This place has been closed for like a year, not sure what’s taking Unilocal so long to update the listing. I’m surprised it even opened in the first place, considering the other nearby Thai restaurants. Seemed more like it belonged somewhere along 25th avenue area near all the bubble tea cafes. Someone recently bought the place and did a nice renovation. It is now a somewhat upscale Japanese restaurant with small menu. Definitely an upgrade for the neighborhood.

We wanted to head over to Marnee Thai, but the line was too insane-packed with anxious people waiting to get in. I wanted Thai food in San Fran, so we decided to keep walking down and little did you know another thai food spot pop up. It wasn’t packed house like Marnee, but the stomach was asking for food and we decided to give it a shot. The inside was looking fresh and modern. hip and in touch with the interior designer roots. The service was good and very attentive. We ordered the yellow curry, lemon grass chicken and pad thai. When we got our food, atleast for me I was expecting a «wow» or a «damnnn, bomb», but only thing I could express was an «it was okay». I wasn’t disappointed nor wow, so 3 stars fits the taste and atmosphere of this joint.

I live in the Haight, which means when you get that urge for a good thai fried rice and crispy pork, you won’t have a lot of options. I love SF and it’s abundance of choices, I certainly wouldn’t have the leisure of being picky on thai delivery in my hometown of San Diego. However here I am in SF, and so therefore I will burden you all with my first world problems. If you go near Soma you have Osha Thai, and Thai House Express to fill your needs for good crispy pork or a good roasted duck with veggies. So when I saw a new thai place delivering to my hood, I was stoked! So in a nutshell, here is the good and the bad. The first time I ordered, it was amazing, perfect, I was overjoyed that I finally found a place to deliver tasty thai fried rice, and the even more rare, crispy pork belly. I tried the roti for good measure, and even the coconut ice cream was somehow above par. Everything I ordered was executed with absolute quality. The second time I ordered, I stepped into the twilight zone of customer service purgatory. First they called and said they didn’t have calamari, and insisted I order something of the exact same price. After several«on hold» moments, they finally said I could order the only other thing I was interested in(soft shell crab) if I paid $ 2 more. I was a bit annoyed and mumbled something about a bad review on Unilocal, and instantly they said they will accommodate me. Now, I was happy, and excited. And then, 5 – 10 minutes later, they said they ran out of the crispy pork. I was crushed, annoyed, and almost vowed never to order there again. However, it’s not my taste buds’ fault that they have terrible customer service, and I’d only be doing myself an injustice. **Had this place cared just a little about how they treated their customers, I’d have given them 5 stars. ** So in summation: Come here for the food, not the service. They still have much to learn about treating customers like they matter, and because of this I feel their Unilocal reviews will continue to suffer. The area needs more quality thai places, and the fact is, between the bland options like Samila Thai, I say give this place a chance. They deliver on the food, which is what really matters.

This is a new restaurant and you can tell that they are still trying to get their footing. I think they suffer from being in an area with lots of popular and established restaurants including everyone’s favorite Marnee Thai right across the street. However, I’ve been here twice and saw significant improvement on my second visit. My first meal was good, but not particularly interesting. The second time I came here I ordered off the specials menu and was very pleasantly surprised. I can’t remember the name of the dish but the sauce was delicious and there were TONS of big prawns in it. It was garnished with kaffir lime(I think?) which was a really nice touch. I like that they offer real sticky rice which was perfect for sopping up the sauce. My only gripe is that we ordered tea and just got regular old green tea bags. The first time we came the tea was that really fragrant Thai loose tea and I was hoping for that again, but not really that big a deal. The service is very very enthusiastic and friendly. Maybe too much for some people but I appreciated it. The ambiance is a little strange and last time I was there they were playing the Dick Van Dyke show on the tv in the dining room which seemed kind of strange. I’ve only been here later in the evening, but I notice that the sandwich board out front mentions a happy hour and yesterday I was walking by and saw that they are now offering a complementary glass of wine with dinner. It seems like they’re really working hard to be creative and draw people in and I hope things work out for them.

It was a beautiful day and we wanted to eat outside, so we stopped at this restaurant. As with the other reviewer, We were the only customers, so I said that we should go elsewhere, but my husband wanted to give it a try. Both the service and food were excellent. We had pumpkin curry(excellent), papaya salad(excellent), and spring rolls(rolls were excellent, sauce okay and peanut sauce too sweet). Note to owner: the plastic green grass on ground and on walls around look very tacky. The natural wood lattice and even concrete floor would have been much more attractive. Please take them down and improve the atmosphere 100%.

