Overpriced but convenient. No frills products, including hot deli, cold deli, liquors and beers, along with general convenience and hygiene items. Think along the lines of Whole Foods prices with slightly lower quality. Great if you’re constrained by time and need to get something quick in SOMA.

For a corner store/neighborhood market, this IS as good as it gets! I wish I had caved in earlier because this has become my go-to market. Living a block away, I always thought Safeway and Trader Joe’s were my only options. I didn’t realize this gem was actually worthy of the walk. I think it was the bad first impression I got a couple months back when I ordered a salami sandwich at the deli and got a turkey sammie. Because of that, I stuck with my Safeway/Trader Joe’s. I would always dread hopping in my car to go to Safeway to stock up on a week’s worth of goodies. I even went through a lazy Postmates phase. Finally, I have learned my lesson and I pop in here 2−3x/wk to pick up food to cover me for the next 2 – 3 days. They actually have a really decent stock of grocery items and not too shabby of a wine selection. It really is like a mini-size grocery store and it has all I need to keep my fridge and pantry full. The people here are also super friendly — that is, if they don’t work behind the deli. Everyone on the floor or those working the register are always really nice. The deli folks aren’t too thrilled to be there half the time. One in particular rolls her eyes and looks utterly miserable every time I order from her, but whatever. #notmyproblem

The food in there is 5 stars but the service is about a 1.5. I think I will list everything. If you want the best sandwich maker its the short middle aged blonde lady she makes them the best. After that its hit or miss with the other workers. There is this tongan or somoan girl who works the counter and she is the rudest worker there. I mean I have endless encounters with her because I work in the area so trust me. She is rude as hell. The manager is pretty cool his name is Tony and when I needed to return something or was over-charged he took care of me so i have no quarrels with him. But that reminds me you should really look at your receipts because they will over charge you. They have the freshest meats and wide variety of cheese and bread or whatever other what-nots you may need in there. Oh yea everything is over-priced but hey you gotta expect that in this type of neighborhood.

9/29/15-went in for something small and the girl working behind the counter asked me «Would you like anything else?» I replied, «No thank you that’s all.» She then said, «Are you sure? There’s nothing in your pockets?» I was accused of stealing from this place in which I was a paying customer. This place is way overpriced, unfortunate that those living in this area don’t have a ton of choices. I recommend going elsewhere to spend your money.

I wanted to like to place because i believe in supporting local small businesses, but they have the worst service here! The lady behind the counter is rude and has the worst attitude. The sandwich was mediocre at best, and the pre-made food was stale and bland. Like others have mentioned, Safeway may be the way to go.

I live SUPER close to this market so i usually end up doing some grocery shopping here. Keep in mind, it is extremely over priced but the location is unbeatable(for me) so i usually buy the necessities here when i’m too lazy to walk to safeway, which is a lot of the time. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The salad bar ROCKS and the sandwiches are great too(dutch crunch galore!)

Although this place is one of my favorite delis I am saddened to report that the liver pâté it once had is no longer as a featured sandwich. I have enclosed a few pictures of my delightful Sammy from earlier today but still sad that they change the menu. Still a great location and pretty good prices for the embarcadero.

Popped in here to grab a sandwich on my way to a Giants game. There was one person ordering when I arrived at the deli, and the woman working behind the counter was working at a snails pace. She was oblivious to the fact that there was at least 4 other people waiting. Finally, another girl(who looked like she was either having a really bad day, or she legitimately hated life) showed up and started taking orders and she was just as slow as the other woman. When it’s my turn to order the woman starts taking my order and then she just walks away and helps someone else. What the hell, I couldn’t believe it! After that she just ignored me until the other girl came over. I got my sandwich and panini and left annoyed. I opened my sandwich at the game and there was brown wilted lettuce and almost no mayo on it. The panini was mediocre at best. I do not recommend this place if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat. There are waaaay better places down by the park. Hell, even Safeway’s deli makes better sandwiches than this place AND you’ll get better service.

Bayside market is one of those places that charges you 1 $ or 2 $ more for convenience and it really is because there are no other stores within several blocks radius. The nearest pharmacy is Walgreens or Safeway supermarket which is over on 4th street near att park along the embarcadero and if you go the opposite way along the embarcadero you can go to the ferry building where you can get fresh breads, fruits, meats, & cheeses also theres the farmers market on the weekends but buying groceries at the ferry building might be a bit pricey. Back to bayside market well there you can get almost anything conveniently, your frozen foods, beverages, dairy, deli meats, toiletries, beer, liquors, cigarettes, daily paper, lotto etc. What I like is that if I need something right away I can go in and get what I need but of course I’m paying for convenience lol. I also like the deli section they would have a small sign that has the sandwich of day that they make and everyday is different, one day they can do turkey the next day can be peppered salami sandwiches. Sandwiches are pretty good from there deli, they also have fresh pasta salads, and hot food. Bayside market is a nice and clean market, some workers there friendly and some can seem rude. But shop at your own convenience.

I thought it was going to be one of those teeny convenience shops but contrary to what it looks like, it’s actually quite a spacious cave of food. There’s a deli and pretty much everything else you’d expect from a convenience store. Perfect for grabbing some quick grub in the area.

