So disappointed, had a groupon and looked forward to using it! All I thought was Yummy! Let Down! I do not get how they have the star rating they have, I ordered fish tacos, carnitas burrito and a steak burrito, the fish was like store bought(Gordon’s fish sticks) breaded fish with no flavor, the carnitas were very dry and smelled funny and the steak was overlooked leather like, very bad, will not be back and will share the warning not to go here, a neighborhood let down…

Top three Mexican spot I’ve eaten at. And I’m from San Diego. I always get the super carne asada burrito.

This place is great. Al Pastor is pretty good here. Asada is pretty good too. Super tacos are ridiculously loaded with toppings. Pretty good salsa bar too. Def a must.

Ordered from here via Eat24.
One order of pozole, 9.50. I’ve been on a pozole kick.
I don’t know if this is an every day thing but, last Thursday night, these guys treated me right. Heaps of radishes, heaps of onions, heaps of cabbage. Lots of avocado. All fresh. And that sweet tender salty pork that falls off the bone when you touch it with a spoon.
Ahhhh, yes, this is why I order pozole. Serving was so large I made it two meals. Couldn’t have been happier!

First of all they completely messed up my order. Then I had the worst case of food poisoning I’ve ever had. Pure hell. I’ll never go back.

Open late, cheap and good. Tuesday taco, makes a great deal with sides of chips. The drinks are pretty good to get considering the water cups are super tiny. Good place to go in the missionZ

Very delicious chicken and carne tacos. Better service than the«big competitor» down the street I’ll be coming back

Best late night tacos without the truck. The seating is uncomfortable, maybe they don’t want fools moving in… Food was the best part, tasty. Will be going back on those really late nights.

Mild at best. They’ve improved two things since 2009: Grilled chicken was in stock and there were wheat tortillas. That’s good to see. But there always seems to be something and this time it was the strange look upon asking for mild sauce. Nope. Everything is either medium or hot. Good to know. Which meant my chicken taco went without salsa. There was a decent amount of chicken. But every third(oily) bite or so led to something like a leftover tendon. Any taco costing $ 3.12 after tax should be flawless. Unfortunately this place is still flawed. Prices for other things like tortas and breakfast burritos looked on the high side as well. Mildly impressed.

Back in the day, and I mean BACK in the day, like, 1989, we walked out of our new house for lunch, turning off all the power tools and leaving the remodel mess behind for a lunch break. We found Taco Loco and went in. Nice girl behind the counter, good smells, generous choice of agua fresca, four kinds of salsa. We order 6 burritos to feed all the friends who are volunteering to help us get our funky Edwardian flat into habitable shape. Moments later we have six tight foil wrapped bundles, identifying scrawls on each so when we dole them out we can tell which one is a super, which one is no salsa, the cheese free one for the lactose intolerant buddy and the extra hot one for my spice crazed mom. Score! That day was followed by countless others. Fast forward to 2015. Long day, latest round of renovation is moving along. End of the day decision is that burritos would hit the spot. So the order is taken and I walk down to Taco Loco to place it. We walk in and it all looks familiar, but man, looks are deceiving. The menu has a few changes. Ok. No smiling woman behind the counter. Ok. I begin placing the order. The distracted guy behind the counter is taking an order for 6 burritos and 2 tacos. He is looking over my shoulder to the game on the TV while taking the lengthy order. At one point I ask«did you get the ‘no rice’?» He nods yes and I go on. He finishes taking the order and charges me. I see him pulling out a huge stack of tiny salsa containers and ask«can I have a few larger ones instead?» and he pulls out 4 nominally larger containers and hands them over. The order finally comes out and we head home. Imagine the chaos as we begin to unpack the shiny rolls and none of the markings make sense. Some of the burritos say one thing on the outer foil, and a different one on the inside. And NEITHER is correct. Supers are mixed up with regulars, spicy with mild, pastor instead of asada, something that looks and tastes like hamburger(?!?) instead of carnitas. Of six burritos they made ONE correctly. Four of us couldn’t eat because of spice issues. The tacos were ordered extra cheese and came with no cheese. I called back to bitch and the guy who took the order answers. You can not even picture how the tall solidly built guy copps a tiny whingy voice whimpering about how he ‘took the order right’ and I must have read it wrong. Uh huh. I pointed out that he had screwed up the whole order and I wanted 4 burritos refunded. Another wimpy whinge ‘I don’t know how to do that.‘ Really? REALLY? Unfrickinbelievable. My parting words were«I am SO Unilocaling your ass!» I guess we check out Cancun next time we want burritos. But man, that is just sad to see a classic joint take such a tragic nose dive. New owners maybe? I am guessing that San Francisco’s Darwinian restaurant culling will swiftly take this weak, lame, taco from out of the pack and put a fork in it. Because it is so done.

