Deeeelicious! I’m such a sucker for good apps and good cocktails. An easy, casual place to just hang and enjoy yourself.

We come here weekly. The food is amazing and very well priced. Hands down the best pizza in the marina. The Brussels sprouts when in season are a must get. You can get delivery from postmates and that’s worth it. The scene is loud and not the best for groups. Two or four people is fine but expect to wait at least an hour Thursday through Sunday night. Highly recommend for the food alone.

I had a small winter chicories salad($ 7) and an eggplant caponatina with burrata($ 9). Both were good but unmemorable. The Sunday brunch crowd seemed to empty out as we got here at around 1pm, so we had no problem getting seats for a large group. They don’t seat partial parties here though. The restaurant seemed kid-friendly.

My good friend *highly* recommended this place when I came up to visit… and by highly, I mean he would not stop sending me pictures of their food until we actually sat down and ate. And now, I ask him if we can stop by Delarosa any time I’m up in SF. My mouth is watering as I write this. There’s always a little bit of wait at this small restaurant in the Marina, unless you’ve made a reservation for parties of 6 and more. There’s a wait? No problem, just walk down the block to any other bar for a quick drink and they’ll text you when the table is ready. Once inside, prepare for a cozy experience. It’s dimly lit with orange and red tones throughout. On a Friday/Saturday night, it can feel a little crowded but not in a negative way. I don’t know if my friends are just super loud but we’ve always been able to carry out the conversation. All the tables are communal but it’s never felt weird sitting next to strangers. I’ve only gone with groups though so I wonder if it’s a different experience with just two people. Now what to get? I recommend sharing food family-style as the portions are more like a regular meal(not Olive Garden sized) and you can taste a little bit of everything. Things I’ve tasted: — Cocktails: 5 stars (Every cocktail I’ve had was fantastic; a good kick and never too sweet) — Kale salad: 3 stars (Good but nothing exciting) — Arugula salad: 4 stars (Fresh Parmesan cheese and light dressing… yummmm) — Calamari: 3 stars (good but also not the best I’ve had) — Pizza: 5 stars (Sausage fennel, get in my belly. Prosciutto and spinach, yes pleeeease. So. good. And I’m really picky about pizza. I mean, how«fancy» can pizza be??? But Delarosa has made me a believer) — Mussels: 5 stars (Can I give it more stars? The mussels were cooked perfectly… but the savory sauce steals the show. Our whole table was asking for more bread while also using their pizza crusts to dip in the leftover sauce… need I say more?) — Meatballs: 5 stars (You get two huge, tasty, flavorful meatballs in marinara sauce… I wish I could take these back home.) — Pappardelle Napoletana: 4 stars (I’ve never had dish before but I will definitely have it again. Love the texture of the flat noodles and the sauce it was swimming in… yum yum yum.) The food came rolling out in waves; it felt like we were eating a tapas bar which I really loved. Ah, if only I could find an Italian place like this in San Diego…

First of all understand 2 things I usually give 4 stars now instead of 5 so they post up, Second I don’t leave negative reviews, I believe food is art and who I’m I to tell the chef he doesn’t know how to build flavors or layers. With that said here we go: décor is great, it’s a very casual feel. Food is great we didn’t have any issues. We had(a lot I know) the olives, meatballs, fried polenta, and 2 pasta dishes and the Coppa Mocha. Price are really fare but again I’m a chef and restaurant owner so I don’t look as prices as much as others do. When I wrote the review they had 4 stars if your in the area I would say come it it shouldn’t disappoint.

My favorite restaurant in the Marina! The pizza here is crispy and delicious! I’ve tried a few kinds and have never been let down but my favorites include the Prosciutto truffle with white sauce(which is the latest seasonal) and the regular sausage pizza. The brussel sprouts are super NOM and the burrata bruschetta is sweet and unexpected. Great atmosphere that makes this a nice spot for a date, drinks with friends or an informal business meeting. The staff is awesome. They have a pretty decent beer selection and the seating encourages conversation with your neighbor as some of the tables can be shared as well as the bar. Street parking is metered, and it is in a fun area with lots to do as it is next to a Walgreens, a movie theater and Dorian if you are looking for some action after dinner. You can even walk over to the actual Marina from here as it is not too far.

Delarosa actually isn’t bad, even though the fact that it’s in the Marina and is jammed full of Marina types ought to give you pause. First, prices are fairly decent, even after taking into account the fact that the portion sizes are relatively modest here(read: realistically sized and not, say, 5 times your recommended daily caloric intake). But what’s most important is the food which, surprisingly for the Marina, is chock full of substance. Antipasti, salads, and fritti are all on point, and pasta dishes like the maccheroncini pomodoro with chicken parmigiana al forno serve as immensely satisfying comfort food that feels just right going down, without leaving the feeling of heaviness that you’d get at quantity-over-quality Italian joints. If you still have any room left at this point, try splitting a pizza with your group. Despite the fact that this place can get quite busy, service manages to be friendly, personal, and efficient. Overall, Delarosa is so good that I’m tempted to say that the Marina doesn’t deserve a place like this.

