Its a laundromat. No its an ice cream parlor. Or wait, its a bakery. How about all of the above? What will they come up with next? A plumber that can also do your taxes while waiting for an oil change? Anyway, was looking for Joeys but I guess they have new owners. Inside is Mitchels ice cream in standard freezers like a normal ice cream parlor. In back are washing machines? Weird. I guess while waiting you can have something to eat. Might have been better if it was a sports bar/laundromat. I had a scoop of toasted almond. Since it was typical Mitchels quality, I can’t really rate the ice cream itself. I actually wanted an Avocado scoop, but noticed there was a knat lying in it. Presumably dead or just in an ice cream coma. On this day, there was a spot inside where there were literally 5 – 10 flies just flying around in a holding pattern. Generally I hate flies in food establishments, but I wanted ice cream. And since this is the only place in the area, it will have to do. So if you don’t mind the flies and the smell of laundry stuff, and maybe live nearby, then its not so bad coming here.

New owner and name: Sunshine Laundry & Café. I hope God looks out for the old owner Joey, his coffee, sausage & cream wherever he may launder. They still serve ice cream and had some cakes on display under glass. Sat evening visit gave me one disinterested employee behind the counter with East Indian music blaring. No menu or board with prices, you have to ask how much things cost-I don’t like that. They are probably going to get some.

Joey’s looks like a laundry. the rear part is. the front has a service counter. mitchell’s ice cream is offered. went for the coffee brew:(m 1.40) –so smooth, better than mcdonalds, starbux –from italian beans drips: –lots of iffy characters hanging around outside –wouldn’t make a special trip here. –reviews mention sausage no longer available.

Get the Mexican Chocolate ice cream! The ice cream they serve is from Mitchell’s. Not a fancy place, but we definitely got our ice cream fix while wandering away from SF Pride 2013.

Laundromat part looks like it is just fine. However, the food/café part is nowhere near 4-star. Some crapped up chairs and tables in front of a laundromat. Mediocre coffee at Starbucks/Peets prices.

I do laundry here only because I live next door. The machines are run down, about 1⁄3 being out of service at any given time. At least half the overhead lights are burnt out. Ventilation is poor, sometimes woefully inadequate. Lots of(literal) crackheads do their laundry here. The coffee is nasty. The staff used to suck, but lately nicer people are working there. THEREISNOSAUSAGE.

Imagine my relief when I realized I no longer had to travel South on Jones to Eddy to do my laundry because a combination laundromat/ice cream parlor/coffee shop — with WiFi is actually closer to where I live. It’s a bit more expensive but that’s fine. Just being able to hang out, have a coffee, get some work and laundry done makes this place second only to home as far as convenience. I’m baffled by the sausage claim and I approve of the dino-décor. ATM? Hours? IMPORTANT: Laundromat does not take change — you are given a re-loadable card. Don’t take all your quarters there and expect the counter-help to give you bills.

Good news: You can still do laundry and get ice cream. Bad news: You no longer can get a sausage and espresso. I think.

How have I not written a review for this place? I live a few doors down & come here about once a week! How did a place like this come to exist? Joey woke up one morning and decided that ice cream, espresso, sausage, and laundry would make the perfect business plan? I guess so, because it’s kind of amazing. I have to admit that I haven’t used their washers & dryers because there are some in my building, but the price is right. I go here for the $ 1.50 coffee and the prepackaged cheese danish or Costco poppy seed muffin – just so cheap, I can’t resist! The people behind the counter are always SO nice. Although, the ice cream looks quite old, the pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling makes up for it. I love this place!

I’m so happy!!! this place is CLEAN and the guy working here is SUPERFRIENDLY, played cool music and never stopped cleaning! No lugging quarters since they use rechargeable cards. The washers are cheap at $ 1.75 for top loading. Lots of yummy treats to snack on while waiting and WiFi. No bums, no crackheads or people shooting up in corners or street women steeling clothes from dryers! Did I mention how HAPPY I AM?!

This place is hysterical. I needed to use their ATM machine and decided to check out their ice cream selection. Nice choices — I had NY Cherry and Vanilla Bean. Nice large portion in the cup and not crazy expensive. Kinda funny to see a couple people in the back doing their laundry and checking out the goings on in the front of the place. This combination of laundry, ice cream and coffee is funny. I might venture out to try the coffee and the wifi next time.

