Fu War Restaurant

Great food and very cheap. Kinda seedy part of town (6^th and mission) but they deliver city wide. We used to order Fu War once a week or more when I worked near there. The staff is friendly and would recognize my voice when id call. Great shrimp fried rice. Fast delivery and they take care of regulars with free sodas or appetizers from time to time without even asking.
I’ve been in there dining room a few times and even though its in a seedy part of town, the restaurant was clean and nice.
If you haven’t tried this place yet, DO IT!!!

Fast delivery and very large portion. I was shocked by how heavy it is when the delivery arrived. +1 for the working online ordering site. And free sodas!
Taste wise it isn’t so great. You’ve got a lot of choices but none of the 4 dishes I ordered stood out. It’s too greasy and the ingredients don’t seem that fresh. However I’d still recommend this place if you don’t have a high standard for Chinese food and you are just craving for some chow mien on some lazy night.

We tried Fu War after they left a hanging menu on our door knob. The food quality was pretty good with a decent ratio of meat: vegetable. Nothing irks me more than when the chicken in Hunan Chicken or some other dish is breaded and fried. What joy to see real meat with no batter.
Despite these «pros», there was just something missing in the dishes we ordered. The taste was good but not great or memorable or even «Chinese-​y». I think we’ll try some other places before going back.

What can I say… this place has grown on me so I’ve come back to give it another star.
It’s cheap Chinese food that isn’t horribly greasy and that doesn’t seem like you could put it in a Jell-​o mold and it would keep it’s shape. (This puts it above maybe half of the Chinese restaurants in the city right there.) The prices are very reasonable and the portions are gigantic. The vegetables always taste pretty fresh and the food quality is pretty darn consistent.
Service is always friendly, often sincerely smiling, and there to refill your water long before you need it. Have a big group? Not usually a problem. The server will happily rearrange things so your group can be seated together. They’re generally very grateful for the business and it usually shows.
Really, not a lot not to like.
