I’ve bought a few pieces of art from Inclusions and the Lisa has always been very educational and helpul. I purchased a mystic ceramic piece from Collette Crutcher a few years ago and recently purchased a Linda Larson oil painting. Today, a friend and I stopped by and found a variety of local jewelry. It was nice to get insight about the artisians and mediums used. This art studio is a gem in Bernal Village

Asian-Americans Beware! Be Prepared To Be Insulted by the Gallery Owner! I’m an Asian-American filmmaker who had his film shown at the Inclusions Gallery on Aug. 31st as part of the line-up for the recent Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema Season’s «Film Crawl on Cortland Ave». I showed up for the 7pm hour of screenings so I could introduce my film to the audience. The gallery owner(whose name I forget but who stated that she is the owner) spoke to me about making a brief intro of my film, with the emphasis on «brief», and then she stunned me by using a racially-insulting phrase at me. She said to me, «It’s gotta be ‘chop-chop’.» I mean, you don’t really have to be all that enlightened to know how that phrase is racially-derogatory towards Asian-Americans, specifically towards Chinese-Americans. When she said that to me, it was terribly upsetting & thoroughly demoralized me. I found it especially surprising that she used that racist phrase at me since her gallery is named«Inclusions» Gallery. It was hard for me to believe that she used that phrase ‘out of ignorance’ considering her«Inclusions» Gallery & this being San Francisco with a Chinese-American mayor. If she did use that phrase at me out of ‘ignorance’, I find it very sad indeed how racially-insensitive she is, particularly towards Asian-Americans.

Inclusions has beautiful jewelry, much of it made by local artists, some wall art and a spectacular collection of Buddha sculptures from Nepal. Not sure what a previous reviewer meant when she complained about the«vibe» in here — I thought the owner Lisa was warm and polite when I wandered into this gallery one sunny afternoon. Definitely stop by if you’re looking for a gift for someone special.

I live in the neighborhood and have been to this gallery several times, back when it was Venus and now that it is Inclusions. I have to say, there is something strange about the«vibe» now that wasn’t there before. I keep trying to figure it out. I think something weird happened between the former owner Giorgio and the current owner Lisa. It may be sunny on the outside, but inside things seem a little shady. It’s too bad, it used to be a great spot.

Great art space on Courtland. Another business that adds character and makes my hood vibrant. Needs something to hang on the wall or artistic jewelry? This should be on your list to check out.

Awesome jewelry and art shop, if a bit expensive. But that didnt stop me from buying a bunch of stuff. I cant help myself when presented with unique jewelry. Owner was friendly. The shop has a nice vibe.

I like this gallery, I like Lisa, I like the jewelery and I like the art work. I have bought a couple of original paintings and some prints; all of which are hanging with pride in my home, I buy jewelery for my Mum and for me, and I bought a belt which I love. Prices are fairly high, but everything is so beautiful that a treat every now and again is a good thing… in fact I have to limit the amount I go in because I like everything so much!

It’s bright and airy, totally feels light and pleasant, I love my visits here. And yes, I’ve brought home some lovely treasure. .. .a few jewelry pieces by Suga, a black leather cuff with a crescent moon in white, and a stunning hard to describe silver bracelet from a Nomadic tribe in Northern India(the owner can tell you more about these people than I can) Every friend I’ve brought to Inclusions has loved it too. The owner(Lisa) is a delightful person. I so enjoy my visits to her store and with her. We always manage to have lively and insightful conversation which leaves me feeling all is good with the world. I also like that they are open late at night!

i don’t know why my review is not showing up. so here it is again: This gallery is such an asset to Bernal Heights. I am a Bernal local and since its re-opening in December of 2007, Venus Gallery has been a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The art on the walls never disappoints. Every six weeks something new goes up and it’s always unique and beautiful. The jewelry in the cases is amazing! I can never not try something on. Most of it is local and all of it is hand made one-of-a-kind quality stuff. The prices range from around $ 20 to about $ 300, so you’re bound to find something you love *and* can afford. If you find yourself on Cortland St. go into this great gallery, say hi to the owner, who’s always friendly and so knowledgeable about everything she carries. She takes the time to talk to you and answer any questions you may have about the art or jewelry without sounding like a sales person. great place.

Oh the jewelery here is so unique — it sure drew me into the store! Beautiful hand crafted pieces that are all one of a kind! Only if I could afford them!

When Venus Gallery first opened in Bernal I was definitely disappointed. The art was not terribly high quality and didn’t draw me in at all. But, all of a sudden there’s new, more interesting artwork hanging on the walls and(gasp) jewelry in the window! Beautiful, finely crafted jewelry! Prices are a bit high; I’d give them five shiny stars if they had more of a range of prices.

On my hunt for Avedano’s Butcher I took a walk up Cortland and came across this gem of a gallery. Lisa took time to talk about the artists without feeling like she was giving a sell. She knew her stuff and was very passionate about each and every artist hanging or displayed in her gallery. I bought my first piece of art. In fact I bought two pieces. This is a place to watch and a fantastic edition to Bernal Heights!

This gallery is under new ownership! And great ownership at that. The woman’s name is Lisa and has a great background in jewelry and art. She is nice and easy to talk to. with that being said, the gallery is amazing. Fantastic jewelry at a variety of price ranges. The jewelry is both local designers and antique pieces from around the world. If I had found this gallery before I started my xmas shopping I probably would have bought all the ladies on my list pieces from here. Oh and the art is wonderful. I am a self proclaimed art snob. I hate a lot of the art that is out there. There was nothing in this space that i hated. There were pieces that I would give as gifts and more importantly pieces that I am considering for my own home. Do your part and support local business and designers. Shop here for unique and cool items.

Interesting little addition to beloved Cortland. I’ll give them a stacked rating. One star because the layout and ambiance is very nice. One star for the free food and drinks on opening night. One star for bringing art to the neighborhood. One star for luck.(hopefully they won’t need it but they are about the fourth or fifth business in that space in the last year or so)