I had a poor experience at Delarosa and the management team here at Delarosa was on top of it and corrected everything. We had a wonderful evening last night at Delarosa with our siblings and are looking forward to our next visit back as we tried a few new dishes that will be our new favorites. Items we recommend: Meatballs Buratta bruschetta Arugula salad Coppa pizza(add buratta) and the new addition– it was a white pizza with mushrooms on it. Don’t know the name but I think it’s teh Funghi Misti. Delarosa has excellent cocktails and a casual atmosphere. It’s a great spot for either a happy hour and apps after work or a dinner with friends during the week.

If you want cafeteria type seating, your jacket stepped on and to feel like you’re not a good enough customer for your server(?!) then come to Delarosa! Our server gave off annoyed vibes after we asked questions about the menu, like he had some other place to be(isn’t this his job?) Thanks Omar ! He promptly returned to the other patrons on our shared table to ask how they were doing and neglected to follow up with us until we were sitting there staring at each other, hoping the experience would end. Pasta is a great portion for a kid, the pizza was meh and the combination gave us all heartburn. When giving us the cheque I put down my glass to reach for it and clanked it on all the other things on our tiny part of the table, our server didn’t even take the time to clear it! Service does not end when the cheque comes! but I guess at Delarosa it never starts. Turned to get up and leave and accidentally stepped on a very nice suit jacket of the poor man behind me. No place for your coats, except dragging on the floor and being sat on. My friend’s review: more pasta, keep the pizza the same, and FIREEVERYONE except the chefs Peace!

Great friendly service + quick delivery of the food + delicious food!!! I came here with my friend and we decided to sit at the bar since it was easier to hold a convo there instead of being squished at a long table between other parties. The bartender was very nice and attentive. He made sure to check in on us to see if we were ready to order drinks and food. We got the meatballs, kale ceaser salad and the prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella pizza. All were fantastic. The meatballs are a must try and a signature here. My friend recommended them and they were delicious and so flavorful. The meatballs went really well with the sauce but wasn’t dry without it. The salad and pizza were both really good as well! I really liked this place and it is perfect to grab a bite to eat and a couple drinks as well! I will definitely be back next time I’m in the city!

5 Stars for Customer Service! After posting my review I was contacted immediately the next day with an apology for our server the night before. Once again, this incident was not something that would make me not want to come back to Delarosa at all but it’s always nice to hear from management and see how serious they take these reviews. I received a very sincere apology from a different manager than the one who originally contacted me. He was well aware of the situation and deeply apologized, which really was not necessary. I was told that the portions are meant to be small as they are tapas. The recipes are also authentic from an employees grandma. I was also given a gift card to encourage me to return. I was hugely impressed by this act of generosity and believe that Delarosa has great leaders. I would recommend to a friend based on how they handled this situation.

Delicious food, trendy atmosphere. I’ve been here twice,(the one on Chestnut in the marina). Once with just one other person(fast seating) and once with a group of 7. The latter visit took 1 – 1.5 hours to get a seat. They take your number and text you updates though, so you can go to a bar or wander the area while you wait. No reservations. The seating is communal, so you’ll be sharing your long table and bench with other parties. The lighting is fairly dim inside so it works for a date night if you want to keep it casual. There’s also bar seating. I’ve always ordered family style, a few small plates, appetizers, and pizza to share with the group. Highlights of the food include the margherita pizza(thin crust), and the broccolini bruschetta. Unless you like meaty sauce, I would avoid the pappardelle. The food is prepared quickly so the wait times are minimal once you’re seated. Great ambience and affordable food. Alcohol is fairly expensive, and there’s no full bar, but the food makes it worth it.

Delarosa delivers excellent Roman(not Neapolitan :) style thin crust pizza, that can easily rival delfina and tony’s. An extra star for making burrata a prominent part of the menu. Throw in some quality, artfully designed, cocktails and what you have is very winning combo in the middle of the marina. The main downside is the prices — certainly ok in the context of SF but that doesnt make it any more ‘reasonable’. Highly recommend.

This review is solely based on a couple apps and drinks. Sat at the bar for a quick shopping reprieve. The bar was busy and full of locals whom the bartender was very friendly with. He was a bit more aloof with us & didn’t give us the same friendly attention. Onto the food: Meatballs — 4 stars for flavor; 3 stars for texture. They were dense and snapped like a sausage rather than being tender and moist. They had a really good flavor and perfect seasoning though so it was an enjoyable dish. They were topped with a chunky tomato marinara and served with 2 pieces of grilled crusty bread. Saffron arancini — 4 stars. 4 small saffron risotto balls stuffed with cheese. They were cooked perfectly and also seasoned well. The risotto itself was cooked to the perfect texture and the cheese was gooey. It was served with an aioli, but I preferred them with the marinara from the meatball dish. Cocktails: 4 stars overall Ital75 is their take on a French 75 using added Aperol to make it Italian. It is one of their house cocktails with gin, Aperol, prosecco and grapefruit Paloma — very good rendition of it without having too much soda water and utilizing fresh grapefruit The setting is modern and simple. I would stop in again if I was in the neighborhood and needed a cocktail but not a destination place for me.

