Delicious dim sum, very moody women… Don’t expect a smile! The size of the dumplings and buns are much bigger than i am use to. Two of us had a nice treat to eat at Union Square for $ 9 with some BBQ from the shop down the street #nosoupforyou

Dim sum is probably one of my favorite food groups, and I normally go to sit down restaurants, but work near china town and saw all the great reviews. First off the place is hidden in the middle of the neighborhood and always has a line out of the door during lunch, which drew my attention. This place, like most of its dim sum competitors is quite affordable(very filling meal for under $ 7), but I found the menu was lacking crispy dumplings and only had steamed ones. Of the steamed, they are all on the larger side and only come in orders of three, so it’s hard to really get a taste of the menu. I’ve trying most of the popular ones, and concluded that I only like the shrimp dumplings, as the others are either too firm or too fluid filled. Lastly I’d like to make a note about the customer service, as I do understand there is a small language barrier, the women were a bit rude and unresponsive when I wasn’t able to understand them on the first try, and you definitely will not get a «thank you» or a smile, no matter how kind you are. Overall its pretty good, and cheap, and compared to a couple other dim sum places in the area, the shrimp dumplings are definitely better.

Dang, son! Boy, you weren’t kidding when you said this was good… Props to him who told me to go here. I dare not mention who exactly, his arrogance knows no bounds ;p As an out of towner who escaped to SF twice in a matter of weeks… I ended up here both times! Why? Cuz it’s super CHEAP and absolutely DELICIOUS! In a city where EVERYTHING seems to be a rip off, these delicious morsels are a HUGE bargain! There are no seats here folks, no dining in! You wait in line, order, and leave. Quick and easy. Maybe not EASY, but manageable. LOL. Let’s just say the ladies working behind the counter aren’t the friendliest I’ve ever encountered. They want you in and out quickly(with reason) so know what you’re going to order before reaching the front of the line ;) Make sure to get the following!!! –Shui Mai(Pork Dumplings) –Har Gow(Shrimp Dumplings) –Baked BBQ Pork Bun(Self Explanatory: p) These three items were the best I’ve tried, anywhere. No, I haven’t been to China. Calm down. I know these aren’t likely to be the best in the world, but so far the best I’ve had in the US: p

Take away dim sum? Hell yes. Why has no one thought of this before? 3 freaking gigantic Chinatown districts in New York and not one takeaway dim sum place(to my knowledge). And if there is one, please enlighten me asap because I’m sold on the concept. SOLD. 1. You don’t have to fight for a particular cart’s attention… everything is just Right. There. 2. It’s just as cheap, if not cheaper. 3. Lack of English is no longer a barrier… just point! 4. You get to sit wherever you want to enjoy your meal and not necessarily share your table with other Chinese folks who constantly judge you. 5. You may still have to wait in line, but at least the line won’t keep pushing you back when the Chinese paparazzi show up and waltz in ahead of you. I love dim sum, but traditional dim sum places tend to be a pain for me(for particular dietary reasons that don’t ever seem to translate well). This place felt safe. I could have as much as I wanted, of exactly what I wanted. So New York… man up… take away dim sum… Let’s do this!

But off the dumpling path, was that Onion bread that I kept see levitate in great masses off the pan! It knocked me off my snackpackn Arse! To the Folks who still love Carbs– It’s a must try, I’m kicking myself for only getting 1 piece! You’ll thank me later!

Great Har Gow, with relatively thin dough and good shrimp. Others are somewhat hit-or-miss, but at a high level. Probably the best in the area. Drawback: the hordes that make lines all the way to Alcatraz, and the seemingly embarrassing name. I mean, if you are standing in line, and someone calls you and asks where you are, how in the world can you say«At the Good Mong Kok» without breaking into laughter?

I would drive from SJ to SF just to get this…(SJSTEPUPYADIMSUMGAME) Waited on Sunday afternoon for about 15 minutes for our turn to order. We got the must-haves: 6 Har Gow 6 Shu Mai 4BBQ Baked Pork Buns 3 Shrimp and Chive Dumplings and a pan fried onion cake. It all came out to 17 bucks! They all tasted AMAZING but my favorite was the BBQ Baked Pork Buns!!! So glad I ordered extra. The inside is full of pork, saucy, salty, and sweet. The bun itself was very light. It’s like you should stick a patty between two bbq baked pork buns for the ultimate burger. Ok I’m getting outta control…

I waited in line for 30 minutes and tried to order half a dozen bbq buns and the person in front of me ordered a dozen so I left with only one. I didn’t feel like hanging out for them to bake more and I’m not even sure that was an option because the lady told me that’s all I get. My one bbq bun honestly wasn’t that great and the other items I ordered were cold. I’ve definitely had much better with much nicer service.

