I’ve seen Dr. Jonelis several times and every time I am pleased with his practice — he has an excellent bed side manner, explains things thoroughly, and honestly seems to care about my health. Before my first appointment, other kaiser colleagues explicitly recommended him and the MA’s always voluntarily drop compliments after working with him.

I’ve met a lot of doctors in my lifetime, and I haven’t encountered one as defensive nor as condescending as Dr. Jonelis in almost a decade. He didn’t ask about pain or when it appeared. When I said that it was strange that a spot could have appeared on my skin out of nowhere, he responded quite defensively about his examination skills. I had the impression that he was more concerned with protecting his ego than understanding that I was looking for an answer. I’ve been very happy with the majority of my doctors at Kaiser who go out of their way to listen carefully, treat me with respect, and patiently answer my questions, but this guy is a glaring exception.

Dr. Jonelis has the ability to make complex issues accessible; he has an exceptional gift of communication.(It’s a great feeling to get a handle on the difference between basal and squamous cell carcinomas, for instance.) Of course communication means nothing without the experience and good judgement to go with it. Dr. Jonelis, in my opinion, has it all — and in abundance. BTW, no secret that his patients(many hundreds) feel the same way; they do not change physicians — one might say they«vote with their skin».

I see Dr. Jonelis on a regular basis for routine skin checks. I’ve always been very happy with the service he provides. He’s extremely knowledgable, patient, and attentive. I’ve been to other very competent dermatologists in the past, but none measure up to Dr. Jonelis!

*warning* graphic description of skin condition to follow i added this man to Unilocal just so i could write him a horrible review. in addition to being a condescending jerk, he’s also WRONG. he told me that, based on my dry, flaky, sensitive skin and chronic allergic reactions, i had ACNE. when i tentatively suggested that might be incorrect, he amended his evaluation to «acne that even a two-year-old could diagnose.» then he wrote me a prescription for… a birth control pill. a few months later i went to see a real doctor who told me right away that i had classic eczema – which made sense since i had all of the symptoms and it runs in my family. i think this man may have dropped out of clown college, killed the real dr. jonelis(the one with the degree in medicine), and taken his place.