I had lunch at Delarosa with a few friends over the summer. It was a nice afternoon so we enjoyed our meal outside. My friend and I shared the prosciutto di parma, arugula, mozz pizza and the Funghi Misti pizza. Both pizzas were cooked well, had a nice thin crust and arrived quickly, especially considering how crowded they were that Sunday afternoon! To our surprise, we both liked the Funghi pizza more. The prosciutto was extremely salty(I know, it is supposed to be salty!) but it over powered the rest of the pie. Our two other friends had sandwiches and were happy with their selections. They also had a nice beer list with some local craft selections.

Best Italian places I’ve ever tried!!! Their Roman style pizza was a hit! It’s a little bit thicker than thin-crust with savory taste. We got clam pizza! Love having seafood on my pizza!!! A little bit spicy though… Tiramisu was awesome too!!! The rum flavored well with the rich espresso taste!!! Loved it!!! The pasta taste awesome too! We got the one with eggplant and basil in it! The pasta was boiled to the right point, neither too hard/dry nor sloppy! Will definitely come back again!!!

I hardly venture out into the Marina neighborhood, so when my friend’s birthday brunch was planned at Delarosa, I made sure to take a good look around. And wow, what a lively and fun neighborhood! They don’t take reservations, so make sure you show up early to avoid waiting for days! I was glad we were one of the first people in the door so I could snap some photos! The interior design of Delarosa is so pleasing to the eye. Besides bar seating and a few 2 seated tables, most of the table arrangements are communal. — Burrata bruschetta with hazelnut and honey($ 7 — 2 pieces/order): oh my goodness, what a dish! They definitely don’t skimp on all the goodies on top of the bread. — Meatballs in spicy marinara($ 8 — 2 pieces/order): huge balls of deliciousness! But don’t be fooled by the item’s description because it is not spicy at all. — Kale and romaine caesar with croutons and pecorino($ 7⁄11): normally not a huge kale fan, but this salad was decent. — Brussels sprouts with caper aioli($ 8): a little on the saltier side, but good appetizer to much on. — Pumpkin ravioli with brown butter, sage, and balsamic($ 11 — 3 pieces/order): I don’t eat pumpkin much, but the flavor wasn’t too overpowering so eating one was good enough for me. Not sure I would order this for just myself though! — Pizza carbonara($ 15): with pancetta, cream, provolone, mozzarella, two eggs, and cracked black pepper. So freaking good! — Pizza with sausages and egg($ 16): with potato, mozzarella, spicy fennel sausage, and two eggs. The sausages are huge. Pizza always tastes better with lots of meat and eggs! The portions of the dishes aren’t that big, so they recommend getting a bunch of dishes to share with your party. Lunch came out to be $ 42/person with tip and tax… which is quite steep, but hey, it was a celebration so it’s fine to go crazy! Good to know: they just opened a second location in downtown, which is a lot easier for me to get to! I’ll be dropping by for their burrata bruschetta!

Dinner on Chestnut is usually a scene, but it’s a lively and inviting one at Delarosa. The atmosphere at this Italian restaurant is one of my favorites. Long shared tables encourage loud chatter and plenty of orders of their delicious pizza. It’s great for groups, but come early to slip your name in if your party isn’t six or more people. There are no reservations for smaller groups, but it’s worth the wait. The plates are perfect for sharing and some of my favorites include the the burrata bruschetta, beet salad, and the classic margarita pizza. The house-made donuts for dessert are also delish! The waiters are wonderful and always accommodating, even when a plate is missed in the busyness of it all. There’s a great drink selection with reasonably priced wine and fun cocktail as well. Great spot for dinner any day of the week. Perfect choice for a group outing.

Every time walking on chestnut on a weekend, this place is usually packed with tons of people. Finally off on a weekday, I decided to try it! We started off our lunch by having some Dungeness Crab Arancini(4 piece) which was absolutely delicious! Great small portions for an appetizer. The servers were very nice, attentive and constantly filling our glasses of water whenever they reached halfway. I ordered a Spicy Italian Sausage Pizza and it tasted great. The marinara was amazing and the cheese was just right. The sausage was perfect! However, I didn’t enjoy with how soggy the pizza was. Perhaps a little longer on the brick to give it some crunch and some stability while eating the pizza. I had to use a plate and use my fork and knife because of how much it kept spilling. Even a half fold wasnt enough to stop it from falling. Overall, great spot for lunch! Not too sure if it would be worth waiting more than an hour for this place. Make sure to come when it’s not too busy :)

I feel stressed eating here. There’s a throng of people with girls in their lulus and guys in their polo shirts waiting outside. Some with kids in tow. There are a dozen shops for perusing to pass time until you get a text from the host when your table is ready. And if you’re lucky, you’ll have a two seater or at most a 4 topper. BUT, if you get seated at the communal table on a high stool, balance your coat on your lap, hang your purse underneath and prepare to be on a social mood because you will get to know your neighbors VERY well, whilst the servers, other bystanders, etc are passing by constantly behind you and in front of you. It is not a comfortable feeling to be constantly readjusting and being aware of your environs. Decent pizza, great calamari, high prices. I’d rather stick to my go to Il Casaro in North Beach.
