Cumaica

Ordered a bagel and coffee and the person who made my bagel finished cleaning and then made my bagel without washing her hands. I informed the guy who appeared to be the manager and requested that I receive a refund for the bagel. I wasn’t rude or petty, however when he brought me my money, he said in a very sarcastic tone, and using hand quotes, «I hope it’s clean enough for you». He walked away without an opportunity to engage which is probably better since anything I would have said would have been foul. The health department should keep an eye on this place, and the owner should train their people on the practices of cleanliness, and professional standards of customer service. FYI — this occurred at 10am on 6÷8÷16. I will not return.

Although the employees are very nice, its very hit and miss, mostly miss. The coffee is good but be aware of portions. I order a large and always get half cup coffee and rest is unnecessary foam. I feel jipped for what I paid for. Tried their pre-​made sandwiches and pasta, had really bad stomach aches after everything. Bagels are always OLD, barely toasted. Always come here for coffee because its the only thing open near work. Will have to check my coffee portions from now on…

This place is not like it used to be service wise. The baristas are always talking to each othere while taking orders and seem to no longer know how to make a hot drink and the cold ones seem to be super watered down. The Morning Glory bread is the only thing I will get there now (if I go, but I dont see me going there anytime soon).

The only thing this place has going for it is that it is the only place open before 8am in the area.
The bagel I got this morning tasted funny. It took me a few bites to realize that the taste was MOLD, lightly toasted.
A few months ago when I came in, I got a Mexican mocha made with spoiled milk.
Do they intentionally buy expired food because it’s cheaper, or do they try to serve their expiring food to make ends meet? Either way, I’ll get my breakfast elsewhere.

This is a hit and miss the service is ok usually unless you complain about something. They get all rude and speak Spanish s**t about you.

Popped into Cumaica on a walk back from the Vogue recently. It’s very conveniently located at the corner of Divis and California, and has ample seating (mostly inside, but some out.)
Good tea selection (Twinings, Mighty Leaf) and many non-​dairy milks to choose from. Though it’s becoming more common, it’s still pleasant to find that you have the option of soy, almond, or coconut.
They had many treats, different bars, pastry-​type things, etc. However, it didn’t appear that any were vegan. Would have loved to have a vegan muffin or donut to go with my tea.
Nonetheless, I’ll be back for more next time I’m in the area and need a pick me up.

It pains me to say that the very nice people who work here make terrible coffee. The $ 4.25 coconut milk latte I had tasted burnt and wasn’t even mediocre.

Coffee was decent and at a fair price and had adequate seating. The wifi speed was slow for the area though so just a heads up if you are coming here to do work.

This place gets the job done in regards to me needing a place to get some work done. And they have a decent acai smoothie.

San Franciscans love supporting local businesses.
Cumaica has three other outposts, but this one excels in its friendly customer service and for offering the Pac Heights crowd a decent breakfast option without the long waits at Wild Hare or B patisserie across the street.
You can depend on healthy options for brekkie like a fruit cup or yogurt with granola. If your man prefers a more filling option, then a traditional bagel with cream cheese. For lunch, some salads to go and tasty tuna sandwiches fit the bill. I like the iced decaf americano and he loves the freshly squeezed OJ. And when winter time comes, the Mexican hot chocolate soothes your soul.
If you’re not in the mood for long waits at brunch or the rowdy football Sunday crowd, head over to Cumaica for a coffee and bagel and enjoy your breakfast in peace.

This is the latest addition to the small local coffee chain called Cumaica. The store has a nice Latin American vibe to it. The house coffee is very distinct — bold and flavorful. If you come here just for the coffee, definitely a good choice and a nice change from Starbucks just two blocks down.
Cumaica’s food selection also can compete: fruit yogurt, sandwiches, bagels, salads, pastries. Not really inexpensive ($ 8 for a sandwich, $ 4 for the bagel, $ 7 salad) but tasty and filling (their tuna sandwich lasts me for a day).
Plenty of seating, wifi, and large windows facing the busy corner of California and Divis. Nice hangout spot in Pac Heights.

Good food and mediocre coffee. I also just watched an employee drop a ton of cups on the floor and put them back. Gross.

