Ignite the Mic SF

I keep coming back for the easy loving vibes, the warm atmosphere, beautiful space, delicious food, and the consistently and surprisingly high quality of talent each week. Hats off to this Open Mic, one of the best I’ve ever been to.

This is the best open mic I have ever been to and participated in. The love, the energy, the people, the location… Everything is just right up my alley.

I’m usually too lazy to write reviews but for Ignite the Mic I just had to. The space has an incredible warm, magnanimous feeling to it. There is a very legitimate sound set-​up for any kind of live music, they have a bar, awesome (vegan!) food but most importantly it draws the most amazing people. I’m constantly amazed by the quality of performances by it live music of traditional kind (guitar, drums etc) or more obscure instruments, be it poetry or prose reading, stand up comedy or what have you. If you are an artist who is shy or intimidated at the thought of sharing of work I cannot recommend this event enough. The audience is always welcoming and so loving: Papa Bear the M.C. of the event gives everyone a hug before and after they go on stage. If you like live music or inspiring or funny poetry or prose you’ll be amazed at the quality of performances. Come check it out!

This night attracts some AMAZING talent, and it is in a beautiful setting. Not to mention all the beautiful people who live at The Center are there!

OmG! What an eclectic and talented group of performers — I diddled out some tunes myself and the audience was quite supportive as well!

Ignite the Mic is consistently a source of incredible undiscovered talent. It’s more than your typical open mic experience — there’s certainly a mixture of all shapes and forms of talent, though this open mic in particular has more amazing performers in one night than I’ve found elsewhere. This place has true and undeniable spirit.

I have lived in San Francisco for 6 years now and when I first moved here I used to go to Open Mic nights all the time to listen to local musicians. I took a break for a little while because the talent all seemed to be about the same every place I went. But then Ignite the Mic started happening and it ignited my heart with music again. I have never seen such amazing talent in one place let alone in such a beautiful comfortable setting. Everyone that runs the event is very welcome and nice. It’s well organized, everyone is so respectful. It is such a treat to spend an evening at The Center listening to amazing musicians, poets, and comedians while meeting such friendly people. Even though I am not a performer, I will be back for sure!