I’ve walked by Joey’s Ice Cream, Espresso and Sausage(and don’t forget wash & dry!) every day since I moved Loin-side and every day I’d crack a smile at that sign. Like, when somebody sat down to make a business plan were they like, «Wait! Wait… wait! I’ve got it! How about we have an ice cream parlor that serves not only coffee but SAUSAGE! And wait! While people are eating their sausages and ice cream, they can do… wait for it… LAUNDRY! Yesterday I decided to lady-up and give it a go… the ice cream that is. No sausages needed at this time. It was surprisingly good. I ordered the chocolate caramel crunch and I loved every ounce of it. I’m so happy I finally got past their bazaar sign and decided to park my judgment at the curb because I’m going to be enjoying their ice cream for months to come.

The ice cream selection was great. I was quite impressed by the flavors they carry and that it was not just any ice cream, but Mitchell’s ice cream! It was actually cheaper and they give you more than Mitchell’s too. Unfortunately, there were some tubs of ice cream that looked like they haven’t been touch in a long time. John B. has a good point that it’s a great place if you want at least 2 of the three choices: ice cream, espresso, sausages, and laundry machines. Otherwise, it’s not that great for any of the single things. I mean, it’s not exactly a pleasant place and it was super stinky at this one particular spot next in front of the ice cream. The coffee took incredibly long to make. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever be stepping through here again because there are better laundry places, better coffee places, better sausage places, and better ice cream places. If you absolutely must have the laundromat with food experience, then I would suggest heading to the Brainwash Café.

A wash-and-dry that serves Mitchell’s ice cream and sausages? When I passed this place on the street, I knew I had to go in. Mitchell’s is probably the best ice cream place in San Francisco, but the downside is there is usually a substantial wait(last time we went it was a 30 minute wait at 10:30 at night!) Joey’s has a decent selection of Mitchell’s flavors and no wait! Plus it’s cheaper!($ 2.65 for the small size, which is quite a bit of ice cream — bigger than a single at Mitchell’s.) The ice cream is super thick(as is characteristic of Mitchell’s), so it is a challenge to eat with their weak plastic spoons, but it is so worth it. I didn’t see any sausages in sight, and frankly, I was a little afraid to inquire(a fellow reviewer assures me they are in a freezer somewhere). Too bad — I think the universe would explode(with joy) if Joey’s served Mitchell’s ice cream AND Rosamunde sausages.

Forest Gump should change his catchphrase from«We go together like peas and carrots» to «We go together like sausage, espresso, ice cream, and laundry». It’s something a lot more people can relate to. At least on the corner of O’Farrell and Jones. I finally stopped in to quench my curiosity this Saturday and ordered an italian sausage sandwich. The preparation process went something like this: –Guy rummages around in the freezer for a sausage for about five minutes(do people actually order these?) –Guy finally finds sausage and nukes it for about 5 minutes on high. –Guy plops it on a regular-old foreman grill for another few minutes. The actual end product wasn’t bad, and I’d get one if it was a convenient laundry stop. But if you want a GREAT fresh sausage, stop by Rosemunde in the Haight or Top Dog in the East Bay.

5 stars, without a doubt, even though I know nothing about this place except that is has wonderful signs and an amazing hodgepodge of services. After a few drinks at Bourbon and Branch, the existence of the place may or may not have caused my friend to pee her pants. PTERY D anyone?

Their is color and jazz to this Lovely laundry in the ‘loin, I enjoy A smoke by the door where I watch The crackies moan for your Money and time. Those inside hold children close, or chew on grilled sausage, soda in hand, computer screens leave a glow on their faces Free wi-fi leaves a glow in my heart. The Thai man at the counter smiles, even when a crazed woman tries to storm the bathroom, or beg his clients’ change he smiles, when i ask for extra napkins and doesn’t charge me when I ask to upgrade my soda to the larger size. As I leave, my laundry bag tugging at my shoulder My laundry basket squeezing against my stomach I press my nose into my warm scented towels and sigh. Joey is a genius. But what on earth does«D Petry» mean? And what is with the pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling? It doesn’t matter now; off into the night I go Back to my overpriced tenderloin studio.

Their official name is «Joey’s Ice Cream, Espresso and Sausage.» That NAME… I couldn’t resist. I wish I had thought of that name first, except I would have made it a little more descriptive… maybe something like: «Kristina’s Back Fat, Caffeine Shakes and Clogged Arteries.» Bleah location, and no parking… but Joey’s has a little bit of everything… add to that, Laundry and Internet Café, and your day is set.
