The vibe up here is more dark and intimate than Hawker Fare downstairs. They specialize in «island style» or «tropical» drinks made the way they originally were, before the tiki scene popularized sickly-sweet versions in the 70s. My drink(and those of my companions, which I sampled, natch) was smooth and bright and not at all sweet or cloying. However, as is the case even with the sticky blue versions of these drinks that you can find elsewhere, these libations are potent! So be careful… and maybe eat something from Hawker Fare downstairs on your way out :)

This is for the upstairs bar: big space, but bar tenders are super rude. Smells bad. Overpriced.

Stumbled on the place while I was waiting for a table for downstairs. My Hawaiian shirt bartender was the homie. Nice little space up here. Cocktail list looks very nice and had some good material on there.

I like this hidden gem of sf! Got there on Wednesday eve, after 8 it gets pretty crowded for such a hidden place. Drinks are really nice, and bartender was really friendly and helpful, answering my 1001 questions about drinks

I didn’t know this place existed until yesterday as it’s tricky to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Situated inside Hawker Fare, this bar is up the staircase on the left and in the same building. It’s worth the flight of stairs to check it out :) It’s a low lit area with plenty of tables and a great spot for a late night drink and nibble. Holy Mountain is serving up great cocktails and has a very small menu of food. Quite different than the restaurant below. I didn’t have enough time to eat but, of the 5 – 6 items on the food menu, the fried chicken is going to get terminated the next time I visit. Instead, I opted for a gibson martini(my favorite) with extra onions. They have a great selection of craft made spirits and I chose Botanica Gin from the East Bay because you have to go local! The bartender was super friendly and stirred up our drinks in a hurry but, with precision. Cool dude. All in all, a solid stop. I want to try the food before potentially bumping this place to 5 stars, so stay tuned for the updated review. In the meantime, get yo gibson martini on!

A spacious bar with a great theme(tip: watch Holy Mountain the film before going and you will probably be even more delighted with the atmosphere). Chris is an excellent bartender on a weeknight and he will likely do right by you, so if you have the means to tip generously, send it his way M-Th(maybe). P. S. The Odd Job(High Balls) are an excellent baseline drink.

An awkward place with snobbish service that made worse by attitudinal server who refused to serve double whisky, but would be okay to serve two single shots in two glasses but not without letting her know that it is a way to game the system. I enjoyed the scene as it was amusing to say the least, as the said woman was a responsible 40 something who was both sober and polite. She was enjoying a rare night out with her friends and they had ubered their way through the town. Another friend said perhaps one should evaluate the bar’s coolness by how many men sporting facial hair. Another out of town blonde bomb shell complained the utter lack of attractive and forward men in the bar. It was, at the time 11:45 pm and way past my bed time. I asked for water and the bartender was quite polite about serving water and informed me where to fetch more water. It is the location that wins its reputation of being a hip bar as it is tucked away from Hawker Fare SF, and true, it is not a pick up scene nor a place to get superb shots but I find it an excellent place for conversations. It is quiet with ample space to sit around. If I wanted to get attention from dashing men I would have gone to Union Square’s hotel bars and be 20 years younger, If I want a good view I’d go to Jones, or if I wanted outrage coupled with porn star sighting opportunity I’d go to my favorite spot in the Mission: the armory club. But I did not make the plan, these other ladies did and they were utterly disappointed. I understand their frustration. And I think a good bar should provide good service. I don’t know what this bar is intended to be. It felt confusing. I was happy however, all the chaos and mishaps with the bartender made excellent story for someone like me who rarely drinks. And yes their spicy margarita was good. I had a sip from my girlfriend’s glass.

This place is okay. 3 stars for the«secret location» but otherwise I would suggest other bars. It was crowded and very hot(humid) and stuffy. Drinks are on the expensive side and nothing too great. We were able to get a big group in there so I guess I will add another star for that but this isn’t a place that I am dying to go back to.

Really expensive and really obnoxious crowd. Won’t come back, could definitely have chosen a better place to stop in at. But hey, at least they have booze. That’s worth two stars.

Tasty drinks that are tucked away from the commotion of Valencia.

Great drinks, although a bit on the sugary side. Come early and grab a booth, the place gets crowded after 10. We had the pussy galore and it was fantastic.

Why haven’t you come here? It’s everything SF peeps love! 1) Damn good cocktails 2) Foodie bar bites served late 3) Mildly dirty sounding drinks because James Bond! 4) Pseudo secret location(walk up the back steps) Part of hf restaurant aka Hawker Fare SF. Its called Mountain. Holy Mountain.

Even with the stairs leading up, on a quiet night you’d not really know there’s a whole different bar upstairs. I guess with the Warriors winning it was crazy in the Mission. However I had a quiet drink as the world went crazy outside. SAMOANFOGCUTTER: rum, gin, brandy, orgeat and lemon juice; a float of cream sherry. Pretty boozy but it hits you late. Not until I got onto Bart did I really feel it. Holy Mountain!

Kind of tough to find — it’s up a staircase in the back right corner of Hawker Fare. Great little bar, was the second stop on my tour with one of the owners of Avua Cachaca. They had the two-year aged version so we sipped it straight instead of doing cocktails. The ambiance is cozy and I like that they have tons of glassware options so you’re always drinking from something that feels right for your elixir of choice.

Big space, room for groups, tasty drinks but minus one star for it being crazy hot and stuffy. In addition to the bar there are plenty of two tops, a couple large booths and several tables. Drinks are southern style, bucks and hurricanes. Service was fast and friendly and I appreciated getting a fine cocktail without undergoing a ton of elbow shoving to get to the bar. A nice hidden gem… for now.
