These guys are the real deal. They expertly recommended frames for my artwork and took a lot of care to find just the right combination of mat and frames to really set off the pieces. They did such a good job that the artwork looks completely different in a great way– the new frames make the prints come alive. Thanks for a job well done– I would recommend their craftsmanship to everyone.

I was in town on business and needed a last minute photo framed as a retirement gift to be presented during our off site. Someone recommended Capricorn Framing. I called, told them what we needed and they gave us excellent recommendations for a frame and mat based on the information we gave over the phone. They were even able to cut the mat and put together the frame just using the dimensions without seeing the photo. They went above and beyond on this rush job and it looked absolutely flawless. On top of all of that, Lloyd was professional, friendly and fun to work with. He worked miracles on my project, so anything you give him is in excellent hands!

This is a solid neighborhood business that I discovered a few years ago. They stretched and framed three canvasses for me. One of the pieces wouldn’t stretch perfectly and resulted in some slight creasing due to the fact that the material was not, as we learned, canvass, but something more akin to a tack cloth. The owners, Keith and Lloyd, went out of their way to restretch it despite the constraints of the material, without any additional charges for their efforts. This occurred many months after the original work was done as I was out of town for work. However, they remembered me and honored their promise to do the restretching. I have since given them a little more business. They are friendly, personable and highly professional and, from my own experience, deliver high quality work. I trust their artistic recommendations and know that my pieces of art are in good hands. I have found their prices to be highly competitive, and they’ve always worked with me thoughtfully to find a framing option that suits my budget. Their service is personalized and their follow up is excellent in stark contrast to the cold, impersonal experience of chain-store framers. The fact that it’s a local neighborhood business that I’m happy to support is the icing on the cake. As a repeat customer, I would highly recommend Capricorn.

Capricorn Framing offers solid craftsmanship, flawless execution and an elevated taste level that I have not found with other framing services. Lloyd and Keith helped me frame my original artwork for an art show and I was extremely pleased with the results! I also have several pieces in my home that were expertly framed by them which I enjoy on a daily basis. I highly recommend them for all of your framing needs.

Fantastic service and work. The boys did a terrific job with my request: and came by 3 months later to help us hang the piece. Very impressive service.

Yes, this business is «Woohoo, as good as it gets». As an artist myself, I wouldn’t take a cherished piece of artwork anywhere else for framing. These guys are professional, state of the art, fair, and provide an aesthetic guidance that’s tremendously helpful. I only wish I could give them six stars.

There is a new shop in the hood — and it looks nice. I was strolling down Geary on the way back from the Post Office and noticed this nice looking shop tucked in between Internos(a great wine bar) and Hisago(a great Japanese restaurant). Well, technically there is a salon between Internos and Capricorn, but let’s not split hairs. I popped in for a moment since I tend to do quite a bit of framing. I do most myself, but for really special projects I go to a professional. Like the present which I recently bought for my SO — a special … wait, better not say it here since she doesn’t have it yet. Anyway, they were quite friendly, have nice window displays, and a good selection of products. I am happy to see some new businesses in the area. I thought they were a new shop but when I looked them up on good-olé Unilocal I realized that they had been around for a bit, just in a new location. So to Capricorn — «Welcome to the area». To all my fellow Unilocalers — «give these folks some love and business, lets support the local folks where we can.» PS — something I hadn’t noticed before, Google Maps street view doesn’t cover this block on Geary. It has a gap between Cook and Parker. Interesting.

There are framers and there are artists and if you are lucky you have worked with Lloyd at Capricorn Framing because he embodies both and beyond. The place is magical and the frames are beautiful. I hope one day to have all of my art framed by this place because the work that Lloyd has done with two of my pieces accentuates my art and makes them look masterful. The place and people have character and care. Never will I find myself in another framing store again. If you are looking for a framing store that will turn your walls into works of art then you have found the right place. Lloyd’s vision and artistry created the perfect pieces for some of my precious art and I am lucky to have found him. Not only was there special attention to care and detail but there was authenticity in workmanship and personhood. Thank you Lloyd and thank you Capricorn Framing for your special talents and beautiful work!

I cannot praise Capricorn Framing enough. They have framed several valuable pieces for me and even helped me create a very large, 9′ v 4′ gilded mirror, it is stunning to put it mildly. They also researched an old painting my mother had given me and through their contacts found that it was by a known artist and had value. They arranged to have the painting restored before we hung it. The painting is so charming now, and I have its history, too boot.

Once again, astonished! Lloyd framed 2 silk screen pieces that I was at a loss as to how and what moulding. Lloyd recommended to display them together in one frame. They look Great! Thanks again to Capricorn Framing and Lloyd’s expertise.

Wow! Capricorn Framing is the best! I called them this morning, asking if they could help me with a back board on my garage-sale-found-frame. They told me to come over at noon, when they open. And so I did. Not only did they help me with the back board, they also helped to make it bathroom-proof, painted the bits of the frame where the color had gone and made the frame ready to hang. It’s great if somebody is so friendly and helps you to get the amazing result you were looking for. Big ‘Thank you’ and I’ll sure be back!

Just got 3 pieces back from Capricorn and couldn’t be happier. The owner was very patient and helpful selecting just the right frame for each piece — three very different pieces. Great care and attention was present all the way through, and the service is really excellent. The storefront is in a cozy Victorian, and there was easy street parking both times I went. I thought the pricing was also reasonable for a better-than-the-mall frame store.

I was never a big«framer» — always took the(not-as-)cheap(–as-you-think-it’s-gonna-be) route at a place that might rhyme with Shmaron Shmothers. In any case, my wife and I had something very special we needed framed and which we knew we didn’t want to skimp on. Found Capricorn — a funny location I might add… it’s in a beautiful Victorian right in the midst of a residential section of Divisadero… but which makes it all the cooler — and came out the other end with a phenomenally framed piece of art. The owner was not only knowledgeable and easy going, but found the great balance between letting us feel like we were choosing along with offering his expert advice, which we gladly accepted. I think the only«up sell» he made on us was the museum quality no-glare glass, but which we were ultimately very glad we got — you look at your frame and would SWEAR there’s no glass there and what we were framing we didn’t want to let it fade, etc. So not an up sell I guess but a good suggestion. Anyways, the crowning jewel of our experience was when we stopped by 3 ½ years later to get a replacement hook which we bent when we moved the frame. The owner not only remembered us AND our art piece, but remembered our names and what we did for a living. Even if he keeps that info in a database on his computer, the fact that he listens well enough when he’s with you to then input it, and the fact that he thinks to even keep such a system, is reflective of the thoughtful — and extremely high quality — nature of the work he does. If you’re trying to go cheap, don’t go to Capricorn. But if you want to do justice to whatever it is you’re framing, I doubt you’ll find better out there… they’re pretty awesome.

I just got back my 7 pieces(I did 2 medium/big and 5 vinyl sized) and they are beautiful! Very professional and sturdy. I’ll go back once I get more pieces that I have to get framed. If you want quality(and free delivery) give these guys a call, very nice service and discounts to locals and artists. Recommended!
