Always fresh and good, friendly staff. The WiFi is a little fickle, but when it’s working you can even get a bit of work done during your coffee stop…

Best hazelnut latte I’ve ever had! I’m not from San Fransisco and I typically hate to go to Starbucks for coffee so I tried this spot on the recommendation of the hotel. What a great choice! You can come here for a quick breakfast before work or sit with a group of friends for breakfast or lunch. The menu is American/healthy/paleo type which I love. I ordered the Paleo breakfast which came with eggs that were made to my preference, a bed of salad, a fresh bowl of fruit, and fresh avocado slices. Perfect breakfast. I ordered a hazelnut coffee which they served in a cute mug with the foam decorations. I loved it so much I took a second one too go. They have oatmeal options, fruit parfait, salads to go and some good looking pasties I didn’t eat. The service was pretty quick and had no issue getting in and out in under 20 minutes. Great option!

On a typical foggy day in San Francisco, I found myself craving hot chocolate. I was walking down Kearney Street and noticed Bread and Cocoa, situated on the corner looking quaint yet welcoming. Inside the café, my eyes immediately honed in on the case, which displayed cookies that looked scrumptious and tempting, but I was not to be deterred! I came here for hot cocoa! The friendly waitress described their hot chocolate as «made with real, rich ganache.» I was sold! I placed my order and my drink arrived in a few minutes. I noticed the barista used Clover milk, which is two thumbs up in my book. My first sip was perfect! I decided it was the best hot cocoa I have ever had. Thanks to the barista for making a perfect cup of joy! I will definitely be back next time to try those scrumptious cookies.

Ive only came here once but i enjoyed it. Ordered half of a veggie sandwich which was really tasty and filling! Prices are pretty typical for this area in SF. Whole meal starting at about $ 9 and up. Its really cozy inside and they have this cool thing to get points! I overheard a woman asking to order a bowl of soup and it came out to be around $ 9!!! That sounds like a rip off if you ask me for JUST soup.

Ran into this super cute café and it was very homey! There was a lot of choices of soups which was nice on a cold day. :)

Went here for a quick bite while staying at the Galleria. Every time I tried to order a breakfast sandwich they were out of them. Perhaps you should be forthcoming of this information. I did enjoy the lavender mint latte. Went back the following day for redemption, though slightly better, at the end of the day everything is pre maid and slightly over priced.

Meh. Basic deli /bakery. There are much better places around union square. Food quality is minimal and pre– prepared. Overall — very underwhelming for what looked like a cute lunch resultant. Went in around 2:30 for lunch — they changed the menu time hours, so instead of the«lunch» menu — it was«late afternoon», which means no sandwiches. Sad day. Settled for soup that was just«meh». Pastries looked good, so I would try those if I ever stopped in(but based on location, there’s tons of better places around). Also — asked about one of the pre-made sandwiches in the cold case. Guy at register told me the name«the fog». Asked what it contained and he had no idea /couldn’t tell me. So, not cool. Know your menu dude, there’s like 5 things on it. *sigh*

I want to like Bread & Cocoa. It looks locally owned, cozy, and inviting. That’s where the two stars come from… The prices are a shock($ 6 for a piece of quiche… close-by café Bio sells quiche for $ 3) and their food is not near worth the price. I’m really disappointed in my vegetable frittata. Maybe I’m the fool for ordering it at lunch(though it was advertised as a lunch meal). This is just generally spongy and not tasteful at all. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here, or recommending it to fellow Unilocalers.

Open early, close to my office, friendly staff, tasty lattes. I’m a fan! I recommend the Lavender & Mint Latte(4.10) if you’re looking for a little treat. They have a number of baked goods by the register that are way too tempting. [TIP] check in on Unilocal and you can get a cookie for 0.25 with a $ 5 purchase!

They charge extra for sit in without any warning. A $ 9.50 sandwich suddenly becomes $ 12.00. Very deceptive.

Stopped by after a visit to the nearby embassy. Coffee was good, tea was perfect! The pastries are yummy we decided on the apricot scone, tart and delicious. The location spacious and clean. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Thumbs up!

