I think I’d take a salami cone over ice cream once in awhile. So I come to Boccalone for a meat cone! They have all kinds of meats and they explain to you what each meat is inside the cone. For the cone and amount of slices, it was only 4 bucks, not bad!

How have I not reviewed this place yet? Their meet selection is fresh, fresh, fresh. My favorite sandwich from here is the Italian Sausage sandwich followed by the Mess Piggy. The staff here is super friendly and can make lunch suggestions based on your taste preferences. This is by far my favorite shop in the Ferry Building. :)

Get the meat cone. The general one has mortadella, fennel salumi, and capicola. Not a huge fan of the mortadella but the rest was melt in your mouth good. I would recommend getting a custom meat come and switching out the mortadella for the lardo if you want to be naughty

Since my last review of Boccalone, my tastes in food have changed or evolved in the last 7 years. Ever since I discovered their famous Salumi Cone, something I didn’t have back then during my first review, it’s become one of my frequent stops at the Ferry Building. There’s nothing like salted pig parts in a cone, definitely get the mixed cone for a good sampling of what meats they have to offer( ). Most of the time I have no idea what I’m eating even though I always have the workers there explain what each meat is(I do recall the wild boar being really delicious though). But it does make for a great portable snack when you’re on the go. I also had their Muffaletta again for old times sake. And while I still think their Muffaletta is a little pricey for what you get compared to the ones they serve in New Orleans, but it’s still a pretty delicious saandwich. So if you’re in the Ferry Building and looking to try something unique, definitely stop by Boccalone and grab a Salumi Cone… or two.

Best place to grab cured meats for a fancy charcuterie platter! Must also try their meat cone. So yummy!

Oh man. Charcuterie is one my favorite things to eat. What can you not like about it… For $ 5 I enjoyed my cone. Fast snack food with quality meats. Tip: I made the mistake of just ordering the prosciutto cone. Get the assorted meats. This way you can try their other delicious slices.

We decided to give this place a try, since we didn’t want to eat a big lunch. We received our sandwiches within just a couple of minutes. We both got the Italian sausage hot panini, which came along with onions and spicy pickled peppers. This sandwich was packed with flavor! Just imagine all the flavors: fatty, salty, sour, and spice all packed into one sandwich! Drools! It can be a little messy from all the goodness dripping down, but the bread is thick enough to hold the sandwich together. Yum yum!

Had a custom combo plate with prosciutto, salami and another pork shoulder(forgot the Italian name) with olives. Bought a loaf of bread from acme bread next door(really hard walnut cranberry bread), a cheese plate from cowgirl creamer(really overpriced), sat at the back of the ferry building at a table overlooking bay bridge, made myself some little Italian sandwiches washed down with carbonated water and enjoyed life.

Get a meat cone! Boccalone is genius; they know the market in the Ferry Building is popping and they offer a product to customers for a great price that allows you to sample and enjoy their product. A cone of delicious meats, for the low, low price of $ 5. Of course Baccalone does offer an assortment of other products, however if you’re a tourist in the Ferry Building and don’t get to visit often, just get the cone. Delicious prosciutto, salumi and whatever else they have in stock. Definitely take a minute to check out the handing cured meats as well!

Meat cone! It’s a cone of meat! Why didn’t someone think of this earlier?! Ahhhhh. Located in the ferry building, Boccalone is curing and slicing up some great charcuterie! It’s one of the smaller stalls in the building but, they are turning out great sandwiches, meat cones on the regular. I was walking around yesterday looking for a place to have lunch and really couldn’t make up my mind. So what did I do next? I decided to get a meat cone and figure it out. I mean there’s no better way to make a decision with a cup full of charcuterie in your hand. I got the standard cone($ 4) which included mortadella, coppa, and salumi. I’m a sucker for mortadella littered with pistachios and this one was excellent. The salumi was nicely peppered and had a great texture. The coppa, nice and fatty :) I’ll surely be back for a larger«custom» cone when I feel like eating like a sophisticated caveman. Until then, I’ll be dreaming of those cured meats cause they be on point.

Cute little place with a unique offering in the Ferry Building. Food in a cone– highly appealing. I got one of the pre-made cones, and it was… fine. I’d been hoping they’d have more interesting selections in it, but I think it was 2 – 3 pieces each of three different, pretty ordinary cured meats. Tasted good, but nothing unusual. Service was on the surly side. I was friendly, and the attendant was not, which is probably why I didn’t know about or attempt to ask about a cone made to specifications. Still, four stars for novelty and relative tastiness.