Because it was a beautiful day, we were looking for a lunch spot with outdoor seating, and we were happy to see that Full Moon had a patio. I know this restaurant is relatively new, but when we walked in, we were the only ones there. When we sat down, both of us whipped out our phones and started reading Unilocal reviews and things weren’t looking good at all. I really wanted to leave, as to me, an empty restaurant is a red flag and prior reviews weren’t hopeful, but the BF said we should give it a shot. Have to say, we were pleasantly surprised and I’m glad I didn’t turn around and walk out. My Thai iced coffee was served in a large glass. Our vegetarian spring roll was good. His Pad Kee Mow was flavorful and not greasy. My pumpkin curry was super tasty. Noteworthy: we both asked for our food«spicy,» and they actually made it so. I appreciate restaurants who actually do make things spicy instead of disregarding the request. All and all, we were happy with our meal. While I like Marnee a lot, it can be a long wait and this place is right across the street. Strongly suggest giving this place another go. Hopefully this wasn’t an isolated experience.

I know why they call this place Full Moon, it’s because that’s what it feels like in there. Bizarro. First red flag should have been getting cornered by the waitress at the door while looking at the menu outside. The fact that the place was empty made it especially off-putting. However, being the bleeding-heart Inner Sunset local that I am, I figured I owed my patronage to a new neighborhood restaurant and underdog to Marnee, which is just across the street(and amazing). Regardless of the fact that we were the only people there, we had two servers, which was a bit overwhelming. When they weren’t watching us like hawks, they were all over us, filling up our water cups every five seconds. However when we asked for more soy sauce, we were made to feel like it was the biggest inconvenience ever. Apparently it is an unreasonable request there. No one likes a soy sauce guilt trip. I ordered tom kha soup, which the waitress assured me was vegetarian. However, upon my first spoonful I found a sizable chunk of chicken. I should have sent it back but I did a thorough scan of the soup and came to the conclusion that it was indeed the only piece, and wrote it off as a careless but honest mistake. It was a pretty big turn-off and luckily my stomach hasn’t retaliated yet. Nonetheless, still just a collection of minor inconveniences at this point but the real kicker was after we had gotten our check. My dinner-mate and I each signed for our respective halves of the bill. As we packed up to leave the waitresses rushed back to our table, and checked over our signed and tipped receipts. Insanely awkward! We couldn’t get out of there faster! I was approached again by the waitress as we left because apparently I had«signed the wrong copy of the check» which I also thought was strange because they were identical. TLDR: Food was mediocre at best(and not super veg friendly). Experience was bizarre, and not in the good way. Go to Marnee!

We decided to give this new Thai restaurant a try. The following reasons are why we rated this restaurant a 1 star… 1) The service was good to start, but then slowly became non existent. Our first server was a very friendly girl who seemed very attentive until her friends showed up. They took up a table of their own and talked and ate while ignoring us(btw we were the only table in the restaurant). 2) The food was bland!!! Very bland. It was the worst Thai food I have ever eaten. There was a nasty artificial sweetener in the pad thai and the pad kee mao had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. 3) The décor was well designed but cheaply made… It felt like we were in an Ikea floor model. 4) Back to the service. The real kicker. One of the servers… if you could call her that since she never took off her winter coat, was horrifically rude. She acted like a teenager who was told by her parents to go and pick up her room, except she wasn’t picking her room up she was giving us our check. I was completely offended and will never go back to this disgusting excuse for a Thai restaurant.

I came here last week when the weather was magically warm. The sign outside promising an outdoor patio really was the seller for me to try this new local eatery. We just wanted drinks and were warmly welcomed, though surely they would have rather we ordered real food. I had my favorite, Thai ice tea and my friend had a beer. They do have a great happy hour and they even offered us a free appetizer. Though, their customer service is great, it’s their décor that makes me really want to come back with a group of friends. The outdoor patio had lots of twinkle lights and cute chairs and tables. It felt a little like a mini golf deco feel. Though, the inside is just as unique, but classy. I say that will great happiness. You’ll go to eat and come back to enjoy the fun Decore and lovely service.

i eat Thai food 5 out of 7 days a week. i’ve eaten here twice and am vegetarian and each dish i ordered was great. My second visit there i brought along three newbies, all meat eaters. They gave this place a 5 star rating as far as taste and portions. In fact, one guy bought an extra serving of his same dish to take home! Was waited on both times i was there by Min, who bent over backwards to give us great service. Though i like other Thai places in the neighborhood, the food here was top-rate, noise level too high across the street at Marnee(which i also like) whereas Full Moon was happy to turn music down the second we asked. This is my favorite new Thai place in the Sunset. If i have to choose Thai in this area, this is where i will go!

