with kids since it’s not too loud or busy.

Sushi rolls are very great for the price. Service was lacking even for two tables. Asked for sauces and the female was extremely stingy. The chef was awesome and took our orders. Chuck Norris was good as well as the Ca Tempura Roll.

Usually it’s pretty quite here and the shopping center. Can find parking easily. Horrible service and the food takes a very long time to reach the table(sushi or just an entrée). Make sure you factor in at least 2−3+ hours just to eat and wait for your bill to pay.

(Came to eat here twice and order food to go probably 8 times because work was close) — The 3 Bentos that they serve here are fish, beef, and chicken and they all taste the same, all drowned in the same sweet soy sauce, no flavor what so ever.(chicken is dry and hard) — I poured the soy sauce into the little sauce bowls and later found a fly in it. It was nothing a first for I thought a fly flew or something, but then I proceeded to the 6 other bowls and realized that the bottle of soy sauce was just a pool of fly. Asking one of the waiters to give us a different bottle and explaining why, she responded back later asking us(as if blaming) «How did they get in there.» Well, I don’t know I was hoping you would tell me that. — After finishing everything that was brought out to us already and waiting for the next orders, we didn’t know how many orders we had left so we asked the waiter. «Oh don’t worry your orders are coming out.» Explaining to here if she could check, to know if there was still a lot coming or a little bit in case we wanted to order more. «Did you order from like the bar, kitchen or like whatever.» Confused because we order the food off the menu and didn’t know what she meant and frustrated because she just wouldn’t check for us, only to come out later helping us in an angry tone. — Udon the instant packaged ones that you just add water to, taste better. — Their Ramen was good, but if you’re just coming here mainly to eat ramen, I think you would want to just go to a place that is known for their good ramen. For this place is more like a sushi stop. — Volcano roll $ 12(in my opinion the best roll there) but gave only 4 slices I noticed in the pictures they set it up nicely with fire in the middle as decoration(understanding how it could then be sold that way) but mine was just placed on the dish regularly. — Fried calamari did not taste like squid, it was in the form of a fried fish stick and had a tofu texture. I would compare it to, to the frozen calamari you buy at Costco and re-battered and fried but the texture of the squid was worse. «Is this fish» — My cousin said as he ate it They gave us 5% our bill to apologize for the service … like that does anything.

I haven’t been here in a couple of weeks and was told they were under new management. They have changed their image with new menus and they’ve also added new items and named a few of the sushi rolls differently. Some of the items have increased in price by about a dollar. I ordered the salmon bento box and was surprised at how big the salmon was(serving was one and a half times the size of how it used to be). The salmon was disgusting. I don’t know how to describe it but the salmon was super soft(not in a good way) and puffy(almost soggy) in texture(almost like it was soaked in water). My friend who ordered the chicken bento said the same about the chicken. We didn’t eat our food after a couple of bites and the server was surprised that we did not take our leftovers to go. This was the sushi spot… until this experience. I don’t think we will be coming back here.

With the new ownership change they added much needed items to their menu: ramen, Japanese curry, etc. Whenever my family is craving Japanese food, we always go here. The location is very convenient, and always lots of parking!(Save the trip to the busy Convoy area.) I really recommend their sushi, especially the deluxe eel roll and especially the Sunshine roll! That is absolute favorite: the salmon the top with the ponzu sauce cannot be beat. The staff is also really nice, I can tell they recognize that we go often because they sometimes give us orders«on the house» and greet us with a large smile. Even if you aren’t in the area, you should definitely go. 10⁄10 would recommend!

They recently went through an ownership change and have added ramen, Japanese curry, and bento boxes to their menu. My family and I have been there twice in the past week and tried all the new items. A+++. The ramen is packed is flavor(the boiled egg is amazing!) and their bento boxes are a great value. I used to dislike the fried tempura(shrimp and vegetables), as their coating was soggy and tasteless. Their new fried tempura is much improved. I love it now! They continue to have 50% off a wide variety of high quality sushi rolls. A+++. Service is also A+++, better than it was before the ownership change. I highly recommend you give this place a try!

Great selection, good atmosphere. Some of the best Toro I’ve tried. The Tuna Tataki roll is one of my favorites. The head chef makes all the rolls with great presentation. The new management seems to be correcting the issue with the slow service everyone has been taking about.

SERVICECOULDBESLOW — SITATTHEBAR! I gotta help this place out a little bit because the rolls and the rest of the food are fantastic. Taste, appearance, price, everything about em. They even throw you free items routinely here(maybe to make up for the service). I go for lunch all the time for 50% off rolls. I’m gettin amazing rolls for $ 7.50. Last time I went, sat the bar, almost every table was full, but I ordered and got my roll within 6 minutes. Now I wouldn’t recommend this place with a large group during a busy lunch hour because they could definitely forget one of your items(it’s happened) or just take forever on everything. It seems like they need better systems in place. If you sit at the bar though, you may get a good little show as the waitresses and sushi chefs go back and forth over wrong orders at times. I recommend you try any of their rolls, they’re all delicious.

Fine for take out, but a nightmare when dining in. Service is extremely slow, orders get«forgotten» also, everything seems to be covered in sriratcha … Kenny workshop is just a few blocks away. Much better service and no sriratcha

Been here twice, tonight being the second time. Last time we got quite a few sushi rolls. This time we decided to try the soft tofu soup. We also ordered one roll to start off with. First off, they brought a piece of a fatty fish(I didn’t get the type of fish). This was free. It was actually pretty good. We got our roll soon after. The tofu soup took quite a bit long to get, at least a good 15 mins after the sushi roll was done. The soup was on the brink of warm and hot. Other hot pot places usually has it steaming hot. We got the seafood soft tofu. There was probably one shrimp, quite a bit of soft tofu Not much seafood in there. We got the combo for one, so we got a side of kalbi ribs. There was about one full short rib cut up into 3 pieces. Short rib was ok. It did come with a few sides which made it worth it. Overall it was ok. The sushi is better than the hot pot.

We live in the neighborhood and decided to try out this sushi restaurant for dinner. Walking in, it’s modern looking and a decent sized restaurant. It took a few minutes to be greeted and seated. Once seated, we had to flag down a waiter to take our order. The sushi was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Simple, nothing fancy. This was the only plus of this restaurant. We also got the kalbi entrée which was a total rip off. You get a few pieces of short ribs and rice for $ 16. You mind as well go to the Korean market and get 2 lbs of marinated short ribs for the same price and cook yourself. The tempura was too greasy and over fried. The waiters never checked in to see if we needed anything after the food was delivered. Our waters never got refilled. I asked 2 different waiters for hot tea and they never brought it. I even had to ask twice for the check! This restaurant need a lesson on customer service and hiring more waiters and bus boys. Though their sushi is good, this is customer service at its worst.
