Buona Notte Capps Corner after 50 years in business We were happy that the owners Tom and his wife used our photo of our family standing outside Capps as their«signature» photo. Our family enjoyed many meals and we became a mainstay for the day after Christmas to enjoy their wonderful Italian food after having a traditional American Christmas dinner. We are so sorry that the famous landmark in North Beach is closing but will cherish all the great memories of our large family gathering there!

I had never been to Capp’s before but my mother-in-law had been here over the years and we wanted to check it out before the rumors of it shutting down came to fruition. It’s exactly the type of place you expect in North Beach. Old school interior with a waitress that has been working there for years. The dinners are served family style with a bowl of minestone soup and salad. Make sure not to fill up too much though as you could make those two a meal in and of itself. I got the chicken parmigiana and it was not that great but it’s hard not to like chicken and cheese. Sad to see this place go away as it’s had such a long history in SF.

CAPP’S CORNER is an old school, family style Italian establishment that’s been a staple in the neighborhood since 1963. I hadn’t been here in like 5 years but when we found out they are closing their doors this month, we HAD to return. Not much has changed… still lots of food & friendly servers. We started with a Cocktail each. I had a Moscow Mule, my cousin had a Cosmopolitan. They served us Italian bread immediately which was great, dipping in olive oil. We started with a cup of Minestrone soup, it was Delish! Then a green salad, with lots of kidney beans, beets & garbonzos which is exactly my favorite kind of salad w/a vinergerette. For my main I had the Calamari Dore Steak w/lemon butter and capers. Fabulous! ! My cousin had the Veal Milanese, which was sauted breaded veal. For dessert, we barely had room for spomoni ice cream. A GREAT meal. Very affordable. Try to visit before they close!