Okay, so overall I really enjoyed getting my Dim Sum on here. We went on a rainy Friday so there was basically no line, only a few people ahead of us, so that was awesome. We got the steamed BBQ buns, shrimp dumplings, shu mai(chicken and beef) and custard egg tarts. The best part was that all of that was like $ 8. And the portions are large! You can’t beat lunch for 2 for $ 8 bucks! Here’s the rundown: Steamed BBQ buns — yes, yes, yes. Get these! The bun is soft and fluffy and it has a ton of pork in it. Super good and quite filling. Shu Mai — I thought these were just okay. I liked the chicken better than the beef. The beef was too much like an Italian meatball. Egg Tart — could have been a little sweeter but overall tasty with a good texture Shrimp dumplings — my favorite item of the lot. Soft, chewy, shrimpy, yumminess. I could have eaten 10 of these. For a cheap and tasty meal, this place was worth every penny.

I’m a firm believer in Clement Street’s Chinese food supremacy, but a few hole in the wall restaurants redeem my faith in Chinatown. This is one of them. It looks unassuming and a bit grimy, like most other storefronts of this style, but I’ve never seen a line fewer than 20 people. Arrive early, because items sell out quickly. The food choices are 11⁄10. Pork wontons, shrimp dumplings, turnip cakes, sweet bread, sesame balls… the list goes on. It’s dirt cheap, even by broke college student standards, and arrives piping hot in small carry out containers. Don’t forget to bring cash. There is no seating, so I took my food and ate on the sidewalk in front of the Bank of Orient, like a squatter. I half expected someone to write me a ticket or at least throw me some loose change. One last thing to convince you: I’ve noticed that poor grammar correlates with good food. The window of Good Mong reads«DIMSUMNICEFOOD». This, friends, is a winner.

Take-out and cash only. Still, its the best of the best. If you serve the best Dim Sum in China Town, you deserve more than Five Stars. There’s a reason this place always has a line outside the door. Our only complaint is that they sell out of things quickly. Everything on the menu is amazing. Its fresh, hot, and delicious. When you start your order, make sure you tell them it will be a lot of food and that you’ll want the big container. Just pray that they have our favorite item in stock, the Shark Fin Dumplings. A close second is the Steamed Pork Sticky Rice, but it sells out even quicker than the first.

There’s always a line, but it moves pretty quickly because they’re super efficient inside. And when you take your first bite, you’ll see it was worth the wait. Everyone says to get the chives dumpling, and while it’s good, I like the hargow. I want to try the shumai, but they’re always out of it when I go! I’ve had the pork and veggie steambun and the BBQ pork steam bun and both were delicious. The BBQ, however seemed to have more filling. I ordered 6 items for about $ 6!!! And was hella full. I’m soooo happy I live near this place! I’m going back often.

Really interesting concept where you can get dim sum items to go. It’s a really long line, and it’s a bummer that they run out of food… but I understand why this place is so popular. You would think take-away dim sum wouldn’t be good, but actually, their items like shrimp dumpling or shiu mai are very meaty and tasty. So tasty that you don’t even need soy sauce in my opinion. I’ve never had har gau that had so much shrimp. Other items that were great were the char siu bao and gai bao. Their buns have plenty of meat in it too and also very tasty. I didn’t get to try their egg tart because they were sold out both times that I went, but I have heard that they’re very good. The prices are really cheap, you’ll pay a little more than $ 1 for bao and $ 2 for dim sum. You can eat very well for very cheap. Worth the wait and very tasty items. Get it and eat it fresh. The serving ladies aren’t the nicest, so you will want to know your order when you get up to the front of the line, but I think that minor difficulty is worth it for the other advantages.

When you walk up(or down) Stockton Street to the bakery, you should already expect some sort of line. Just set your expectations super low, and be pleasantly surprised like I was. I came here on a Saturday mid-afternoon and thought I would have to wait 30 minutes or so. I would say the wait was closer to 15 – 20 minutes. Not too bad. The disappointing part was the fact that they ran out of sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves(which was expected) but I’ll come back next time for those. You really need to know what you want at Good Mong Kok, especially if you know zero Chinese or food terms. It’s more difficult to «point and pick» because there are layers of metal trays that hide who knows what other options. Overall the food is tasty and inexpensive. Well worth the wait. There is no seating, so my boyfriend and I took our food to a nearby boba shop and ate there. This place is definitely«grab and go» so plan well and plan ahead!