A helpful jewel in the otherwise unadorned lunchtime crown of boring Brannan. I like the mix of fresh items(walk-around salad bar, pre-made sushi, live deli) and packaged items(drinks, crackers, basic-drugstore-level and coop-market-level snacks). There’s a lot of refrigerated items, like whole pickles, pre-prepared deli sandwiches, yogurt, and these are great for grab-and-go noshing. The deli has a variety of sandwiches available on breads, rolls, and wraps, plus an impressive complement of cold salads and other deli staples. I ordered a turkey sandwich, and was pleased to discover that there were at least three styles of turkey from which to choose(smoked, deli-style, and something else). I ordered my sandwich on a sourdough roll, but I wish I’d known it was a Boudin-style crunchy sourdough chewtoy, rather than a softer variety. Then again, given Bayside Market’s proximity to Bakery Boudin, I could have anticipated. There’s a nice little cache of black wrought-iron tables and chairs right outside, which makes this a great eating spot, as well. It’s a little windy, so anchor down those napkins!

These are my lunch friends. I go down to the market with one coworker, and then yap it up with the staff behind the deli counter. They’re great people. Food is great too. Hot plate on Friday is the fancy salmon. I usually stick to the salad bar, as it’s solid every day of the week.

Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE customer service. Did I mention that the ‘customer service’ was terrible? Stumbled upon this place during a lunch time walk and noticed that they have a deli in the back. I was craving a sandwich so I went in. The menu looked promising — they offer pepper turkey and cranberry on dutch crunch which is my FAVORITE! There were 3 women working the deli and two of them seemed very friendly — the other appeared to be Ms. Grumpy McGrumps. So you know who to avoid during your trip, she is the late 40’s/early 50’s, short, Hispanic female. Anywho, as fate would have it, Grumpy McGrumps finishes up with her customer and I’m next. Lucky me! She says — and I’m not kidding: ‘What do you want?’(Yes, she said it with an attitude) Me: ‘Hi. I’d like a pepper turkey on dutch crunch with cranberry, please.‘ McGrumps: Looking at me as though I have 5 eyeballs, «Ok. What else?» Me: «That’s it. Just one sandwich.» McGrumps: «WHATDOYOUWANTONTHESANDWICH?» Me: «pepper turkey, cranberry with everything on it.» McGrumps: «Next time say you want everything on it if that’s what you want.» Me: «Okie dokie.» McGrumps: «These people need to learn to say what they want.» At that point, I said nothing more. She proceeds to make my sandwich, very aggressively pulling out the bread, slapping fixins on it, etc. I work too hard for my money(actually, I don’t), and I thought to myself, «you know what? I’m done with this place!.» So I simply left the store(never to return again) and came upon the Brannan Street Café a few blocks away!

One night, my boyfriend and I were about to make a late fajita dinner. I had marinated our chicken, prepared the shrimp, got the guacamole, the veggies, a gorgeous heirloom tomato, and I asked my boyfriend to hand me the Trader Joe’s tortillas. To my utter horror, they had gone bad after a few days because Trader Joe’s does not put preservatives in their items. My boyfriend suggested fajita-less tortillas, but that wasn’t going to cut it for me. I looked at the time and saw that it was 8:59pm. I called Bayside Market and said, «Can you PLEASE just be open for ONE more minute?! I need TORTILLAS! I know you close at 9!» They told me to hurry so I ran downstairs in my pjs and knocked on the door. All chairs have been stacked away and they were wiping the tables. The cashier looked up and was like, «Are you the tortilla lady?!» And I said«Yes!» They showed me the tortillas and I grabbed them and paid in cash. I ran back upstairs and opened the door and said to my boyfriend in triumph, «I’m the tortilla lady!»

This is a really conveniently placed shop(the nearest supermarket is a 20 minute walk away). There’s a good selection of groceries and other goods. Some things are reasonably priced, others are overpriced — as you would expect, it being a small shop. There is also a deli and salad bar with warm and cold foods which are great for a quick lunch, and there is outdoor seating. The only real downside is how rude some of the employees are… Not all of the people who work here are sullen and impolite, but a significant few most definitely are.

This place is such a gem! Sooo thankful to have this place a block down from my place! They have probably the best premade sushi ever — fresh every day and amazing La Brea French and sour dough baguettes I love their salad bar and deli — the premade salads are awesome and pretty unique, delicious hot + ready breakfast sammies(on croissants, bagels, or English muffins) They are a pretty legit market — have anything you can think of +20% Markup(oh well) but I’ve always been happy with every lunch or grocery item I’ve gotten — I just wish they had more fresh flowers for sale :)

Short Story: Their chicken salad tastes bland. Long Story: I came here on a Saturday afternoon on my way to AT&T park. I stopped to get some food and drink and the place was fairly crowded but not too bad. I got some chicken salad and it was not the best. It tasted a bit bland for me and it was a bit pricey. Verdict: I probably would not go back.

This place employs at least one thief. My card started having fraudulent charges after I came here to purchase groceries last night. $ 400 worth of ghetto clothes purchased in San Bruno and San Jose. Easy to spot who ripped off my card when I hadn’t used my card in over a week and had been at work during the purchases today. So not only is this place where food goes to die, they steal from people they should be protecting. I cannot wait until I get even Steven. Similar to their lunch offerings, revenge is a dish best served cold.
