Happened to be in the 5th& Mission area and looking for coffee and breakfast at a reasonable price. Guess again, American Slam $ 14.95, Skillets $ 17.29! Can you say Super Bowl price gouging?

The food comes out looking just a little bit sad. It did not give me that warm nostalgic feeling of a classic American diner.

Apparently the Denny’s finds itself as a large American chain of restaurants, where hamburgers, breakfasts, and milkshakes are on offer. Such a chain exists here in San Francisco. Yes, the prices are quite high. But today, my colleague and I took a breakfast of the pancakes and it was quite satisfactory. I recommend the banana pecan pancakes, which, in addition to having candied pecans included, also had real bananas. This particular dish is on the healthier side with turkey bacon and egg whites included. I found the food delicious, and the service was very friendly. Unilocal also provides a discount if you check in. I had a need for breakfast, and this need was met by Denny’s. It is recommended.

Not sure why this place is getting bad reviews but what do you fools expect from a restaurant like this? The meat they use on their steak sandwich is delicious and that’s all that matters! Fries were a little weak but they do the job. Also, they’re open late night! They were there for my drunk ass when no where else was… lol

I give it 4 stars because Dennys food is amazing! Way better than that crap Mels place on Vanness and tenderloin. Enough said. — 1 star off because I was told to sit on the right side of the restaurant instead of sitting on the left because the tables were not opened to everyone. — 1 star off due to inflated prices that you will see on the menu. They really need to do something about those prices so I can rate it 5 stars. Until then, I will only leave it at 3 stars.

Let’s get one thing straight: This is a Denny’s. It’s not the latest hipster foodie bistro in the Mission and it does not sell«New American» cuisine… In fact, it very squarely sells old American cuisine, ie, the stuff you remember from Denny’s growing up: Magnificently hyper-processed, sodium-and-grease-laden low-quality grub that bears little resemblance to real food. You can be relatively certain that the vast majority of this cuisine arrived frozen on some gigantic tractor-trailer, and the flavors were concocted in a lab in New Jersey. There, now that we’ve gotten THAT out of the way… This is just a plain old Denny’s. They sell the stuff you remember that they sell. The prices at this Denny’s are HIGHER than other locations around the country, probably because you are in an expensive city where rent costs more for businesses. Also, this is one of the few eateries in that neighborhood that is open 24 hours, making it ground zero for anyone from any of the neighboring hotels who wants a late-night snack after clubbing around Union Square. Some things you should know about this location: 1. They will not take your order over the phone. They clearly don’t trust people who order over the phone to actually show up and pay for their order. 2. Your food will take forever for them to make, even if there are only two other people eating at tables there. Why? Who knows? This is one of Life’s Great Mysteries. 3. If you looked on the online menu for Denny’s and saw that they have deals for $ 2, $ 4, $ 6, and $ 8, don’t get excited. You’ll find that this location doesn’t offer most, if any of those deals. 4. This neighborhood, and specifically this block, can be a bit sketchy at night, so please, if you’re female, it’s probably a good idea not to walk here alone unless you know self-defense. 5. The front entrance is reasonably WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE, although I can’t speak for the bathroom, having never tried to use it here. That’s pretty much all you need to know about this location in particular. Other than that, it’s just like every other Denny’s. If you’re looking for late-night grub and don’t care all that much what it is, this is probably just fine for you. If you want something a little less-processed, you can always order delivery from DNA Pizza until 4 am instead. Sadly, San Francisco isn’t really a city with a lot of late-night food options, especially around Union Square.

The worst food in San Francisco. It took a good 10 min for anyone to come take our order and it wasn’t really busy. The food took another 20 — 30 minutes. Some of us fell asleep at the table. Now I don’t have a high standard for denny’s food, but even this place is below denny’s standards. At the end the cashier refused to split the check until our tiny asian friend ripped him a new one. We should have gone to subway :/Rebuq Red Raid

They don’t deserve not even one star!!! Worst Customer service! My mom and I where shopping around the area so we decided to go to Denny’s. The girl that sat us didn’t even say a word to us she just sat us on the table and gave us the menu. My mom and I waited there for 20min until we decided to just leave because no one even bother to go and take are order. When we where leaving all of the employees where just standing at the front counter and didn’t even bother to ask why we where leaving without ordering. Never coming here again!!!

First of all the prices, bull $#!+ Second, the food sucks. Big time! My salad tasted like it was from a bag in the mark down isle of the grocery store. My soup, tastes just like cambells chicken noodle, but they didn’t dilute it, it’s very greasy. My kid ordered the pizza off the kids menu, it wasn’t even cut into slices and was definitely microwaved! The service sucks, waited forever for drinks and there’s like 5 tables and 3 waitresses! Gross gross gross, worst Dennys ever, especially for the price!!! I rated it 4 stars so yo can read how crappy it is. Oh and my kids said the bathrooms were that of a horror movie.. .

Fair warning: Because of its location, the prices are definitely not«normal» Denny prices. Anyway, the good part is that this place is open 24hrs.