(Chinatown) San Francisco: Yummies! Wanted a light, comfort food type lunch and, boy, did this place deliver! Foremost was a bowl of preserved egg/lean pork congee(«jook»), containing a fair amount of said solids in a nicely thick, flavorful broth soup base. The steamed bun was generously filled with red bean paste that was not too sweet, yet, was tasty. Recollections of childhood came to mind as I peeled the elastic skin that formed as they air dried before going into the steamer. I can’t remember what else I had ordered but I throughly enjoyed my alfresco lunch in Transamerica Redwood Park. Thank you, to Unilocaler Geoff G., for the long distance food recommendation! My comfort snack mini-feast was a perfect mid afternoon break. YUM!!!

I read about these places that people stand in line for in the big cities. Stand in line? WTH are you talkin about? 1000’s of restaurants to try that probably have NO waiting and you are the dummy standing in line for food? This isn’t Cold War Russia! This is America! Well actually it’s Chinatown, which is in San Francisco, which ultimately IS technically in The United States of America. So yeah… no waiting in line for this patriot! Well that is… unless…it’s my last day in the city… and like… it’s some Asian Holiday and my new friends really needed to try this place. So yeah. 45 minute line? No problem. I’ve done dim sum in the city before and loved it, this was no different. This was good food. Affordable and fresh and worth the wait. I could not stop eating the shrimp ones. Glad I only bought like 6 of those. But we went for breakfast meal time and it lived up to its name. Whatever that name actually means. I have no idea. I doubt that when you head over, they will be selling bags and bags of stuff all at once. So go in, and tell them that the white guy sent you… you know the one that looks just like all the other white guys? Yeah him.

I’ve been struggling to write this review, as I don’t know how to properly elaborate how good this food is and how much it means to me. I can’t, so I’ll just keep it short and sweet. Food: 5⁄5. Massive dim sum, with crazy explosive flavor. Don’t even need soy sauce like other dim sum eateries. Be careful though as they sell out of things by early afternoon(har gow, some buns). Shu Mai is the greatest thing there. Price: ridiculously cheap. Ambience: slightly stressful ordering process with cramped quarters. No longer cash only, can use cards now!!! Overall: my favorite dim sum place on the planet. Deserves to be in its own tier, as it’s way better than some of my other 5 star reviews. Best restaurant in Bay Area for me.

Good Mong Kok is one of the highest rated places on Unilocal in San Francisco Chinatown. I enjoyed what I had, but I am 3 starring it because what I had didn’t really blow my mind. I am definitely ignorant about what makes a great dim sum place, so know that before you trust my review. But on the whole, it was just ok to me. I had a pork bun which was really tasty, shrimp dumpling, and one other thing that I’m not entirely sure what it was. I told the girl shark fin, but she left off a couple things from my order, so who really know what was going on. The line was really long, and I went to another place down the street and couldn’t really discern the difference between the two.

Ode to the(long) Sunday Morning Line: Delicious food, I will wait for thee(for 40 mins) I will strike a conversation with thy neighbor(bonus if they speak English) Look at Unilocal for a pics/menu while in line(you have a 1 min window with staff to order) If all fails, yell frantically and point at a bunch of random stuff(everything is good anyway) It’s busy, in a good way. The food is delicious and all the items are fresh as can be. I recommend everything, but if you need to pair that down, then try the bao(try one steamed and one baked), the zhong(sticky rice wrapped in leaves), and at least one sweet pastry item and one dim sum item. This will give you a well rounded taste of the menu. This is the type of bakery that makes a Chinatown shine, and should be visited when in town. It’s one of the last to remain open while others have closed. BRINGCASHHHHHHHH.

After coming back from NYC a where we had some mind-blowing dumplings, hubby and I were craving some more. After seeing the reviews we decided to try it out. I haven’t had dim sum here in about 5 years, but it was just as busy and tasty as last time. I also have a girlfriend who can speak much better Cantonese than me, so I didn’t feel all awkward trying to use my Canto this time around! The wait was long, but not unbearably long. Sadly, they were out of har gow when we got there, so we ordered siu mai instead. They’re much larger than your average siu mai. They’re bigger, meatier, and tastier. You definitely should not miss out on these! Aside from siu mai, we tried ordering this«combination» pork dumpling and noodles. The dumplings were absolutely disgusting. It was not a combination at all. It had peanuts in it and some weird vegetables. Don’t get it, because it looks better than it really is. The chow fun lacked flavor and was kinda clumped together and hard. Just stick to the dim sum. The ladies that run the store are pretty rude, so don’t be afraid to be assertive.

