I Love everything about this place.
Food, Service, cleanliness… Would change this place for another.

This place is really good, it’s a small place but service is awesome !! Longest I’ve Waited to be seated was about 10 minutes, the menu is small, but the food they serve is really good.

This place has gone downhill pretty damn fast, i used to come here when it had just open with my dad, and brother. At that time the place was good the line used to be out the door, service was great, food was off the hook back in the day. I even remember the owner would go from table to table greeting people. It was the place to be. Now its the place to avoid.
I brought my fiancée here cause she wanted fresh aguachiles, so i of course thought of this place, we came here a few times service was decent and the food was subpar. What did it for us was when we went back for dinner and i had just gotten off of work and went straight to the restaurant in my scrubs since i work at a hospital. The wife’s owner took notice of the hospital name on the scrubs and sat with us as we ate our meal, i found it a bit rude for her to go on about how she didn’t have health insurance and her husband (the owner) needed open heart surgery and how they couldn’t afford it. I’m out of work and off the clock, if she was really interested in health insurance she could have easily have gone to a hospital or make some phone calls. Personally i haven’t gone back to this dump, i now go to Mariscos Colima in North Hollywood.

Horrible service!!! The good is good not great! The waitresses have horrible attitudes which leads to bad costumer services.

Expensive for non flavor, taste less food.
Shrimps are not fresh, octopus were frozen.
First and last time eating here.

I’d put this in the casual dining category. With so many options for Mexican restaurants in Sylmar, I’d highly recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the area. Good food (La Diabla) and outstanding service! Micheladas are delicious if you’re in the mood for an ice cold one.

ignore the posh, shimmy shimmy commenters. this place is extremely friendly, they treat you like family. if you go in there acting entitled then expect a long wait. you receive what you give. as far as food goes, it’s pretty good. unlike most restaurants, they offer guacamole, pico de gallo, etc at no charge. btw don’t be a brat and rate an establishment down because you’re not seated in time or there was a seed in your lemon.

This place was very overrated. It was recommended by a co worker. But honestly my experience here was at best mediocre. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe I just ordered the wrong dish. I still am only giving them one star because I it took a long time for us to get seated and served and the restaurant was not full at all. I don’t think I will be coming back

The Whole Fried Talapia… delicious. It had a smokey favor as if it was grilled outside on wood. The Shrimp wrapped in bacon… is another fav. All I can say is GET SOME !

Food is great. The service is good. :) The garlic shrimp is delicious!!! I enjoyed my dining experience here :)

every time i come here i get the camarones a la jillo. they r da bomb! waitresses know the items on the menu & they tend to u quickly & accurately! U get a side of soup & salad with ur order which is self serve. I recommend this place 4 a quick fresh bite to eat at good prices!

My dininng experience here was great. Started with warm, fresh and tasty chips with salsa. I scarfed the first bowl of these down super quick. Thats right, we had more than just one bowl of chips, they were that good. Went on to eat some great enchiladas, with some beans and rice. And also couldn’t help but order their cheese and chorizo dip. This was served with a stack of warm tortillas. Very yummy! I left this place super full and satisified. I really enjoyed my meal here.

I’ve been going to Rocamar since I was a small child, and the workers and owners are so nice and welcoming. It is family owned and that’s what I love about it. The food is delicious and I still go there!

Ordered their seafood campechana and it was the best. good size portions and had a tostada mixta. Very good service and reasonable prices. Probably one of the best seafood places I have tried in a very long time. Everything on the menu is good.

Ever since I wrote a negative review (based on my personal experience) here, I have been getting nasty messages on Unilocal.
Lol, I have weird and aggressive messages from people defending this restaurant. Different profiles have been created. Talk about wasting time! I’m sure if you write a bad review here you will also have these crazy people sitting behind their computer writing to you. I’m sure after this update I’ll have more messages. :) Thank you for making me important in your life.

REVIEWERS BE WARNED!

Here for the first time. Ordered a campechana and a michelada. Service was extremely fast. The restaurant is big and has a nice ocean décor inside. Before my food arrived, I promptly received a big bowl of tostadas and salsa. My food arrived quickly after. The staff was great. Luckily I arrived before the rush. I will come back for sure

I ate here with my co-​workers yesterday and had an outstanding meal. This is not far from work and I am surprised that I have not discovered this on my own before. A couple of co-​workers recommended this place and the entire crew went together for lunch.
It is tucked into a corner in a plaza, and a bit hard to find but just look for the address number among the other stores and you will find it okay.
They have a very extensive sea food menu. Surprisingly the menu was very diverse and also included some more basic Mexican items, but this is certainly not a traditional Mexican restaurant. Mexican Seafood restaurant yes, and probably the best mariscos restaurant I have eaten at in all of Southern California
I had the Camarones en Mojo de Ajo (Shrimp in garlic sauce) and this was just the greatest dish. Just the right amount of garlic, and the shrimp were cooked to perfection-​moist and juicy. The bed of white rice with the dish was covered with the garlic sauce and topped with the shrimp. Absolutely a delight.
Pricing was very reasonable for the type of restaurant. Typically sea food is more pricey.
Service was a bit slow but understandable since there was only one server for the entire dining room and she did her best to keep up-​our group was over a dozen.
One minor complaint-​would like to have seen more fish dishes including sea bass salmon, both lox and grilled (maybe i missed it in the huge menu, but I did look for it and did not see it). Talapia abounds on the menu but it is a bland fish and not the most nutritious fish and one needs to verify it’s origin for health reasons.
One other complaint-​one star was taken off for the annoying flies in the dining room. Gotta fix this!
I will be back, however.

I come to this restaurant on a regular basis. I work nearby therefore its very
convenient. The waitresses are nice and the food is great. There is also a lot to choose
from on the menu. I would def. recommend. =)
