I’m so happy to have found Cid. She is amazing at what she does and specializes in men’s haircuts. She knows exactly what she is doing and I completely trust her judgement. I’ve had a great haircut every time. Thank you Cid!

Cid is awesome. She only does short hair but hey, if you know what you are best at just stick with it. That’s what she is all about. She is a no nonsense, matter of fact kind of hair dresser. You get a fantastic hair cut for a lot less than in other salons.

We absolutely LOVE Cid! My husband has been getting his hair cut by her for years and we have been taking our 5-​year old son there since his very first haircut. My mother has a tendency to give him secret haircuts while I am out of the house (love my mom but she does NOT know how to cut hair) and I have had to take him to Cid for «emergency repairs» more than once. And, man, does she save the day!
I consistently get stopped, complimented on my son’s hair and get asked where we had it done.
She is WONDERFUL with my active and very curious kid and manages to give him super cool haircuts while he’s barely holding still. And he loves her and always stops by the salon to say «hi» when we are on Cortland.

cid is AMAZING. although i appreciated this best kept secret in bernal for several years, it’s only right that barberella has become so well-​loved. so, if you want an appointment, try to make it well in advance. (although, when available, cid is awesome at squeezing people in.)
the location is great, right on the corner with views of bustling cortlandia. most important is the attention to detail. cid LOVES cutting hair and it shows. not afraid to take some extra time to get it just how you want. (and my hair is somewhat unique. cid understood right away.) after your amazing cut, which will last MANY weeks, cid also offers a free 5 min touch up around the edges. and our conversations are always interesting. i can tell cid really listens and cares about our lives. what a gem…

I feel so lucky to have found this place! Cid has given me two cuts and both were superb! She understands the physiology behind all hair types. My hair is fine and thin but she knows just how to manipulate it to make it look full and luxurious. She has a large following but I’ve been able to get in pretty quickly. Cid! Cid! Cid!

I got a great haircut from Cid today, and she was super friendly. I was grateful she got me in sooner even though she’s all booked up– and that she was thoughtful about my hair and what will look good on me. I feel great and it was DEFINITELY worth the price! Cid is great! I have porcupine Asian Hair and if it’s cut too short it will stick out. Cid did a great job explaining the little nuances of how my hair grows and did a great job walking that fine line between too short and just long enough to lay down. I had been to a few other places after deciding to grow my hair longer before coming to Cid and I wasn’t that impressed with the placed I tried before. I have been here two times now and will be back again.

I’ve been seeing Cid for over 5 years now and what can I say, fabulous hair cuts by a fabulous person. I get compliments on my hair every time.
If you want a manly haircut, this is the place to go; she doesn’t really do long hair.

I hate cutting my hair. It grew to my shoulders last year in protest of bad haircuts. So far, Cid has given me two solid short cuts, retaining some minor shag to appease me.

I’ve lived in SF for over 10 years and chased the «perfect» haircut; $ 8 barber shops where i point at a drawing, $ 85 salons where i am waited on by a team of three, the whole Lower Haight Hair Ghetto and there’s even been a few friend’s roommates who’ve tried. But no one is like Cid. My quest has ended.
Cid has excellent skills and talent when it comes to hair and she has wonderful people skills. My hair is super straight and i have a ton of cow licks to boot. She told me what she could do AND what wouldn’t work. I told her things old stylists did that worked and she was open to working with me. She also filled me in on what she was doing as she did it so I wouldn’t be surprised at the end. Not only was the end result EXACTLY what I wanted but the process itself was pleasant and I felt validated throughout.
She gives a great men’s haircut, whether you want something classic or or something with a little more edge. And I feel it is important to add, when the haircut begins to grow out, it still looks great. I never feel a need to «maintain» it every other week like some places.
I’ve been a fan/​customer of Cid’s for a few years. She’s one rad lady and one awesome business owner. Now that I found Cid, I stopped wearing hats!!!

Cid is that rare person who can see what you would look like at your best and simply removes what’s not working. She’s also a lovely person to talk to.
In short, one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had.

Sooo my boyfriend was a snarky b*tch before Cid gave him a make-​over, but now he’s a legit snarky b*tch. She did an amaaaaazing job! Highly suggest going here for men’s cuts — she turned my boyfriend from a shaggy, long-​haired leaping gnome into a dapper dandy.

I never really write Unilocal reviews, but my experience with Xavier was so awesome that I knew that I had to write. I have been looking for a dependable, friendly, skilled, and reasonably priced hairdresser for a while. I’ve been to the Union Square salons (Vidal, Wicked, and Festoon), but my grad student budget just couldn’t hold up. Even though Vidal offers $ 18 haircuts with the professional school, who has 3 hours to spare to sit and get their haircut?!
This long story brings me to Xavier. He was so easy going and knew exactly how to cut my straight, Asian hair. He didn’t push products and was so great to talk with. At $ 45, this haircut was a steal and I definitely know that I’ll be coming back. Thanks Xavier for one of my best cuts in a long time!

My husband got a great cut from the owner, Cid. I believe it may be kind of a no-​no to write a secondhand review but whatever. I did the Unilocal search, I made the last minute appointment, I got my husband out of bed, I described the haircut to Cid, and I was there for the entire thing. I think that makes me an honorary customer.
I’ve had a vision for many months. This style that I just knew my husband could pull off and look dashingly handsome. When I began describing it to Cid she immediately mentioned Mad Men. And yes! That was it. A retro 60’s fade thingy. My husband has severely thin, curly hair and Cid said this style would be great for him. And that it would be a sin for him to have long hair. She did her thing and it turned out perfect. She also offered free neck clean-​ups in between cuts. She also let me bring in my little dog and fawned over him.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Cid for about 6 months now. I cut it myself for years — punk rock style — but I want to look a little more put together these days. Before Barberella, I tried a few places, always returning to my bathroom for the next cut when they just couldn’t understand what I wanted. Too many hairdressers think they know more about what you want than you do!
Cid took the time to understand my desired hair cut. She is skilled and pays great attention to detail She also specializes in men’s hair and has extensive training from American Crew – the top in men’s hair. She always does an excellent job — plus she offers free clean-​ups to keep the cut looking fresh.

I am still a huge fan of Barberella, but I no longer see Matteo who has moved on to another salon. My hairdresser is the lovely Mireya, who has proven herself to be completely competent and talented.
I have EXTREMELY thick hair and she has expertly figured out how to cut it correctly, which is not an easy job, believe me. I see Mireya about once a month and we alternate between doing a cut and complete die job or doing a cut and toner to save me a little money since I am one of the millions of laid off people in the world looking for a job.
She is a really interesting, sweet, big hearted person who always makes me feel comfortable and appreciated. I am always happy to see Mireya and be in her hair care.
I always look forward to hanging out with the crew at Barberella and you will too. The owner of the salon, Cid Peaters, is always cheerful and says hello. She recently had an art show across the street at Stray Dog which was very impressive.
