This place is the best place on Chestnut! The staff is super friendly and will accommodate special dietary restrictions! Great place if you are vegan or vegetarian too as they have lots of veggie options and know how to make most things on the menu vegan. The food here is definitely made with love and everything I have had had been stellar. Great place to go when you want to chill and have a drink or just a quick to go meal, plus eat24 delivers so you can eat it when you are craving it! Highly recommend!

This is a good dinner addition to the Marina. I ate with a few buddies who live in the neighborhood and recommended this great spot. We shared delicious hummus, donner kebabs, Adana Kebab Wrap, Kofta Wrap, and the Lamb and Beef Gyros Wrap. The meats were well seasoned, juicy, and delicious. The pita was fresh, hot, and tasty. This is a great spot for good kebabs, is family friendly, and has room to eat inside or to go.

Had to send gyro back. To much sauce, meat not hot. No point serving side of bread with gyro — doughy flatbread. Music excessively loud. Go to GyroKing

I work at the Palace of fine arts, so I wanted to try new place for lunch. Kobani does take out as well as dine-in(and I saw a few guys drinking some beer too… which I will definitely try next time!) I ordered the chicken gyro wrap lunch special and it was delicious! The chicken was moist and the wrap also has lettuce and a special tsatziki sauce. It was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be back!

Excellent food. Always fresh and tasty. Have had pretty much every thing in the menu, and you can’t go wrong. My favorites include the chicken shish kebab plate as well as the chicken gyro. Everyone who works there is very attentive and friendly. One of my favorite places in SF.

Homemade, authentic and unique for the area! Please every time i dine in or out. The service is great as well. It seems to be family run so not sure if that makes it even better. First time i came they gave free baklava! They make everything fresh! They bread and red lentil soup is divine. HIGHLY recommend if you’re looking for a quick but chill lunch.

I had the lamb and beef gyro plate(includes rice and salad). My girlfriend had the Kofta Wrap. The bread provided before the main meal was soft, fluffy and really good. The plate was DELICIOUS. However, I am sad because my girlfriend’s wrap was too messy. The paper used around the bread was somehow FUSED together with the bread, so she had to take it apart at times and slowly pick at it to make it come off. YUCK. Too much of a hassle. Avoid the wraps, ask for less sauce, or maybe a paperless wrap if you are eating there.

We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Inside is fairly basic but comfortable. You order at the back, grab a number and sit down. We started with a hummus starter, it was mild and tasty, I like my hummus with a bit of kick but this was still nice. Then we got a lamb and a chicken plate. The lamb was a bit too fatty and the chicken was mostly good. The options on the plate are a bit of an odd choice with 2 different types of pilaf(it is like having double rice), a basic lettuce/tomato/onion salad, some chunky bread(I wasn’t sure what to do with this bread) and tzatziki on the side. Next time I would substitute tabouli for the salad, replace one of the pilafs with some hummus and ask for flat bread.

Being a new bumbling vegetarian it is hard for me to find tasty food without tofu. I came in smelling the amazing meats grilling & sighed as I ordered the mezze platter. To my complete surprise it was the most amazing meal I have had in a long time. Owners– please open one in the castro/noe! Do everything the same. I will come everyday!

Wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Clean, bright and great experience. Get the hummus and try the salmon plate, arugula salad with lamb and baklava! The owner is very sweet and came by and refilled our glass if wine for no charge. wow, great experience and excited for this place to be successful. Great for carry out or sit in for a very causal meal. wonderful!

So happy this gem has moved into the neighborhood. This is the best(casual) Mediterranean cuisine I have had in SF. I highly recommend the Lamb/Beef plate and Chicken Shish Kababs. Do not miss out on their hummus! Service at this place is the best!

Being Turkish has made me pretty«selective» when it comes to Mediterranean food. I’ve had the good, the bad, the bland & the over salted, however, Kobani is none of the aforementioned… Kobani is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Everything we tried was outstanding– Meze Platter(ahmayzing), Adana Kebab(my fave & perfection on a plate), Chicken Kebab(perfectly seasoned & grilled), Pilaf & Couscous(divine), Kazan Dibi(addicting), Baklava(almost as good as mine), Kunefe(no words… yup its that good!) and of course Turkish Coffee(on point!). If you like EXCELLENT Mediterranean food and service to match, do yourself a favor & check this place out!

When I think of gyros, I think of pillowy soft pita, ridiculously awesome-flavored meat shaved off the spit, cool yogurt sauce, and fresh tomatoes. When I think of gyros, I DON’T think of dry, stringy, unseasoned meat, floppy thin lavash, and a general lack of flavor. Sadly this was what I got at Kobani. I am all about supporting small, local businesses and restaurants, but I can’t just give them an undeserved number of stars. However, I’m more than happy to go back and give them a second chance to see if they’ve upped their game.

The food here is spectacular and the hummus is some of the best I have had. However, Kobani will be out of business in 18 months like the 3 – 4 business that previously occupied this space if they don’t wise up and make some very basic improvements. For starters: get a website, get a Facebook page… Do something to market the restaurant and build awareness. Right now, when you google Kobani, all of the results are about the conquest of Kobani by ISIS, a decidedly unpleasant search result. Next, build consistency. I order the same thing every time, and sometimes it comes with yogurt and chili sauce and sometimes it doesn’t. I want this place to succeed, but they need to grow up and be a 21st century restaurant.

This is the 2nd location and it compares favorably to what I experienced in Turkey. Kobani is the name of the Kurdish town that was under siege by ISIS, at the Syrian/Turkish border. The wrap I had was ADANA a nice beef mixture with a tangy smooth creamy, red pepper sauce. It was very tasty as prepared. Some of the other things worth trying are Kofte, and Hummos, and especially the totally unique Kunefe I did not try it but will next time but at its best it is a crunchy shredded wheat top filled with soft cheese and in the last few minutes of cooking, syrup infused with orange blossom is poured over the top. Garnished with chopped pistachio nuts. People on the floor were nice, and the prices were very fair, they make everything to order so you will be waiting a bit for your order. It is casual and the interior is more suitable for a quick bite than a long sit down.

Randomly noticed this place as I was getting a cab out of the Marina. Caught my eye because the sign is a Kurdish flag, so I had to try it. My mom is an Iraqi Kurd, so I had to bring her here when she came to visit me. The food was very good, and the staff is super friendly. I was actually really digging the vibe, since most Mediterranean joints skimp on the décor. We got the Combo Platter and the Mezze Platter, as well as some baklava to cap off the meal. The dolma and hummus were great. I really liked the Adana Kebab, which is basically a lamb burger patty. Finally, the baklava was on point. Ultimately, the food was solid and the atmosphere was chill. The location is good, as well, since you’d be hard pressed to find similar fare in that area.

My man friend and I took our Greek friend to the Marina for a quick bite and stumbled upon this new spot. We had our pup as well, so the outdoor seating was very convenient. The Greek and I ordered the Moussaka and my manfriend had a chicken wrap. The wrap was a wrap, and although the Greek says my homemade Moussaka is better(and I’m Central American) everything was very well presented, delicious and service was super friendly. The house salad also had the perfect amount of sour and spice, so fresh, yum! Too bad we didn’t leave enough room for the rice pudding… next time.