I love Cumaica. I’ve been frequenting them for I don’t know how many years. The staff has the sweetest personalities. They patiently allow me to practice my Spanglish and don’t laugh at me. They know how to make a proper coffee drink — on par w/​Peets but w/​o the stuck up yuppie patron vibe. And it’s definitely not the piss water you get at Starbucks. Suffice it say, I’m a patron for life. They also have free wifi for any customers. I think all the doctors who I see frequenting there in the wee hours of the morning go there for the same reason I do — they’re simply the best.

Good coffee, good food, good service, with a pleasant environment and plenty of seating. Not a lot of parking.
I discovered this place because I had some time to kill between appointments and wanted a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. I’m glad I discovered this place, but I don’t think I’ll be running back here anytime soon.

I used to go to Peets in Laurel Village every morning for coffee and a scone, love their dark roast coffee. But I stopped after several instances where the staff just seemed like they didn’t want to help me. Honestly I would be the only one there, three people working and it was pulling teeth for them to help. This was after always being polite, always leaving a good tip, and having a super simple order every morning.
So I started looking for an alternative, and I am very happy with Cumaica in California and Divisadero. Coffee is equally strong (the most important thing at 6 AM) staff is super friendly, happy, and are on top of things. They understand their customers have limited time before work.
They have a better selection of edibles, the same scones and pastries as well as breakfast bagels, fresh OJ, sandwiches, and such.
The only drawback is less parking, but I am so glad to have made the switch.

This place is… Okay. I came here with a friend to get some work done, and it was great for that. The previous people occupying tables near us were a bit messy, but the very nice staff even that out for me.
I didn’t have coffee, but did have a piece of vegetarian focaccia, which was good. This was after I was disappointed to discover that they don’t actually make food to order — only what’s left on the shelves is available. Blah.

Service was very friendly but a bit slow. The chicken pesto panini was excellent and good value for the money. The interior could use more seating and a fresh coat of paint.

Plenty of seating with an equally plentiful number of patrons. Friendlyish staff (they have good customer service but smile through gritted teeth. Good coffee — I get a strong-​but-​not-​anxiety-​producing Americano every time. Free wifi. Upbeat music that isn’t blaring. All-​in-​all, it’s a surprising corner treat in a neighborhood where the opposing option is the gritty Starbucks down the street.

It’s convenient and they have a wide variety of baked goods. They use a chai sweetened blend rather than real chai tea and really a $ 1 for butter on a bagel? That must be some really amazing butter. More homey than Starbucks but same quality.

The cashier/​barista was super sweet. The wifi went down and, hankering to finish an assignment, I asked her if she could reset it. She kindly obliged. The fact that she didn’t give me smack even though the café was near closing is impressive.
They serve green tea lattes (!). Those are a special, nostalgic treat for me and I was pleasantly surprised to find them here.

Words can not describe the excitement I felt when i realized there was a Cumaica here, just around the corner from my friend’s work. Meaning, I get AMAZING coffee whenever I drive the carpool. Love the different roasts they offer, their service and the space.

I got regular coffee which tasted burned, fruit cup that was pretty good, and apple oats pastry that was extremely dry and tasteless. Service was not the best. I felt the ladies working there had an attitude towards most of the customers. I did like the space of the café though. It is big, plenty of seating and outlets for laptop.

I love this place, service and food are great! Also like the people who works there, they are always happy and friendly!!!

I don’t come here for the coffee, which (judging by the other reviews) is probably the reason I’m rating it so highly. I come here when I need a comfy place to work and I’m craving something sugary. If you come here after 5pm, they have a stack of pastries that are buy 1 get 1 free. Thanks for singlehandedly expanding my waistline, Cumaica. I don’t even care though, because I still feel like I got a good deal. Also, the people working there are some of the nicest servers and baristas I’ve met and if you come there often enough (ahem) they remember you by name.

Eh… I really want to like this place because they have a nice selection of food but they burn their espresso (most of the time). I can’t really get behind a coffee shop that burns espresso.
However, I do like all their bagels and their tuna salad is pretty fantastic for coming out of a plastic box.
If you drink coffee you will not be offended but for all your Americano drinkers, I would try another spot

I ordered the iced café mocha and was not expecting it to come sweetened. It was actually pretty good. There were sugery chocolate bits at the bottom, which made me apprehensive at first but became something I quite enjoyed. Still, I ordered a coffee and I didn’t taste any coffee at all. It was really just iced chocolate milk to me. Not much to say about the interior. There was plenty of seating, but the space is big so it didn’t feel cozy. Outside there was one table which was were the mister and I sat to finish our coffee. The whole place just seemed a little run down to me.
