I work in this area and our company buys donuts for our meetings. I have always dealt with the older lady who was always polite. She has retired now. I went in this morning and got a plain croissant. When I got back to the office and bit into it and it was hard as a rock. I went back to the donut shop and explained to the cashier. He would not give me my money back or give me another choice. He was rude and his customer service SUCKED. Me and my co-workers will not buy anything from this donut shop again!

Great for what it is– a 24hr donut and sandwich shop, with very friendly and attentive staff. The winner here is the philly cheese steak for $ 7~ incl/bag of chips. The BLT is pretty lame and mostly break, and the chicken teriyaki is filling, but not great, but not bad. A go to spot when you are too lazy to cook, it’s too lazy for delivery, and you are on a budget.

I work nearby and just wanted to grab some lunches for the guys at work. The staff was friendly and efficient. I ordered 3 burgers with fries and and box of donuts. Expecting just average food and donuts, we were all pleasantly surprised. The burger was good with the toppings fresh.(Bacon Double Cheese Burger) The lettuce was crisp. The fries were fried just right. Not too salty but sprinkled on top. The donuts got more even attention, they were airy and light instead of greasy and heavy. The variety box was finished fast. I will be coming back to try other food items on the menu and picking up donuts more often here. Keep up the good work guys!

Good food, great doughnuts and not too expensive. The staff are all nice and service is good. Prices are really good compared with the rest of the area.

Great place to grab donuts and a breakfast sandwich. Absolutely nothing fancy, but good food quick. I wish the place wasn’t always full of homeless people begging for money while I wait for my bagel sandwich to be made, but that’s the nature of a transitional neighborhood. Living here, I get that, I guess. This is certainly not a destination restaurant for someone visiting SF, but it’s across the street from my building and is a great neighborhood spot to drag myself to for a hangover breakfast on a Saturday morning.

7 $ for a medium sized breakfast burrito. If it was gourmet food, I wouldn’t mind paying a little extra. It tastes just like every other place in San Francisco. Stick to the over priced donuts.

I came for the baked morning goodies. They had a variety of donuts — glazed, chocolate, sprinkles, holes, etc. — but I was drawn to the massive bear claw and apple fritter. The cinnamon rolls were huge as well. I don’t know if coming at 9:15AM is late but their filled croissant selection was poor(one strawberry croissant…). I ultimately spent $ 2.00 on the apple fritter the size of my open palm. I’ve never spent $ 2.00 on a fritter before but I have to remember that it’s SF and figure I won’t be finding those sizes of apple fritters for $ 1.25 easily like at home. I was pleasantly surprised that it had such a fluffy inside. The outside has its characteristic sugary crunch but this fritter’s inside was hella soft. To my dismay, I ate the whole fritter in the span of 20 minutes. The result were the jitters, strong heart beats pounding in my chest, and an addition to my flubber waistline. So bad yet so good.

Very nice people! It ain’t the fanciest place on earth, but that’s not what I’m coming to for a good casual café.

Tasty, cheap and basic eats and coffee makes this a great morning stop. Too bad there are always drug deals going down out front.

As a NY transplant to SF, I’ve realized that I will not get any good bagels or pizza or breakfast sandwiches. I was absolutely floored upon moving to SF when I asked for a breakfast sandwich and was getting charged almost $ 10! It’s not that hard people to make a breakfast sandwich and I’m not sure why it would cost so much in SF? But at Allstar Care, I think I’ve finally found the best deal for a breakfast sandwich — $ 3.65 for bacon, egg, cheese on a bagel is more my speed. The interior is your standard typical open space with tables and chairs. The service is friendly.

Nice staff members, decent service. Definitely a good spot to turn to for a quick grub. A nice spot for a donut shop in the area. The donuts are big and delicious — your standard donut fare. Decent selection of food and beverage items from the menu to choose from. Individual items are appropriately priced. They do have a breakfast menu which includes combos and sandwich specials. Hamburgers and Sandwiches are also available. All of these items look interesting and it’s something I’ll try next time. This one is similar to the All Star Café on Market and Van Ness, but this store is a little bigger though. There are seats for 20 – 30 customers(I counted 28 seats) which is always a good thing. Some customers come in, order their food and beverage to go which makes getting a seat easy. CASHONLY! Parking: Street Metered Spaces It would be nice if they can have the hours of operation clearly listed on the door or anywhere it’s visible to customers. The 14 Mission has a stop right in front — convenience. — Work in an office nearby? — Getting a quick bite for breakfast, lunch or snack? — This is another dining establishment to visit.