The service here is horrible. A waiter with a pony tail didn’t want to serve me and a friend and once he brought out our food he also brought the check. He also yelled at my friend for«sleeping» which she wasn’t. I guess joking around is out of the question at this Denny’s. I don’t recall being rude to him so I was expecting the same kind of respect in return. I know they work long and late hours and that’s tough and tiring but that doesn’t mean you have to take it out on tour customers. Sorry, but not coming back here again.

This place sucks. Food is over priced for what it is. I understand you pay for the overhead because of its city location and area but come on! If our order didnt have a side of hair in it with no effort made to correct the problem I wouldnt mind the price. Everything we would pay $ 8-$ 10 for elsewhere was $ 15-$ 20 at dennys in SF. Probably the worst Dennys ive ever been to. Our orders were screwed up and not what we wanted but they were«close enough» so we just took it. I dont know if it was the server screwing up or cooks. We had an order of chicken strips and immediately after getting it found a long piece of hair in it after breaking off a small piece. We told our server and showed him the hair and since we barely touched the strips he took it back and told us he’ll bring us a new order. He returns 5 mins later with the same strips but dropped in oil again to warm it up some more to make it look like a fresh batch. Wtf! We’re not stupid and know what they did. The chicken strips were a little more fried than usual with some burnt tips and the piece that we broke a small corner off of was there too but just cooked some more. So they really just took the hair off refried it and gave it back. The place wasnt busy at all for the time of day and our server never checked on us at any time. We had to keep calling them over for service or if we needed anything. Never coming back here again. Dennys is known for cheap american eats with mediocre service. Great service and gourmet foods is not their specialty but this place really makes the Dennys name look bad.

Not sure what normal staffing is like. They were a man down and apparently the missing person had been injured and couldn’t at work. Service was obviously affected by that. I hear the worker will be ok… That’s good news at least. On the flip side it did take 20 mins to order. But only 5 mins to get food. Which for a full staff in the kitchen did a not so good job.

If there was an option for 0 stars I would’ve chosen it. Me and my fiancé went to have dinner there and we were carrying a lot of bags with us. We were sat at a booth and I left to use the bathroom but when I came back security was telling my fiancé he had to go because the manager«saw» him on camera this morning… Doing what, I don’t know. Now let me state two facts, 1: we haven’t eaten here in months 2: my fiancé was at work this morning There is no way he saw us and I believe he was either discriminating against us because of our race or because I looked like I was poor, either way, this establishment is a mess and I will never support them again. Side note: when I asked for corporates number the manager couldn’t even give it to me, he acted like he didn’t know. Smh

This is the most overpriced Denny’s that I’ve ever been to in my life. The main reasons why we go to a Denny’s is for their low prices, their variety of foods, and they are the only place opened late at night. My friends and I came here after New Year’s Eve around 2am. We originally wanted to go to Mel’s Drive-In, but there was a long line out the door like a popular club; so we that decided to go across Mission St. to Denny’s, where we only needed to wait a few minutes. There were six of us, yet they crammed us at a table seated for four. We just wanted to get something quick to eat and stay for a little while. The restaurant was crowded at 2am, so we weren’t expecting any good service, but our waitress was nice and efficient at this hour. Before we sat down, I also noticed that the seats were wet. It’s as though they did a quick wipe with a towel that was too wet, and they didn’t even bother drying our seats. The surprising thing that stood out to me immediately were the inflated prices of their generic items on their menu. I’ve never seen«Moon over my Hammy» nor their«Original Grand Slam» so expensive before! I started to think if their menu that I received was a special menu that is given out specifically for New Year’s Eve. Of course., this establishment does not have the«$ 2, $ 4, $ 6, $ 8» menu. The quality of the food from Denny’s has always been below average, but you accept that because you’re paying a very low price for their food. At these prices, it’s not worth. You really do feel ripped off, especially when you know how cheap their other restaurants are. If I could., I would rate them higher at 1.5 stars because our waitress was nice and she was working hard; but also because they are another late night alternative restaurant that is opened to the public, than the more popular & crowded Mel’s Drive-In across the street.

My expectations when going to a Denny’s are not particularly high, but even with that in mind, this particular Denny’s has to be the worst franchise in the whole of the country. The menu prices are literally double every other location I’ve ever eaten at, and the staff here acts as if they truly want you to have a terrible experience. When I first arrived, I was met by the security guard who was telling a party of 3 guys that they could not eat there. I didn’t see what happened prior, but they all seemed sober(ish) and not the typical customers who don’t cut it at Denny’s. Anyhow, it was 5am, and the place had more staff than customers, and even then it took 5 mins to be seated, and 15 before anyone came to take my order. The food that first came out was not what I ordered, but the server dropped it and ran away so fast, that I didn’t have time to mention it. So I waited for him to return, and was given half of my correct order. It was badly burned and totally unappetizing looking. Anyway, I could go on about how totally dirty the place was. How the booth I was placed in was broken and had been repaired with a lag bolt that literally was sticking out where your legs go. But why bother? The staff here has one job… and it seems like they don’t care to even try to do it passably. AVOID. Every other diner in town is better… in every way.
