Husband got a gluten free flourless chocolate cupcake here. He said it was awesome — did not taste like it was missing anything.

Hi Unilocalers, I placed an order for 30 different variety of mini cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday to bring it to her school. At the time of order, my total was $ 67.00. When I came to pick up my orders today, I was charged $ 83.00. I questioned why and I was told«oh sorry we did add in the gluten-free orders and plus I was charged for 35 cupcakes not 30 like I have ordered. I didn’t appreciate that.

Super cute and convenient for gifts!!! They have so many different flavors that were so tempting — carrot, smores, white chocolate, red velvet, dark velvet … And many more. Great location as well with metered parking right out front.

I hate cake and sweets in general, but I purchased some cupcakes for my daughter and husband. I had a taste of all four, and they were delicious! 4 stars instead of 5, only because I just don’t understand why it costs so much for a single cupcake…

These cupcakes aren’t very good. I found a recipe online a few months back that were better then these overpriced ones. The cake it self had no flavor and the frosting was to oily and way to much on top of the small cake. I would save your money and go elsewhere or look online for a recipe and do it yourself.

The cupcake was very Mediocre. I expected better but then again Kara is a star and does not care about her quality overpriced cupcakes. Now on to the worst part, the cupcakes were unsanitary. I was looking inside for a nice cupcake and what I found were multiple flies crawling on the cupcakes. The first thing that came to my mind was to tell one of their employees. He gave me a lame excuse that their flies are not controllable. WELLOFCOURSETHEYARECONTROLLABLETELLTHATTOTHEHEALTHDEPARTMENT!

Mediocre at best. Waaaay overpriced for what you get. I ordered the Chocolate Velvet cupcake with soft serve ice cream(6.50 – gah!!) and was expecting something truly delish and satisfying to my momentary sweet tooth craving. What I got was a cupcake that was dry and soft serve that should bow in shame to Ikea’s. It was THAT disappointing. Also, what’s up with the extra«Healthy San Francisco» fee??? I came in for a cupcake – Not to pay for your employee’s health insurance(that I’m sure the poor part-time teenager isn’t getting?) Never again Kara. Never again.

We got to Kara’s Cupcakes and, of course, it was packed. My friend Clint had warned me about this, but I didn’t care. I wanted to taste the delectable goodies! When it was finally our turn to order, there were so many delicious cupcakes looking back at me. My friend ordered four, so I did the same. I got one Chocolate Velvet cupcake(chocolate cupcake with a velvety bittersweet chocolate buttercream), one Sweet Vanilla cupcake(vanilla cupcake with sweet madagascar bourbon vanilla frosting), one Kara’s Karrot cupcake(moist carrot cupcake with a silky soft cream cheese frosting), and one Java cupcake(chocolat cupcake with a rich espresso buttercream). The cupcakes really tasted like pure heaven. SOOOOGOOD! I totally recommend this place if you have a huge sweet tooth like me :)

Cupcake wars!!! Stumbled upon this little bakery on accident. Had 4 cupcakes sweet chocolate, red velvet, sweet vanilla, and double chocloate. Cupcakes were delicious and moist. Cost about 15 for the four regular sized cupcakes. There are mini’s and ice cream cupcakes available. It was a great find. Parking is on the street with the meter.

Solid cupcakes that are delicious. Though I can say they’re not drop dead status. I had the pumpkin spice(which was delicious), red velvet, and chocolate one! The icing was a tad too sweet Still worth the stop and their store is cute!

Ordered $ 120 worth of cupcakes for my husband’s birthday. Many of them showed up with strange decorations — SF49er’s, Bike MS, etc. Totally random stuff, which I assumed was some sort of mistake — a special party? I called to complain, and the operator(Patrick) said these were«normal» decorations. Luckily I’m not a Dallas Cowboys fan. I finally asked for a refund for the cupcakes in question(about $ 30 worth), and Patrick said a manager would call me. Two days ago, and no call. These are cupcakes, not crack or plutonium. There are other bakeries.

I’m from the South Bay and have been to the Kara’s Cupcakes at Santana Row several times. I was here with a couple of friends for«Ghirardelli’s Go Dark Earth Hour» event and we were hungry after roaming around San Francisco. One of my friends commented how the cupcakes at Kara’s were really good(this was to a friend that recently moved here) and she wanted to try them right away! Kara’s doesn’t use artificial flavors which is what makes it amazing. Unfortunately for my friend, she couldn’t get a red velvet cupcake but she did love the chocolate velvet cupcake! I’m personally a vanilla girl so I stuck to Vanilla with Sprinkles! After all that chocolate at Ghirardelli, Vanilla certainly balanced the flavor.

Kara’s! One of my weaknesses. 5 stars for the banana caramel(don’t get confused with the plain banana) and red velvet cupcakes, my all time favorites. I came in here yesterday and luckily grabbed the last banana caramel cupcake, along with the red velvet, hazelnut, and java flavors. 4 cupcakes came out to be a little over $ 14. The java and hazelnut flavors were okay(I’m a hazelnut and coffee fanatic), but my favorites still remain red velvet and banana caramel!

I love baking cupcakes so when it comes to actually purchasing them I get hypercritical about everything. The person who helped us was super nice and we chose 4 cupcakes. Carrot, vanilla coconut, salted caramel, & fleur de sel(? Can’t remember the name) Delicious! It wasn’t overly sweet and the cupcakes were moist and tasty. Perfect combo between cake to frosting and the flavors were great. Will definitely come back here again for some tasty sweets.

The chocolate with decadent coconut frosting is my fave. Kara’s cupcakes are second only to Susie’s. The mini cupcakes make me feel less guilty. Smart move, Kara’s Cupcakes. Smart move.

Came right when they opened. Fresh lemon cupcake with lemon frosting, lemon cake that was soft and a gooey lemon center that was a nice surprise. A bit pricey, though I think all cupcakes SHOULD be mandatory $ 2 max but hey, i’m not about to make my own so good bye money!