Another year has gone by and I was able to make my annual voyage to Boccalone. The Proscuitto Cotto is still a great sandwich, though a slightly worse deal now that the price is up to $ 8.50. Though actually I tink I missed a 2015 visit, so a $ 1 increase in 2 years isn’t terrible. It was smaller than I remember, and I could have plowed through two, but mostly cuz it’s so good. When the price goes up to $ 9.50, they’re gonna lose a damn star!!!

GIVEMEALLTHESODIUM!!! Very cute little shop in the ferry building with a flying pig. My bf really wanted the coppa di testa that they have. It’s headcheese so a mix of all the offals! We got a couple of slices of it. There was a lot of people behind the counter but the cashier was pretty friendly. We sat on the side of the little shop… the table was clean. I liked what we ate but I feel like It could be saltier!

Awesome little MEAT shop inside the Ferry Building. Start with a meat cone. Choose your fav cuts and they’ll layer them up in a savory cone heaven for you. My intention was to just do the meat cone and then buy whichever one I liked best. Well… I liked all of them so much that I then bought almost $ 30 of cured meat to-go. Yea, sounds like a problem, but a very good one. The staff that was working when I stopped by were all super friendly. My cuts all traveled well back to the East Coast and have been enjoyed by all, most especially, by my doggie!

I want to start off by saying that I’m not a cured meats connoisseur by any means, however I know good cured meat when I see it. I’ve seen this place quite a few times and I never really bothered getting anything, this time however I stopped to look at the menu and I saw that the cones were really affordable, so I got one just to try it. I got the prosciutto cone and I must say for 5 bucks they give you a fairly big size portion, as far as the cured meat goes it’s pretty tasty, pretty close to the best prosciutto I’ve had, I definitely would like to try one of their sandwiches. I’d like to come back here to try their sandwiches and also buy one of their cured meats to take home. Definitely worth a try if you enjoy cured meats as much as I do.

I stopped by here for lunch today after a long flight to SF. I ordered a Prosciutto Cotto with Provolone & Whole Grain Mustard panini. It was delicious. For the price in SF I thought the serving size was totally reasonable(getting a meal for under $ 10 here is always a treat). The bread was crusty and was clearly freshly made. There was a very generous amount of meat on the sandwich(I saw another review that mentioned it was light, but that wasn’t my experience). While I waited for the sandwich to be prepared(this only took a few minutes) I looked around their shop. It’s small but they’ve got a really nice selection of meats. I wish I had something available like this near me. The customer service wasn’t anything special. I’ll probably make a return visit here for lunch while I’m in town for work. This may become a regular dining experience.

Artisan Meats by the Bay, literally! «Flavors» is the first word that comes to mind when you think of the various cured meats that you can buy at Boccalone! The flavors are so amazing that it is almost a crime to ruin them in a sandwich! My recommendation is to take a small taster in one of their«cones» and see which meat you like most, then order your sandwich. I prefer to have one of their platters(Salumi Platters) like Small Salumi Platter or Large Picnic Platter if I am not alone! On a cold day(or night) a bottle of good vodka would serve as an excellent companion to these platters! :-) Do not shy away from the sandwiches; they are excellent, but for me «meat» is why I stop here! As for the location? Well, I can think of a few other beautiful spots in the City by the Bay where you can not only satisfy your hunger for delicious food, but also feed your visual desires for pretty urban scenery. The Ferry Building is a beautiful place to visit whether you live in the city or visiting.

Homer Simpson once said, «I’d be vegetarian if bacon grew on trees.» No truer words have been said. Cue Boccalone!(Meat doesn’t grow on trees here, but this is a store filled with meat! Meat on your right! Meat on your left! Meat everywhere! Meat galore! … Am I in meat heaven?) For $ 4, you get a meat cone that includes a a few mixed slices of different meats. Pretty nice to carry around to snack on while you walk around the Ferry Building! You can order packaged meats, meat plates, and sandwiches too.

Yum! This place deserves its 4 stars. Of course try the meat comes. They’re a great little snack. Their prosciutto is DELICIOUS! Soft and salty in all the right ways. Their salami was good and oily. Just wish they had a spicier salami. I would order the prosciutto separately because it was that good. Hope to try their sandwiches one day!

Meat shop in the ferry building. Sells packaged meats, meat cones and sandwiches. Great place to get prosciutto for cooking. Mess Piggy — 4⁄5 — Moist pork, lots of meat, good bread. Pickled peppers balanced everything well. Muffaletta — 3⁄5 Overall, good sandwiches. I may stick to just getting their cold meats in the future though. «I’m a fan.»
