Went to Gary on the recommendation of a friend, and so glad I did! He’s a great conversationalist(and haircutter!), and it’s nice to support a local business owner over these trendy corporate owned shops that try to pass themselves off as being hip and authentic, but charge you an arm and a leg for it. Having to make an appointment isn’t so bad either, when so many other hairdressers in SF will put their walk-ins on an hour long waiting list.

Gary’s haircuts always come out perfect, and we always find stuff to talk about. I have no idea how I used to go to Supercuts at this point. The results were always different, and I’d have to explain how I like my haircut every time. With Gary, I just make an appointment, stroll in, sit down, and leave my worries behind. I’m going to miss Ingleside Barber Shop when I move to Oakland next month :(

Gary is the man. He spent hella time on my hair… He is super personable. I never thought I’d have one person I will get my hair cut from for the rest of my life. I now have a soul haircutter haha.

Consistently excellent haircut. It looks good the whole time it’s growing in, and that’s never happened for me with any other haircutter. I’ve been going there for years.

I love the old-school barber shop style. The location has parking around it too. I got a great haircut at a good price in an awesome environment. Gary is an awesome guy that can hold a real conversation. I’m glad this place exists for people who hate chains like Supercuts, yet don’t want to pay premium prices at a fancy«salon». Remember to make an appointment, as the place is pretty busy. Extremely generic review aside, this place really is awesome. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better haircut.

Gary is the man! You can expect to come in here and know that you’re getting a great haircut and worldly advice. Gary is super laid back and knowledgeable about all topics: current events, sports, anything San Francisco, life advice, etc. His shop is awesome. It’s got a retro and kind of a Mediterranean feel to it. Also, he has every relevant magazine known to man in his shop. Might I add that this is a family-owned local business that’s been around for years. He’s in-demand, so be sure to call for an appointment!

My regular barber was booked through the week so I had to get a quick haircut to clean myself up for my soon to be god daughter’s baptism. I found this place through Unilocal and went to the 7×7 link on the review and thought it seemed pretty legit. That and it is on the same block that one of my friends lived on which means I wouldn’t get lost trying to find it(I’m horrible with directions). Gary gave me a standard taper with a trim. It looks great. He is also a talker and keeps GREAT conversation(talked about music and SI/SH rivalry during my cut). Super chill and really nice. The cost is pretty much average to what I pay at my other regular spot. Since this place is closer, I could definitely see myself coming out here more often.

Ingleside Barber Shop is a small, family-owned business in SF. It’s the best place for a haircut, stylist, and/or coloring. Gary & Liza are the coolest barbers. I’ve been going here for years for haircuts, blowouts, and colorings. I’ve lived all over the Bay Area and I have to say it’s pretty convincing that no matter where you live, you always go back to the barber shop that makes you feel at home. The bottom line, if you want the best haircut, styling or color, come to the Ingleside Barber Shop and you will instantly become a long-time client.

There are some people who just take great pride in what they do and can turn anything into a fine art. I went to see Gary after reading some really great reviews about this place on here. I have to say, even with pretty high expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did my haircut look great, he saw me without an appointment and made it a really cool experience. The price was great too, the same as my old place(which wasn’t nearly as good). I’ll definitely be going back for my future haircuts!

Gary is as good as it gets. You won’t find a better haircut, a more personable barber or a finer hair cutting experience in the state of California. When I lived in Los Angeles, I specifically drove up to San Francisco just to get my hair cut by Gary.

How can I add to what has been said about Gary — its alll true he is awesome. My only complaint is you have to make an appointment, no drop in’s because he is in demand.

Gary is a San Francisco monument. He’ll line you up right — the man has been cutting hair since he could hold scissors and he shapes your hair just right. I’ve been going to Gary since I was about 12, and I can probably thank him for helping me evolve out of the side-part look of my youth. While the man cuts a good hair, that’s almost secondary to the ambiance and conversation you get. Gary spits some legit talk(girl advice, career advice, sports, politics, Sicilian history/culture, really anything) and always has you feeling like a new man after your cut. The shops ambiance is perfect too — clean, crisp, stylish, without seeming too bourgie. He’s got a plethora of magazines to choose from while you’re waiting, including some quality men’s mags, but throw the reading material aside while you’re getting your hair did because Gary’s gonna spit some knowledge at you. Make sure to make an appointment at least 4 days in advance because Gary’s cutting hands are in high-demand.

I’m a tough reviewer otherwise they’d get 5 stars. I’ve always gotten my hair cut close to where I worked. A long time ago that used to be in the financial district. Relatively expensive barbershops, waits(even with appointments), rude barbers, and lousy haircuts. More recently I would get my haircut by Onsite Haicuts in my office parking lot. Since that’s no more I had to find someplace new… and I think I lucked out. Reasonable prices, wash included. On-time. Friendly, clean, professional. What more can you ask for?

I’ve been going to Gary & Liza for over 12 years and they are quite the team! Not only do they cut & style a mean do, they infuse the atmosphere with an array of different conversation topics, close knit friend and family appeal, chill music… The ambience to say the least is crme de la crme. Definitely my 1 and ONLY choice when it comes to doing my do!

So I’ve been going to see Gary at IBS for 17 years — used to actually commute here from Sacramento when I lived there for 5 years. This guy is incredible and I’m always happy about my cut. Super reasonable and just a great atmosphere. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in SF!!! Only problem you might have is getting an appointment… doesn’t that say it all?
