In town for a conference and needed to find something close! Was amazed by the high quality food and excellent service! Great find!

Just had a business lunch here. The food was actually good, I would rate 4 stars, but it loses 1 star for ambiance, a little too sterile — It’s inside the Lowes hotel — and 1 star for slow service. The waitstaff is incredibly nice, so not their issue, I don’t know what’s up with the kitchen, because the place is not busy and it took a loooong time to get the entrees…

Had my first visit to Brasserie for a weekday lunch. Overall, with so many options in the city, I’d skip this one given the price and slow service. *pro tip* ask for your check once your food arrives if dining here for lunch. Food 3 stars — I paid $ 24 for a salmon salad which I don’t typically mind doing if the salmon is cooked correctly. Mine was left a bit under-cooked so much so that I couldn’t finish it. Portion size is just right for lunch. The bread served before was ok but nothing to note. I did enjoy the vinaigrette dressing and the goat cheese once it arrived. Operations — 2 stars The servers were incredibly friendly so I can’t fault them but it took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. While I understand kitchens back-up, it took a bit too long. I asked to substitute goat cheese for the blue cheese and when my salad arrived, no cheese at all.

The best family dinner get-together we’ve ever had, and we’ve been searching for 10 years! Excellent menu, scrumptious food, outstanding service, fabulously quiet so my hard-of-hearing dad could hear all 7 of us at his birthday celebration. BACKGROUND: I called ahead to book a table for 8 for Sunday night at 6:30pm. I mentioned to the reservationist that it was my dad’s birthday, and that we were looking for a quiet place because he was hard of hearing, and that the restaurant had been recommended because it was quiet. When we got there, Jessica, the hostess, greeted us and seated us, and then asked whether we’d like the music turned down. We said yes, and she turned it way down, which was perfect for us to have good conversation around the table. The tomato watermelon burrata was fantastic. The butternut squash soup was outstanding. The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked. Jordan, our server, was extremely accommodating. He helped my son find a charger for his cell phone. He brought extra fries promptly. He and Jessica kept our lemonades and iced teas filled up(no extra charge). He was very gracious about helping us clean up some iced tea we spilled. And he didn’t blink an eye when we asked if he could provide plates so that we could serve a special birthday torte that a friend had made and that we brought with us. He reminded us that there was no need to add an extra tip, as the tip was included(but we added an extra $ 20 anyway). Our car in the valet parking was only $ 15(all day on Sunday). All in all, a thoroughly satisfying experience.

Great spot for work lunches. Had a nice celery purée soup and Dungeness Crab Louie. Food was good, setting was upscale, and service was courteous. But, not surprisingly, it’s a bit pricey. Inside the Mandarin Oriental.

Brasserie S&P is within the lobby and looks more like a lounge than a restaurant. When seated, you can see those checking in or out of the Mandarin Oriental and people headed for the elevators to return to their rooms. An open space would work for a dining area, but perhaps in a more secluded area without so much traffic. Dinner: If the burrata is still served when you visit and you’re a fan of beets, I highly recommend starting with that number. The burrata is the real highlight of the dish — it’s moist, soft, and bursting with freshness. I’ve never had a strong affinity for beets, but for those who favor them, they come with light arugula topped with olive oil and a balsamic reduction. Unfortunately, the duck breast did not make an impression. The meat was over cooked, leaving it somewhat dry. It was paired with an apple reduction that unfortunately did not add to the lackluster taste of the meat. The sauce was scanty and the flavor seemed one dimensional. The server may have been new to the scene as service seemed to ebb and flow at odd times throughout the night.

«Sorry, but I was not impressed. After getting the 7×7 review that this was THE place for a business breakfast, I scheduled my meeting there. I felt more neglected than at a bustling greasy spoon. For some reason they choose to serve coffee in uninsulated pots they sit on the table, so after the first cup, all the rest are cold. My poached eggs were literally raw except for a thin skin of cooked white. It was truly inedible. Since I was in a business breakfast with a stranger, I could not complain. Spent the next 20 minuted trying to discretely get the attention of someone so I could ordered some bacon and at least get some food in my stomach. I am happy to pay top dollar for a place that is actually top dollar. This place falls FAR short of the mark. I’ll literally never be back.»