I love this place. The breakfast frittata is really good. Also, their breakfast sandwiches and chocolate chip walnut cookie looks amazing. My partner got the Sonoma breakfast sandwich on focaccia and I have to say I was a little jealous. I do wish their drinks were served hotter and I noticed there seems to be a drink size discrepancy between the to go cups and the mugs. However, I will for sure come back.

The worst lunch experience I’ve had. There was a sign outside the door with a lunch special offer. I thought that’ll do nicely and went in and asked for the special. The guy at the register paused for a second and then said $ 12(special was $ 9.50). I asked about the price and pointed to another sign for the special on the wall about 18 inches from his head. He then called over another man who whispered some stuff and they eventually took the sign down and said it was wrong. Long story short I eventually got my $ 12 lunch(after they forgot my order!!!) and headed out. I turned around for one last look as I swore I was never going back. Lo and behold they were putting the sign back up on the wall… and laughing about it. 1) if you have a special on the board you give it to the customer 2) you apologize and make effin sure they get their food 3) you don’t put the«wrong» sign back up as the customer is walking out the door

Looking for an afternoon pick me up — I stopped in after an afternoon of speed walking around the area. I checked in and was prompted that I received a check in offer — $ 0.25 cookie — score! It was around 4pm on a Thursday and from patrons grabbing a «to-go» drink to those«hanging out»(free wi-fi) the place was humming. I was only there for an iced coffee(and a cookie :)) — but it looked like a great place to sit and people watch those coming and go on Sutter Street(Bread and Cocoa is located on a bustling corner) or even stopping in for some grub. Even though it was later in the day — there were still a variety of sandwiches and soups for purchase and if you are not in the mood for coffee/tea — toward the back of the store is an entrance to the Jamba Juice next door. There were no patrons ahead of me but the staff was busy doing something(although I have no clue what) — after clearing my throat I was assisted and my iced coffee promptly delivered. My coffee was flavorful and strong — a bit expensive for a large but that’s city living for you. In the haste of getting my buzz(and due to the staff hurrying off to do «something») — I was not given my cookie(the horror) — but this was quickly rectified(only after flagging down a staff member) and soon enough a lavender vanilla oatmeal cookie was in my hands. It was a bit overdone and stale but along with the coffee — it was quickly consumed. I hung out for a little while and then headed back to my hotel — well caffeinated and on a bit of a sugar high. Definately a «happy hour» in my book!

Burnt organic roasted coffee What does organic really mean anyway? That the beans were grown organically? Roasted organically? Or served organically? Either way, I wanted to give it a try at Bread and Cocoa and I was quite disappointed. The first sip instantly dried up my tongue and left a residue type feeling in the back of it. It tasted and smelled like it was burnt and I was not a fan of it. I also had a blueberry Danish which I thought was amazing but could’ve been better warm. It’s a big Danish maybe the size of my palm. The cheesy center was surrounded by an inch of flaky crust that was soft and light. The cheesy center was moist and soft and tasted like I bit into a combination of butter and cream cheese… But mostly cream cheese. The taste of blueberry was irrelevant. I gave my coffee another couple of sips in between the bites of Danish and it was better… But still taste burnt. I tossed it out before I even reached half of it :(

I’ve walked by Bread & Cocoa so many times on the way to other lunch spots along Kearny. This past Monday, I found myself without my usual lunch buddy, so I decided to walk down Kearny to see what the street had to offer. Finally decided to walk into Bread & Cocoa. I picked the Lunch special($ 9.50), which includes half of any sandwich with tomato soup or five pepper steak chili. I chose the Chicken pesto sandwich: chicken breast, provolone, sweet roasted tomato, basil pesto on focaccia and Creamy tomato soup: tomatoes, fresh basil, chicken stock and cream. The chicken pesto was pretty good. Lots of pesto and cheese. A little oily due to the focaccia, but since I only had a half sandwich, it wasn’t too bad. The creamy tomato was a little disappointing. It wasn’t creamy at all. More of a broth like consistency. I did like the flavor though. Just the texture of the soup was a little too runny. I can say I finally checked out Bread & Cocoa. I can’t say much for their coffee and pastries since I haven’t tried them, but I probably won’t be back for their lunch menu. Everything was just your average lunch fare.

Netter Coffeeshop gleich neben meinem Hotel.