This is a good place for people who have never been to Hong Kong or China before, and who have had limited experience with food that comes from actual cities in China instead of a Chinatown in a Western city. If you fit these criteria, take my review with a grain of salt, and, if anything, give this place a shot. I grew up in Beijing and my parents from Hong Kong, and I visit HK at least once a year, so I’m a lot more picky, and you shouldn’t turn away considering all the high reviews that precede mine. This review is mainly for those who are originally from HK or China and haven’t visited in a while and are craving proper Chinese food and are hoping that this will hit the spot(spoiler: it won’t). The skin of the har gow is too thick. The meat in the siu mai and steamed bbq pork bun taste weird(also the sauce in the bbq pork bun is strange too). As for the egg tart, it’s like they couldn’t decide whether they wanted the cookie crust or the pastry crust so they decided to combine both and make a mess out of everything. The custard part of the egg tart didn’t even taste like egg. Those were the few things I had, and I was extremely disappointed. The service was extremely rude, despite(or perhaps because of) the fact that my sister spoke fluent Cantonese to them.

I still dream about Good Mong Kok Bakery’s steamed BBQ pork buns. I don’t know if any dim sum place will ever measure up, which is sad because I don’t live in SFO. I highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a few buns and/or dumplings. The prices are ridiculous. we each paid less than $ 5 and had too much food, we couldn’t even finish it. I got two steamed BBQ pork buns, an egg yolk bun, and two pork shu mai. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The shu mai had a bit too strong of a pork flavor for my liking, but everything was still really good. It also tasted incredibly fresh, and the shu mai were so juicy! We ate at a sit down dim sum place the day after eating here, and I just wanted to leave that place and walk the 4 minutes to wait outside in the cold to eat here again. It’s that good. The only thing missing is xiao long bao.

Best Dim Sum in China Town. There is a reason it is the only place with a line out the door; and, almost everyone in line is Chinese. Since there are no tables inside, everything is purchased for take out. The Shrimp Har Gow, and the Shrimp and Chive Dumpling are outstanding. The Pork Shui Mai is really good. There is a menu board; so, you can order by the numbers, or point if you don’t know the names. They pretty much do everything really well. I personally I’m not a fan of the porridge; but, I know it’s an acquired taste. They accept Visa and Mastercard; but, I don’t know if they will do this for small orders(say under $ 10).

Went early on Monday and got there before 11AM. There was just a couple people in line ahead of me. Bummer that when it was my turn they only had 3 siu mai. So, for $ 11.80 I got 9 ha gaw(shrimp dumplings), 2 steamed cha siu bao(bbq pork bun), 3 hom siu gok(deep fried meat dumpling) and 3 siu mai. I also think they only have the steam shrimp and chive dumpling not the pan fried one. My uncle also got some deep fried wonton here which were excellent, but when I asked the lady behind the counter she said they only had frozen. Taste wise everything was fine, the ha gaw was better than some other dim sum places I’ve been to. The cha siu bao here were bigger than I usually get, as well as the ham siu gok. With the hom siu gak I tasted a little more of the black mushroom in this one then the meat and sauce. I prefer Good Luck Dim Sum on Clement, taste wise, selection wise and also because it’s cheaper, but Good Mong Kok is a good option since it’s a short walk away from the office. It’s still cheap enough for the area, but you can’t be the Richmond’s prices.

Best Siu Mai in town. In any town, really. I don’t quite get the satisfaction anywhere else but here. When I go to San Francisco, Chinatown is is about a 7 minute walk from my preferred hotel. The walk is manageable, and so is the line here. Know that there is always a line, anywhere from 15 – 25 heads at a time. So of course, when dropping off the luggage at the room, after freshening up, it’s to Good Mong Kok Bakery, first thing. Seeing this small take out store front makes me so happy. Siu Mai and Har Gow are my usual orders. Har gow tends to run out quickly, no matter the time you go. You’re lucky if a fresh batch comes out, like I was. Each are priced at 3 for $ 2.10. Now that’s an affordable and satisfying meal. I usually eat 2 of each, so then it’s really affordable now isn’t it. Steamed pork buns are great here as well. $ 1.10 each, so warm, full of pork. But, the Har Gow though, damn. Unlike anything else. I try to go more than once a trip, and I either eat it upon walking out, or take it back to the room, or stroll around somewhere and munch. I always over order thinking it’d make for a great snack later, or drunk food much later. I must admit, it is no good when it’s eaten much much later. Tastes funky, even when you aren’t sober. Bear the line, order enough, eat right away! And don’t ask for soy sauce, you don’t need any for the contents itself is already full of flavor. And you’ll probably get shit for it.