Lovely upscale breakfast. This is a restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which I didn’t know when I booked a Sunday breakfast reservation on Open Table. Elegant atmosphere, impeccable service, fabulous meal. My wife and I stay the night in San Francisco quite a bit. We both agreed that this will be one of our A-List destinations for breakfast when we want to go upscale.

I enjoy this place for lunch meetings and have not been disappointed. They have this lemonade on the menu it is very good but $ 8 a pop. At times it does get a little loud so that might be a turn off for some…

Fancy in price, with fancy(small) portions, Brasserie serves pretty good food. Even though there was a lot of «fancy» in that last sentence, they didn’t seem to mind me dining there in a tracksuit. My sister enjoyed her Steak Frites and my Chicken Breast dish(with creamy mashed potatoes) was pretty awesome too. The dishes themselves may be considered a tad overpriced, but we were both fully satisfied with our dining experience. For those with gluten sensitivities, they can prepare most items on their menu without gluten!

NOT a destination foodie place — instead this is where you come for a comfortable, relaxed, quiet conversation with your friends. You won’t have to scream at one another over a table trying to be heard, and the service will be absolutely top-notch, even better than Perbacco. Very simple food(menu on web is sample only; what you get will be very short): 4STARS, excellent quality ingredients and nice plating. But it’s very basic stuff; nothing fancy. You want top notch bar food, go to Barbacco and come out with your ears ringing. Comfort and service: 5STARS. These are upholstered leather cushioned club chairs with wheels, set around good-sized tables. The aisles are generous, not cramped. The service is worthy of the old Silks restaurant that used to be upstairs. All the waitstaff is properly trained and they know to keep an eye on how full the glasses are and when you’ve finished your meal. They do not rush you out or try to upsell you. Three of us started with soup. Spouse’s clam chowder was good, not exceptional. Same for the butternut squash soup two of us ordered; it could have used a better depth of flavor, but a swirl of black truffle oil skirted the edge and gave ours some oomph. The crème fraiche swirl wasn’t enough to do anything but show a pretty color contrast. Summary: Nice, with clean flavors, but nothing to get excited over. Best were: burger and fries, and the Crab Louie. The latter was not a traditional Louie, but instead a small pile of perfect Dungeness crabmeat atop butter lettuce, with sliced radishes/cucumber and hardboiled eggs. What made it rock was the housemade Louie dressing, given a little kick with chipotle chile. Fabulous! A perfect light entrée or one-person salad course. Crab salad sandwich on brioche was good. Turkey club, however, was disappointingly dry; a little overtoasted and not enough turkey. Desserts were good; custard was best. Coffee is Peet’s, French Press — and yes, they come around and pour you refills. Despite the café-style food, this is 5-star service all the way. You are forewarned; if you like the excitement of noisy crowds of diners and drinkers, where you can see and be seen, this café should stay off your list. But if you appreciate comfort, quiet, good-quality simple food to share with friends you want to spent several hours with — Brasserie S&P rates very high with us.

Brasserie S&P is a really good place to come for a drink – specifically a solid gin and tonic. The«Project G&T» menu and selection of gin cocktails is interesting and the drinks are well-crafted. While $ 13 for a gin and tonic is not cheap, it’s a decent size and the ingredients are really good. Now, for food, there’s a lot left to be desired. The menu is very small although it changes frequently, and it’s pretty expensive. I suggest the burger, which at $ 19 is generally the cheapest entrée and a good size. Otherwise, items are small and ok. But again, focus on the gin drinks. Those get 5 stars.

Went here with a friend who was working for a survey company that would tip our server $ 100 if they recommended their wines(as they were supposed to be trained to). Our server passed the test and it was nice to give her a $ 100 tip. The appetizers were decent and the wine delicious. I was impressed that everything was on tablet interface in terms of selection of wine. The ambiance is VERY hotel-ish though and felt very convention-like. For the price of everything I expected a little better atmosphere but I guess they don’t get much traffic; it was pretty dead on a Saturday night.

This place was only okay. We must have come on an off night because the service was very slow, and the champagne we ordered wasn’t available. My crispy salmon was yummy, though. The chairs are really comfortable, but there really isn’t any ambiance with the restaurant. I’ll give it a second chance because the burger looked yummy.