Wonderful staff & solid coffee, and they look to have a varied and decently priced menu. Cash-only places in this day and boggle me, hence one star off.

Geez … has it been 4+ years already since this was a semi-regular breakfast stop for me? I finally made it back last week and I am so pleased to say not a thing has changed at all — same interior to a T, same menu, same nice cheery lady working the counter … most importantly same excellent breakfast specials for a little shy of 6 bucks after sales tax. So I think the deal is they rotate specials by day … it’s diner-style food that just happens to be served in a donut shop. I forget what day is what but generally it’s 2 eggs, 2 slices toast, and a hearty heap of hashbrowns along with either 4 Jimmy Dean-esque sausage links, 2 really good hot links, pancakes, I think maybe a hamsteak was in the mix there too at some point. One or two days they have French Toast instead, which doesn’t come with eggs or toast cause that would be hella redundant, but you get a big pile. Food quality is a solid notch above Denny’s level. Nothing overwhelming but solid and really hits the spot when you want a hearty diner-style breakfast, especially for the price. They also do a lunch special that rotates by day for 5 to 5.50 — cheeseburger, BLT, chicken teriyaki IIRC. Of course all this stuff is on the menu every day too, but if it’s not«special» status that day it’s more like 7.50 or so for the meal. Which still really isn’t bad. Food comes up super-fast too. Never did get around to trying the donuts, but given every time I eat here there’s a regular trickle of people buying half-dozens, they must at least be decent. Never did try the coffee either, I assume it’s the Peerless standard cheap stuff. One thing. This be hobo country. Hobos do frequent the place but I don’t recall anyone ever being badly behaved. If you came through here in FiDi gear or something, though, you’d probably be an instant spange magnet. Maybe worse. If you’re dressed more street and just on your way to school or perhaps one of the many fine dispensaries in the general area, this is a great stop if you don’t mind a little Breakfast With The Downtrodden.

Allstar café had the biggest donuts i’ve ever seen. it’s a café since they also sell breakfast and bagel sammies. eats: glazed donut(.95) –donut almost as big as my hand. fluffy, melt in mouth texture. glazed not too sugary. all varieties of donuts looked huge. pour: peerless«french roast italian» m. 1.75 –medium roast not bold, kind of mellow, some low acidity; –coffee tasted better as time worn on. –coffee urns to the side, out of sight.(self pour) 3.5 stars drips: –open 24⁄7? –service ok –hardly ever see people here. may be a vagrant issue. –metered parking only.

Stale Donut. I bought an Old Fashion here last month. Taste like it’s been it for a couple of days. I never ever had a stale donut from a donut shop before. I gave them an extra star for selling Char Siu Bao but it’s $ 1.50 or so.

This place is disgusting. It’s filthy and they allow pretty much every archetype of yucky clientele to basically live at their tables 24⁄7. I’m never sure which fear is more powerful, the fear of mugging/assault or the fear of food poisoning. The staff can be gruff and a little slow, especially considering the state a typical person is in when they just want a donut. Asking politely several times for the person behing the counter to pause for a moment while cooking food and making entire sandwiches for the guy in front of me, pause to just please grab me a donut, my dollar in hand, were first ignored and then rebuffed. She had zero ability to administer any form of customer service, where even if the request is unreasonable, you’re at least supposed to be nice and if possible just do it for them. The customer is always right, non? Not there! Walk in the door in a tux and you’ll still be treated like all the scummy weirdos who pack the place and loiter for hours. I’m not going back. Even a free donut is too expensive there. You shouldn’t either.

So when you stay over the night in SoMa and you need to BART back to the East Bay, you sometimes get a little hungry. I imagine people going to work also need a little nourishment too. I have been here twice and want to adopt the Chinese family that runs this place, specifically the cashier, who I believe is the matriarch. Both times I have avoided the donuts(which looked wonderful, btw) and instead indulged in the special. First go around it was a three egg omelette filled with cheese, hash browns, and toast. Hash browns were crispy and goey. The omelette was nothing gourmet, but dazzled my taste buds anyway. The toast was buttered and the right kind of stiff. Second go around included scrambled eggs and bacon. Perfectly crisp and large, that bacon was quite the wake up call. Both meals were $ 5.25 and kept me full well until the late afternoon. There is nothing showy about this place, but for cheap and filling food, this is the spot.