When planning out our trip, we knew that Good Mong Kok Bakery would have to be the first stop. Checked in, dropped off our luggage, and hiked our empty stomachs straight over. Shui Mai and Har Gow are a must order but come early as lines will get long and Har Gow will sell out. Flavor is so perfect that you won’t need soy sauce. Even better are the prices; 3 for $ 2.10! The Steamed Buns are large and stuffed with BBQ Pork at only $ 1.10. Unlike the Dim Sum in OC, you won’t get sick to your stomach after eating a bit of everything. Hell, I ate 6 pieces and still felt a longing for more. The Dim Sum here is addicting and personally, I swear off Dim Sum after every hungover brunch at Seafood Cove. At Good Mong Kok Bakery, I can’t help but stuff my face and ask for more.

To go dim sum is way better than sit down dim sum in San Fran in my opinion. Get here early like before 10 or 11AM to snap up some shrimp dumplings, cha siu bao, and shrimp noodle rolls because these sell out first! Hubs and I settled on 3 siu mai, 3 shark fin dumplings, a turnip cake, a box of chow mein, and two chicken buns for $ 10 since the above were sold out. The siu mai were meaty with the perfect amount of fat. The shark fin dumplings had pork, peas, carrots, and celery, and we didn’t quite fancy that mix in a dumpling. The pan fried turnip cake was smooth but didn’t have any bits of meat to our disappointment. The chow mein order was huge and was cooked with that«wok hay» so it was tasty and loose. The line goes quickly and they only take cash. Cheap eats with real ingredients.

Oh my god. The portions here are big. Bigger than other places I’ve been to. Probably the biggest I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I ordered a GRIP of dim sum and it only came out to $ 10.50. Their har gow(which is my personal fav dim sum dish) is the most juiciest I’ve ever had. It didn’t make 5 stars because of their aggressive/assertive customer service. This isn’t freaking New York. The ladies reminded me of the mean ass Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. It’s intimidating ordering here if you don’t know the language and don’t know what you want. They don’t like indecisive customers or customers who take too long to order. They just want you to get to steppin’ and get through your order stat. Anyhow, I’d definitely come back here again just for the har gow and that sweet egg yolk bun thing *drooooool I think they take card? The BBQ pork bun($ 1) was pretty big and had a decent amount of meat inside, especially for the price. I thought the pork inside was going to spill out when I bit in, but it didn’t, which was great. Enjoyed the taste. After I ordered the sticky rice bun($ 1) and tasted some sort of meat, I called to find out what it was. I was told there were bits of pork and shrimp inside… and maybe other things, but the employee wasn’t sure. Employees should know what’s in the items. Cash only. I was a little… let’s say delicate, from my Tuesday night out, so I needed some comfort food for lunch. I was craving jook!(Or congee, or Chinese porridge. Call it what you will.) I walked here from work on Wednesday, November 25th and arrived around 1:45pm. The line wasn’t too long. There were about 5 people in front of me. I got the following items: 18. Chinese donut(1) $ 1.35 20. Shui mai(3) $ 2.10 45. Preserved egg & pork porridge($ 2.20 large) The one thing I wanted was a little disappointing. The pei dan sau yuk jook(#45) didn’t have much egg. I actually added a whole egg when I got home. And it was super thick and kind of bland. The yau ja gwai(#18) was good though. Not too oily. The siu mai(#20) was okay. It was meaty and a decent size. I wanted to get so much more dim sum, but they ran out of of everything else I asked for:19. Shrimp dumpling(3 for $ 2.10); 39. Sticky rice bun(1 for $ 1); 42. Shrimp crêpe roll(2 for $ 2). It was a little disappointing, but I guess I can’t fault them for being popular and running out of items. Service is quick and curt as to be expected. Some might think they’re rude, but I’m used to it as I go to these type of shops all the time. It’s fast cheap eats, so I don’t expect much in terms of customer service. I probably would have given Good Mong Kok 3 stars, except the sanitary thing kind of grosses me out. The lady grabbing my dim sum and putting it in bags was wearing gloves. But then she took my money with those same gloved hands and went on to help the next person. Eeeewww!!! From the one thing I tried, decent dim sum. Porridge is just meh. I might try more dim sum if in the area, but I won’t be in a rush to go back. I seriously don’t get why they’re so popular.