Don’t go here in a large group. So many things went wrong with our dinner. 1) Server lost our order and we all had to re-order again. 2) Our food took over an hour to arrive. Yes, an hour! 3) Portions vary widely between the appetizers 4) When we talked to the manager about the lateness of our food, he first threw the waitress under the bus! That is not service. Granted, we did get some food comped at the end, but the lack of leadership was worrisome. The food itself could have been better. To add insult to injury, whatever clamshell plastic packaging they used to hold my clam spaghetti broke open and clam soup dripped down my jeans later that night. Siiigh. However, if you want great gins, this is the place to go. Many of us enjoyed the gin flight. However, you don’t need to pay for a sit down dinner to enjoy that.

First off! Get whatever steak they are cooking here. I tried some of my friends and totally regret getting what I got. It was maybe the most amazing piece of meat I’ve ever put in my mouth HEYO. They also give you the drink menu on an iPad since there is so many and you can search by type of liquor or kind of drink. The chairs are super comfy too. Just a note!

All I do is give places four stars. I can’t help it. I think this is more a testament to the fact that I don’t often take myself to bad places, but that I also don’t take myself to fantastic places. I’m a four out of five kind of guy. I bet you can respect that. If not … I dunno. Go away, or something. I came here by myself even though I’m on vacation with my lady friend. She was busy. I had $ 50 credit to eat at a restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental and since this was what I could surmise as the only restaurant other than room service, I decided to try it out. Which was a good choice. I had a poached pear salad with the saltiest blue cheese I’ve ever had. I don’t eat a lot of blue cheese so maybe this was par for the blue cheese course. I can’t tell. It was salty though. Very salty. The pears were purple and were OK. Overall, the salad was somewhat meh. Descriptive adjectives. That’s what I’m known for. I had the red trout for dinner. Very oily. Hoping it was naturally that way from the fish. Ignoring any comments that will dispute this. The dish was great. I don’t know what a sunchoke is, and the only thing in the meal that I didn’t recognize was this awesome tasting thing that felt and tasted like a date. I hope that’s what a sunchoke is. It was great. Who cares, anyway. The main attraction was the drink menu. Or rather, the drink tablet. I didn’t bother to read other people’s reviews, so I don’t know if anyone else chided this, but uh … I don’t need a tablet to order my drink. It’s cool that I can make 150 different kinds of gin and tonics, but I don’t know what I’m doing in this realm. I just order a g+t. So, when the waiter came by and I said, I want a g+t but I’m gonna take you at your word, that may have been welcomed or derided. Either way, it resulted in one VERY good aged g+t and one fruity, cucumbery, not-so-good g+t. If you ever have the opportunity to try the aged g+t here(and that’s as far as I can describe it), go for it. It’s $ 16 and probably not worth it in the real world, but in my world … it was great. And worth it. Aged stuff. Does it every time. Like balsamic vinegar, parmesan, and high school equivalencies. All aged. Or a GED. Similarly spelled. PS Anthony Green is the best musician alive. Over and out.

Pretty good… but for the Mandarin and right in the heart of the financial district, I expected better. I would say this: 1) If you are with a good buddy or gal and it’s a power lunch and you have reservations and you don’t mind fancy looking sandwiches and diner-style plates in very nice and fancy décor, come here. 2) If you are with business clients and looking for a wonderful looking place BUTWITHALSO food that fitted the wonderful layout and décor, don’t come here. Bottom line: The food was great for fancy sandwiches and diner-style plates. You can say«fancy!» but that’s about it.

Brasserie S&P is a posh restaurant with reasonable prices inside the Mandarain Oriental Hotel. It’s a perfect place to meet up with longtime friends where the ambience is intimate, fun, sociable, and comfortable amid the busy downtown SF mess. The service is perfect and the entrees are unique and very good. I docked off a star on the dessert which was dry and not very creative or tastey. The salad, oysters appetizer, and main dish, a grass fed cow cheese burger was excellent as were the accompanying fries. For two, you’re looking at around $ 30/$ 50 person depending on whether or not you have alcohol. This place is a nice little secret in downtown SF that I’m glad to have found out about.
