There is a shitty, shitty bartender by the name of Suzy who is unapologetically racist and shitty. No mayor what one spends i.e. Leaves a tip here, she will be shitty. I’ve had excellent times with many other other bartenders here. She is awful. Intentionally mean, ridiculously awful For no reason. What. A. Cunt.

Environment: Great place to just hang out and chill. The place has two pool tables so that’s always an option. The bar selection is good! Customer service: great! The bartender was friendly and helpful. Drinks were great! Would definitely recommend!

This spacious bar has plenty of seating for multiple groups, billiard tables, and tons of TVs to watch sports games. I love this place. I came here for Monday Trivia Night with some friends, and it was very well-orchestrated. Good variety of questions with different rounds, including a music round and picture round. The selection of beer is good, although they do not serve food… only bar snacks. Thoughtfully, they have binders of to-go menus so you can order from restaurants around the area. How nice! During one of the breaks in the trivia night, I left the bar to grab Mexican food and came back. On the night that I played, our team won several drink tickets from getting 2nd place. Woohoo! I totally did not contribute many answers, but it was fun nevertheless.

IMO, I much prefer this place than Yancy’s Saloon a few blocks up. This place has a great romantic dim lighting, multiple TVs for all types of sports, pool tables, arcade games… the list goes on. You can honestly bring any type of hang out here. Date night? Perfect room ambiance. Reunion? Get a game of pool goin’. Cheering for a fellow sport team? You’re in the perfect place. My friends and I were back in town for a week, so we decided to check out the bars in San Francisco. We came on a Tuesday night and the bar was pretty much empty. No big games going on, so it’s was quiet and relaxing. The bartender was suuuuper nice and attentive. She cracked jokes with us and discussed personal favorite drinks to recommend. Plus, she was super fast and efficient with the drinks. What an awesome bartender! Personally, my fav was the Blackhorn Punch cocktail. Yummmm. The Cucumber Quencher was really sour, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not into sour candies and such.

This place has gone so down hill. It will still be popular because of the tvs, patio and with regulars who have been coming in for years but the staff is just awful. I used to go in there a couple of years ago and it was really fun and carefree. I stopped by a few times recently and just wow. The only bartender that had just a nasty personality then is now the main one. That’s probably the problem but the rest of the staff is equally as bad. Well, the tall guy is great and door guy seemed cool but you name the bad trait and one of the bartenders have it. There’s creepy, slow, inefficient and down right rude. It’s like they hire people with zero experience and let them play bartender at the customers expense I don’t know what direction the owners are taking but I just think they just don’t care anymore.

Extremely romantic setting extremely dim lit, dog friendly, and a really cool Internet juke box. Great prices for drinks and the house wine is better than most. A great bar to bring a date.

This was stop number one for the Sunset Pub Crawl on ClueKeeper. It seemed like a nice neighborhood bar with a few locals hanging out playing pool in the afternoon. The happy hour lasts from noon to 7 pm weekdays and includes pitchers! I’m not sure how crowded it gets at night, but during the day there were plenty of tables and booths, and free wi-fi. Overall, they are a «sports» bar, but they seem pretty nerd-friendly as well, with trivia night, board game night and the ClueKeeper puzzle /trivia pub crawl.

I’m visiting from Brooklyn and my friend works closely this bar so we thought it was a good option. While we were in our lyft to the bar, our driver mentioned that it was an ‘interesting bar’. We arrived and paid for multiple drinks while attempting to play pool a couple of times on empty tables, but employees claimed they were ‘up next’ and ‘of priority’ so we waited. When we were finally allowed to play, right after we bought a round of drinks and put in money for the game, the bar yelled at us that they were closing in 5 minutes. With little respect they monitored our actions and were very aggressive about getting us to leave. Overall it seemed like customers were not a priority. Yes, go here to watch sports and to experience verbal abuse — but if you’re looking for a good time skip this bar and go elsewhere.

This is a great bar to watch any game or sports match/tournament. I have been here a few times to watch martial arts tournaments. It has become somewhat of a tradition. It’s free to watch some games! Really popular fights obviously charge cover. They don’t serve snacks here but what’s great about Blackthorn is that they allow you to bring outside food and enjoy it there. They even offer plates, napkins, forks, etc. when you do. Once you’re done they’re quick to clean up after you. They offer their cocktail drinks in little Mason jars. Real cute and hipster. I ordered their cucumber cocktail on the menu. It was very refreshing as well. I really like this place. It is very spacious and doesn’t stink like Yancy’s Saloon. They could use bigger TVs or lower them. When you sit for a long period of time and have to sit well belong the screen, it hurts your neck after a while. I experienced this after the Rousey v Correia fight. It was very crowded and they added a lot of extra seating that night with $ 10 cover. Come here if you want to relax and watch a game! Bring your pizza and enjoy a few beers!