Alright, I’m not sure if this is the best dim sum in SF, but it is pretty good. It is a tiny location where you just walk in and order what you want. It isn’t a sit down restaurant. I ordered the shrimp dumpling and shu mai dumplings. The flavors are there, the portions are huge, and the price is really cheap. It’s not the best dim sum I have tasted therefore I can’t give it a high rating. Also, I did notice that the ladies who are handling the food with their gloves are also taking your cash… Not sure how sanitary that is.

Dim sum that will bring back sweet memories from childhood! TAKEOUTONLY. GOEARLY! NOPARKING. FOOD: My friend and I shared the steamed chao siu bao and the veggie pork bun. BOTHWEREDELICIOUS. The bakery is definitely not stingy on the amount of filling inside these buns, not to mention that both of them were more than fist-size and were WARM. :D I really liked the chao siu bao — the chao siu is diced into small pieces and marinated with the right amount of sweetness. Yum! We wanted to try the baked chao siu bao and the chive dumplings but by the team we got there they were already out, plus a couple of other dim sum we wanted to try. However, we were not disappointed with what we ended up with! PRICE: Both buns together was only $ 1.80. Yes, you didn’t read that wrong. Most of the dim sum ranged between $ 1-$ 2. SETTING: It’s a whole in the wall — you line up outside of the store, order inside, and leave. Not ideal, but there is a lot of things to see around the area! Parking and driving are impossible. Don’t even try. OVERALLIMPRESSION: I grew up in China and the bakery and the food really remind me of childhood. I also like how not expensive the food is — which is how it’s suppose to be. Coming back again for sure!

When I saw the size of their dim sum, my jaw dropped! They have the absolute largest pieces of dim sum I have ever seen. To give readers perspective, they were about double the size of typical pieces! We came to this bakery after we realized Golden Gate Bakery was closed on the day we went and were we glad we came here instead. The bakery was basically a hole in the wall. There were no tables, no seating area and there was a wait out the door, but not because they were extremely busy, but instead because they could only fit a handful of customers in front of the counter. The type of dim sum they sold here was quite limited, but where they lacked in variety, they compensated with in quality. They sold some of the best dim sum I had ever eaten in my life! My girlfriend and I ordered a few dishes to go from here including the Pork and Peanut Dumplings, Shrimp Dumplings, Shui Mai and Turnip Cake. We were full from just a few pieces because they were so big! The quality was excellent though and we wanted to just keep on stuffing our mouths. It’s a huge downside that they have no seating area, but Good Mong Kok Bakery was well worth the trip to and I will definitely be recommending them to my friends who might visit SF.

GINORMOUS Dim Sum, and not bad quality either. Coming from the Toronto area, I feel so odd to get takeout dim sum and not sit in, but guess that’s the culture here. We came here twice in the seven days that I am staying in San Fran. I swear this place has a huge line from day to night, seven days a week. We ordered the custard buns, BBQ pork bun, Shrimp dumpling, Siu mai, Chao Zhou Dumplings. First off, the prices aren’t very expensive, the only one out of the items we got that were sold in one piece was the BBQ pork bun, which was ginormous. The shrimp dumplings were fairly good, the skin was a tad bit thick in my opinion, but hey, I’m from Hong Kong and live in Markham area, where it’s like dimsum heaven, so I guess I can be a bit biased. The siu mai was mediocre in my opinion, the meat was seasoned pretty well, but there wasn’t enough of the yellow wrap on the sides of the siu mai. The custard buns come in three, and man, I haven’t seen custard buns that large before. The bun was fairly thick and there wasn’t enough paste, nor was the paste as sweet as they usually are, but still pretty good find! Delicious and not too expensive dim sum! Come here if you are in San Francisco!

If you’re looking for a place to find cheap food for a good portion, this is the place for you! We ordered 2 pork buns, 6 siu mai, and 6 shrimp dumplings for about $ 10 and we didn’t finish it because it was very filling. My favorite out of the three would be the siu mai. The pork bus we’re okay, but the shrimp dumplings were bland. It tasted like nothing to me and wouldn’t get it again. Line here builds up so allow about 10 – 15 minutes to get your order in.