I absolutely love this place! I would come here on Taco Tuesday’s because their tacos are $ 1.50 for the regular meats(carne asada, al pastor, chicken, carnitas) and $ 2 for fish tacos. I’m pretty picky with al pastor, but I like the way they make it. I would recommend their super burrito or quesadilla with either carne asada or al pastor. It is amaze-balls. Been coming here for years and will definitely keep coming back.

I’m going to make this simple. I use to LOVE this place but it’s gone downhill 1) Cashier. Waited till she was done talking to her friend and not friendly at all 2) Food. ordered a super burrito with carne asada extra guacamole and extra sour cream came out to $ 10.00. What I got looked like a baby veggie burrito and no flavor. 3) As I was leaving the cashier was ignoring more customers. Never again

I hadn’t been to this place in maybe 15 years. However recently my mom who goes regurly has suggested it a few times. From day one I felt like we were being overcharged for the amount of food we were served. Basically they don’t give you napkins or plastic forks unless you ask, same with the chips and again portions are rationed. Mind you I don’t ever post reviews on Unilocal but today I just had to. I normally order tostadas de ceviche and they are pretty tasty. The issue again was the portion. I got it to go and it was packed in a salsa container. Really!!! Total joke. I get that times are hard but I rather pay more and be satisfied but instead I’m left feeling robbed. Oh but they did give me half an avocado to go with my extremely small portion of ceviche. I don’t remember it being like this before. Must be under new management.

I have always gone to this taqueria as a child so I decided to take my god daughter. I ordered a super nachos with chicken nothing hit and got her a beans, cheese, and rice burrito. We decided to take it to go because it was getting late. So after dropping her, I arrive home and hand the box tomy husband and as I’m changing, he asked me why my nachos only had lettuce, beans, guacamole and sour cream!!! Omg they didn’t put the chicken lol !!! Plus their chips were stale!!! Overcharged me for nasty food! I’m sticking to La Alteña for now on. A waste if time and money

El Gran Taco Loco has pricey eats. i. e $ 2.70@taco. ambience just basic. seating is plastic molded benches.(too small for me) eats: lengua burrito(6.6) –onions, black beans, tender lengua, rice –average sized burrito, not big –came with commercial tortilla chips, not so fresh –salsa bar available, makes the burrito tastier. 3.5 stars take outs: –majority of patrons at lunch spanish speakers –food not a great value but tasted fresh, ok…

Yeah, so uhm, Mission District… So many places to choose from. We chose this one. Not for any particular reason — though I did like the name the first day we were there and the art inside was amusing(a jalapeño gun slinger chasing a taco down is right inside the door). But really, we got off the bus to walk back to the AirBNB place we were staying at and this was right at the bus stop. Overall, a great experience! The staff was friendly and patient, even with some people who were having trouble deciding on stuff. The service was pretty fast, as well, along with a decently-sized menu — not too big, not too small. The food came quickly and was delicious in all ways. The«super tacos» were just that — super! Piled high with chicken, sauce, cheese, and sour cream. My girlfriend’s veggie burrito was absolutely wonderful — jam packed with avocado and other goodies. Her daughter’s chicken quesadilla was HUGE. ABSOLUTELYHUGE! Good staff. Good prices. Good quality. Oh, and a decent Mexican beer selection! And Mexican Coke, too!

Being the daughter and sometimes employee of a man who regularly picked up Hispanic workers in front of Home Depot during most of my youth(and even still to this day) I got to know plenty o’ Taquerias in SF. Taco Loco was always a front-runner during lunchtime. Everything they serve is delicious, I will say I’m not too difficult to please as long as the food is fresh, spicy, and doesn’t harm my body in any way. The Burrito Loco Mojado Super($ 8.75) is a variation on a wet burrito(with the addition of guac) and is hella good and very big so I always had leftovers for the end of the day of being a day laborer with my dear old dad. Tacos are a good choice if you’re dining in. Fast service, nice staff. I’m a fan.
