The best is that the gentleman who runs this place is super nice, he wants you to enjoy the food and you’ll have kids running around, it’s a friendly atmosphere. The other reviews are right, it’s low key and not fancy kind of like a cheap breakfast place, no décor really, but the food is good and its a mom and pop for shore. The man told me that they make the tamarind water themselves and it is GREAT. This neighborhood needs more places like this.

Iriana’s is closed, but the owner who took it over still serves Salvadorian food and the Pulpusas are really good. The new owner fixed it up on the inside and is very helpful in helping you decide. The new hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. This is a great place for a light and cheap lunch.

Please note this place is open until 7pm. I went there for dinner This is the kind of place that reminds you of going to your friend’s house and their mom is cooking! Is not fancy, but clean, the food is not trendy, but tasty and I have to say the pupusas are not greasy! its perfect for when you don’t feel like cooking, but want to eat a home made meal… This is not a place for a date, your date will think you are cheap and my not appreciate the family friendly atmosphere.(OK. maybe like the 40th date) They are very friendly so don’t be afraid to ask questions about their menu, they have *tried* to translate the menu, but I notice a few things were lost in translation. This would be a good alternative to ELZOCALO as parking may be easier and it won’t take a hour to get your pupusas.

I hate that this place close so early! Because whenever I want to get pupusas after school it is always closed at 2:30 when I get out of school at 3! But they open at 7 in the morning! But I wished that they would open until like 4 or something but they do only serve breakfast! Very good pupusas I got the native veggie and cheese one, there was hardly any veggies it in though, but it was still good. It is about $ 2 for a pupusa. The lady is very nice there. Their coleslaw type thing is way too salty!

Delicious Salvadoran breakfast to be had here! Fried plantains, beans, eggs, crema, and tortillas. Filling and yummy, and just slightly different. The interior is standard diner, and the menu is diner + the Salvadorean specialities. The service is nice. I am glad this in my neighborhood, and I need to try the lunch sometime!

I had a great weekday breakfast here after visiting Portola Family Connections down the street. I had a Salvadorean breakfast with eggs, beans, platanos, and crema. Delicious, great price, and good bottomless cup of coffee. A lot of older neighborhood types were there having breakfast, and the waitress seemed to know them all — nice community feeling.

Don’t go here without an appetite. Really great food. Nothing fancy by any stretch but man was I full by time I walked out. I have been here 3 times and each time it was awesome. Kinda like Mexican Food but not.

I’ve been in this neighborhood off an on for nearly 35 years. When this place was called the Avenue Sweet Shop, I used to frequent it for breakfast during my morning walks. This restaurant was the last of the dying breed: a real coffee shop from the 50’s with booths, coat hangers, and a true soda fountain. Back in the day, the Italian and Maltese families, who once dominated the neighborhood in population, came here for their morning grub and checker games. You could over hear their conversations about the Giants, the Niners, and everything in between. It was always entertaining to eavesdrop. Fast forward to today, the restaurant has changed a bit. Gone is the old time American cuisine, but you can still see remnants of what it once was. The soda fountain and counter is still there as is the giant mirror behind it, but the booths and coat hangers are gone. Man, I miss those booths. The old timers still come here for breakfast and it’s still entertaining to eavesdrop on them and catch their stories of yesteryear. I occasionally will stop in for pancakes, but I hadn’t tried anything else yet. I guess papusas will be next.

An alternative to our usual greasy, fattening, unhealthy McDonald’s run. Iriana’s…I applaud you… you are saving my life. I love their waffles… and they give a LOT of sour cream for the Huevos con Chorizo… just the way I like it. An American/Salvadorian place… pretty good combo if you ask me.

I go here when I gotta have fried plantains, beans, and cream for breakfast. Sometimes I ask them to make the Salvadoran empanadas for breakfast(it’s on the lunch menu) and they usually can do it. They rock my anglo Saxon world!

2 pupusas for under $ 4 — and they’re tasty, too! They have meat, cheese, bean and cheese, and cheese and loroco. I haven’t had a chance to try anything else, plus I love the pupusa so much that I can’t resist them. The lady who runs it(possibly Iriana?) is so sweet. The place is clean and has lots of diner seating, including at the counter. I wish they stayed open for dinner, but I usually get my afternoon pupusa fix once a week or so here.

This is a new Salvadorian restaurant on San Bruno Ave. They’re open from 7am — 3pm, Mon — Sat. The décor is standard diner. It’s pleasantly clean, if not very well-decorated. The owner is super friendly, and the place has a mellow neighborhood vibe. They offer a full breakfast and lunch menu with the usual items, but they also have a variety of Salvadorian specialties. I *highly* recommend the pupusas! Best I’ve had so far! Yummmmmmmmm!!! Sabroso!
