DPD is short in cantonese for dai pai dong, literally means big gathering of stalls/vendors aka street food-hong kong style. not here anymores. Quickly’s here. DPD had been here for decades. ate here a few times before hong kong style eateries started sprouting up all over. food was cheap but not memorable in the hing lung or sam wo sense. only had 10ish tables.

Quite surprise the amount of reviews written for this place: «one». Matt and co-worker were in Chinatown for lunch. And yes, we were very hungry and with our cruiser, we can park wherever we want.(BLAH!) We started with Hunan-style Fried Chicken Wings. The $ 5.25 poultry appetizer had 6 pieces and was two-thumbs up tasty, even though it was surprisingly spicy. The lunch specials are really affordable and for under $ 5.00 we took advantage of the deal. Matt had the Mongolian-Beef and vegetarian co-worker had the Ma Po Tofu. Both of our spicy meal came with rice, house-soup & tea. The portions were a decent size. Both of us had a stuffy-nose coming in to the restaurant and after eating the spicy and solid meal, we left, being able to smell the dirty streets of Chinatown.

Got the Hot Chili Sauce Chicken for $ 4 and it was excellent. Loved the sauce, chicken was very plentiful and good quality and nice green peppers and onion. Rice and tea also, though tea was cold which was only negative. Place is tiny but tidy place at corner of Jackson and Kearny and they recently got a new paint job so it looks nice. Very affordable and they had Average White Band playing on the radio in the kitchen real loud when I walked in which really hit the spot.
