An amazing store with an amazing purpose. They sell fair trade jewelry and goods made by artists in Kenya. I was astounded by the craftsmanship that went into all of the pieces. The staff at the store is also very helpful and will give you the history behind what went went into the pieces including the significance and for what the pieces are traditionally used. This for one I love because it is not everyday that you know what went into making a good you are going to buy. All in all, I think everyone should check out this store to see this cool store!

Super-cool jewelry awaits you at Karibu Kenya Staffed by single mothers on part of the plantation that was owned by Karen von Blixen(Out of Africa) each piece is hand crafted & painted All kinds of different colors, shapes & patterns… it was hard to choose I opted for 2 necklaces(for now) but definitely want to go back in the very near future & check out their scarves & decorative bowls!

Umm, yeah, this is one hidden gem. We only stumbled upon this jewel of a Kenyan art/gift store after having lunch at the Fountain café yesterday. All the items in the store are beautiful and for the authenticity of everything being handmade, prices are surprisingly very reasonable. They have a great selection of place mats and bowls that I just couldn’t stop drooling over. I came across a gorgeous bag that my sister would love, thought I would buy it for her on a whim, but figured it would be out of my price range. I did a double take when the tag read $ 35! AND they had the same work of art in many other colors. When I went to pay, the woman who helped me(Sales Associate? Store owner?) was super nice and offered to exchange the bag for a different color if my sister wasn’t satisfied w/the mud red I had picked out. Great, great, great store, really worth exploring if you’re in the vicinity and love African handcrafts or even just have an appreciation for them.

For my money, the only legitimately cool store in Crocker Galleria. A lot of handmade African jewelry and gifts, mostly bought directly from the artists — working craftswomen in Africa. Cool stuff, check it out a California-based, socially responsible company helping out people in a strife-torn land halfway around the world. I felt especially good about buying my mom an Xmas present here because of the global fair trade principles. I should take a camera just to get a pic of the proprietor and her beautiful baby daughter. Cool peeps. Cool joint. Maybe there’s hope for this mall after all.