Pleasant atmosphere with lots of TVs = great for viewing of sports events. FYI re: food… They only carry various flavors of chips and peanuts — though you can order in from nearby restaurants… And, the staff here are super friendly in terms of clearing out the pizza boxes and such once you’re done. I’m a fan.

INSANELY loud and the bartenders are very unfriendly. I’d be unfriendly too if I worked here, but it’s not the place you should go if you want a somewhat mellow time– or want to hear your friends at all. Their drinks are good and prices are decent. On the up side, their patio is nice, but that space gets snatched up fast.

Situation — Meeting friends for drinks a few times and watching UFC Pros — The bartenders(and staff) are friendly and provide good service — Credit cards are taken — There’s a pool table — There are a good amount of TVs — A decent amount of beers on tap — A good amount of seating Cons — The bathrooms could probably be a tiny bit nicer

Wow. Now THIS is a sports bar. They’ve got around a dozen screens playing ALLTHEGAMES at once and they’ve got some spirited fans packed in here. When our hero popped in to imbibe a few brews and watch some Sunday football, there were girls ordering mimosas alongside bros shouting«RIPHISHEADOFF» at the screen. For only 5 to 6 bucks a pop, the beers here are quite reasonably priced. The staff is quick to take your order as well, and our hero’s glass was never empty. PROS: — Good variety of seating from a long bar to cozy booths to outside patio spots. — Decent number of beers on tap and a full bar to boot as well. — Games like pool and arcade games available as well. CONS: — Most of their beers are of the macro variety. You wont exactly find Pliny the Elder or Drake’s 1500 on tap here.

Blackthorn is a decent hang-out spot in the Inner Sunset. The place is big and there’s always plenty of room to sit and move around. I appreciate the outdoor patio, which even has some outstanding heat lamps overhead to keep you cozy on chilly nights. Unfortunately there’s not a ton of ventilation out there — and most people are smoking cigarettes — so the crisp air always ends up being followed by coughing. Mucky Duck and Irish Shamrock are two of my preferred spots in the area– but Blackthorn is well worth checking out — if you want ample sitting room, if you enjoy playing pool, and if you’re looking for a warm smoking area. Trust.

BThorn is a great local bar to get your drank on and have a fun time. Such a generic thing to say, but the Thorn has never done me wrong. The memories of hanging out with friends is obviously the part that endears me to Blackthorn, but there’s a lot to like about the place. The staff is nice, the place is clean, and there’s plenty to do to keep your entertained. Pool table? Check. Lots of TVs? Check. Tons of seating(indoor and outdoor? Czeck! A good time is had by all(unless you’re a miserable person, then you should probably just stay home)!

For a multitude of reasons, Blackthorn is the perfect tavern for those with short attention spans: 1. A large collection of TVs simultaneously airing the World Cup, the A’s, the Giants, and some new drama with the sound set to mute. 2. Tired of your seat at the bar? How about moving to a table? Don’t like that table? How about a move to the outdoor patio in back? Still antsy? Play some pool. 3. Can’t get into walking your dog today? Take her here and she won’t tell a soul.(Dogs are welcome until 7 p.m.). 4. So ADD that you can’t focus on what to wear? Anything goes here. I walked in on a Friday night clad in a down vest and flip flops and fit right in. 5. Nobody with a short attention span wants to stand three deep at a bar trying to get the tender’s attention. Despite a sizable crowd, people weren’t bellied up to the bar nor 3-deep. Walked up, made eye contact, ordered and got my drink then put it on repeat. 6. With a short span of attention you’ll not want to deal with parking here anytime before normal dining hours have passed. On Friday night around 10 p.m. there were 3 available spots on Irving in the same block as Blackthorn. Shhh, don’t tell. Blackthorn is the quintessential neighborhood bar but if you don’t live nearby and find yourself passing through it’s a worthy place to throw a few back. Even if you don’t think you’re dressed for it, have your dog with you, and really want to watch the A’s game.