I’d give Full Moon half the max Unilocal stars. Service is super attentive, and it’s very clear that this is a top priority for this new restaurant. The waitstaff was friendly and all smiles, and our water glasses were never below half full. I just wish I had as many glowing compliments regarding the food. It’s not that the food was bad, per se; it just wasn’t that good. Our dishes were on the dry side and not bursting with flavor like I’d expect out of a Thai restaurant. I appreciated the calamari’s light batter, but needed more calamari. Both the Pad Kee Mao and the catfish were dry. Then we thought we’d get the best of both worlds with the green curry fried rice, but the rice was too clumpy and lacking in curry flavor. Also, our roti sides were less like roti and more like Chinese green onion pancake, minus the green onion. With at least three other Thai restaurants in only a three block radius, I’d unfortunately skip Full Moon next time(this is despite their loyalty card, which offers discounts and free appetizers). Good effort.

Curious if this one will last because I was not impressed and we have some good eateries in the neighborhood… there is even Marnee Thai across the street… so competition is tight… Not impressed over all — décor is shiny on the cheap, food is somehow bland and not because spices are missing and overall I don’t think it measures up with the places around… I saw better places packing their toys and moving out, let’s see what happens here in one year…

We happened to come across this restaurant while touring my family at the Golden Gate Park. They are just a few block walking distance from the Academy of Arts building. The restaurant itself is very contemporary and cozy. I was impressed with the way they handled our large party considering we had several small children with us in such a tight space. We got seated promptly and they took good care of our group. The food itself was superb although I found their pad thai to be a little on the sweet side. There was a gentleman who kept appearing to us and made sure we are getting what we needed. Everyone at our table truly appreciated that. At the end of our meal, we were all happily fed. Although this wasn’t a planned event, it was a very pleasant addition to our afternoon in the city. I hope many others will find the same experience we did.

Imagine this cinematic mullet of Thai restaurants: Logan’s Run in the front, Alice in Wonderland in the back. Clocking in at 2.8 for the food, 4 for the ambience, 3-something overall. Soft Shell Crab PreGrand Opening Appetizer Moon Water Green Curry Fried Rice Back to Thai Future Sit on the«Next Stop, Cheehu» chair in the garden. Back to Thai Future II I hope /expect they’ll expand the music to more than the one cut looping every several minutes. Back to Thai Future III I was asked ~3 times if my food was too spicy. Please DON’T REDUCE the spiciness. You’d become another of many restaurants with«watered-down», «Americanized» heat levels, whereas right now the baseline spice is legit. Nguer! Kap koon ka! Grand Opening on August 28. Morning Thai celepraytion, evening party.

We just stopped by this fantastic new Thai restaurant for dinner before a night out. The Full Moon noodles(with soup or dry, I ordered dry) are a new twist on the standard Pad Thai noodles, with nice fresh ingredients. The shrimp cakes were nice big cakes with fresh minced shrimp, but a little too bready for my preference. the duck noodle soup was also a fresh and tasty winner. It’s a nice new restaurant with clean and modern feel and great friendly service… highly recommended!

Went here for a togo dinner order during their soft opening. The place looks completely different than the old Masala Indian restaurant. Glammy chandeliers! The staff was nice and attentive and I let them know my order was for takeout. I’m a veg so I try each Thai restaurant in my nabe, and this one is the front runner currently. Ordered the Pad Kra Prao with tofu and asked for medium spicy. My food was cooked perfectly and actually had thai basil in it that I could see and taste-bonus points for that. IMHO this place is better than Marnee Thai so far, but haven’t tried their curries yet. Will soon, but I give it a thumbs up and plan to go back. P. S. either order enough food to cover the $ 15 minimum credit card charge or bring cash

Awesome thai restaurant! Just opened in the Inner Sunset neighborhood. Hasn’t even had its grand opening yet but will in about a week. They had free veggie egg roll samplers out front. Hubby and I were originally gonna head to Gordo’s for dinner but checked out the restaurant and decided to give it a try. Good prices. A bit cheaper than Marnee Thai across the street. Very friendly and attentive service. Free moon water(sweet, floral tea drink) and delicious appetizer sampler in honor of its first opening week. The sampler consisted of chicken satay with peanut sauce, fried tofu, veggie egg rolls and what I think was small fried chicken wings? Very good! Ordered the chicken pad see-yu. Hubby ordered the crab fried rice. Pad see-yu was delicious and the crab in the crab fried rice was super fresh! You could actually taste the succulent crab meat! Hubby and I have both had crab dishes at Marnee Thai and other thai restaurants and never before have we been able to taste such fresh, delicious crab in the dishes. Thai iced teas were up to par with how yummy thai teas should taste. For dessert, had the sticky rice with coconut ice cream and it was heavenly bliss! Absolutely super, super delicious and yummy. Definitely recommend trying! They even had us fill out a very short survey on the quality of the food, service, etc. Will definitely have to come back to try their lunch combo and other yummy dishes.
