Their udon spicy chicken soup is yummy for a cold day!

I usually enjoy eating sushi here, but tonight was an absolutely awful experience. My boyfriend and I decided to do the«all you can eat» option after an evening of climbing, and he service was awful. They missed half the things we ordered, they kept forgetting to bring us back the menu to order more, and then they forced the cheque on us halfway through because they were switching servers. Although this last point wouldn’t normally be too big of an issue, in this case they charged us an automatic 15% gratuity with no precedent as to why, which left us halfway through our meal having already tipped them for horrible service. There was therefore no incentive to even try to continue serving us… which really showed. All in all a terrible experience here tonight. Extremely disappointed with this place.

I came here on Tuesday(1÷5÷2016) and Thursday(1÷7÷2016) for dinner with my boyfriend for dinner since it was near The Opal Hotel. I really liked the All You Can Eat(AYCE) sushi here but it’s pretty expensive if you want to eat here. It is $ 29.95 per person for all you can eat. This does not include tax or the mandatory tipping that is included into your bill… The Pros– — I’ll be honest, thirty dollars for all you can eat is not bad but I felt like it was a bit over the top. — The people here were pretty nice and quick on making food. The Cons– — Everyone is given a two hours limit but by the first hour, they already gave me this check. This did not happen once but twice. I felt overall, very rushed and they kept coming over to refill my cup even though there was a lot of water left. — There is a mandatory tip that is included into the bill that I didn’t even know about till I actually checked and calculated myself. — I felt like there was too much noise and music so I really couldn’t hear well even though my boyfriend was just across from me!

I really like the seafood and sushi here. Great rolls that taste delicious and look appetizing. Bentos are also huge servings and scrumptious. Overall a very chill, friendly environment. Also, very conveniently located on Van Ness.

Sorry, but this place just isn’t good. I came here with a coworker for the first time and it’ll be my last. First off, they didn’t provide us with the happy hour menu, so we had to ask for it. It also took a while for our server to come take our order. We ordered the Kyoto Roll, Giant Roll, and Baked Scallop Roll. The Kyoto roll is exactly like a dragon roll, but they just changed the name. This roll was actually pretty good. The Giant roll has unagi, salmon, avocado, and snow crab. The snow crab in the roll was extremely dry and the texture kind of ruined the dish. Lastly, the Baked Scallop roll wasn’t even baked. They torch the top of the roll to cook the scallops but the rice at the bottom is still cold. The service was overall okay. The server was nice, just not attentive. The quality of the sushi was not good. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Bento box: Salmon teriyaki was good, not so much the gyoza, which I’m used to being pan fried, not deep fried, couldn’t finish it. Seattle roll, which is cooked salmon & avocado — didn’t smell right, couldn’t finish it. That being said, the miso soup was fine and the dinner salad was fresh with excellent dressing — and service was very attentive. Probably won’t be back tho…

I was really hoping this place would surprise me and end up being a great bang for my buck, but I was disappointed. Got the bento box with sesame chicken and the Seattle(salmon and avocado). –Sesame chicken was soggy and basically tasted like tempura covered chicken. :/ –The Seattle roll was pretty bad. I’m about 99% sure it was canned salmon. It looked and tasted canned. –Gyoza wasnt good. Made a joke to the bf that my frozen then fried gyoza is way better.(It is) Thank goodness for soy sauce and wasabi for magically making any bad roll/app…average. l They do have $ 11 dollar pitchers so it would be an okay place to pregame or something The hunt for a good cheap sushi/Japanese restaurant continues.

Awesome food and great service!!! I went there for both lunch & dinner and tried their rolls, bento box, and Korean BBQ. The staff were very attentive, sushi is fresh, portion is generous, and their all day beer special price is unbeatable. The restaurant is huge, so it is a good place to come with a big group. I will definitely come back to Kyoto Sushi!

We ate here for dinner tonight and the sushi was fresh and tasty. You know you’re at a great sushi place when the line is out the door. I would recommend the dragon roll.

Not far from my work, so a few friends and I went to try this out. They had a number of speciality rolls and we all ordered something different and I got the Warriors roll(they also had a Raiders one, and despite that being my favorite team, the Warriors one sounded better to me). The roll was incredible and flavorful and everyone enjoyed their choices. Then, the lights dimmed and laser lights came on and they pulled out a smoke machine and the place became sushi disco. I’ve been to some sushi places that do karaōke but this was my first time at a sushi disco. It was quite a trip. But the food was great and we had fun there. Check it out!

Came here a while back for a birthday dinner with a bunch of friends. We mainly chose this place because we wanted to pre-game and they offered 99 cent Sapporo on tap which is a great deal at any restaurant. I don’t quite remember what I ordered which meant that the food wasn’t too memorable. Service was pretty fast and friendly though. Overall, if you are a drinker and have a bunch of friends I would recommend coming to this place and drink up! Pretty much every body gets the Sapporo! Take advantage of the deal lol

Been here a few times. Service is pretty good, sushi is just okay. Today we stopped in for the first time since they started the«all you can eat sushi»($ 25 lunch, $ 30 dinner). We were just stopping in for a couple of rolls, but perused the special all you can eat menu and policy. You can see my picture of the policy, but to sum it up better be prepared to clear every last bite from your plate that you’ve ordered. Kind of ridiculous, but whatever. On to the rolls we ordered. I don’t remember the rolls having soooo much rice in the past, nor do I recall the toasted sesame seeds on top. Not a fan. The rolls were pretty flavorless other than the sesame seeds. So if you’re starving and desperate for food and don’t want to walk another couple of blocks, then this place is okay. Otherwise keep on trekking.

This restaurant started an «all you can eat» dinner special. It is a very good deal. The sushi is made to order. The restaurant has a large menu, some items are a hit or miss. I think the place deserves more than three stars. They also started the«all you can eat«lunch special which is slightly cheaper.

In an effort to try all the places in my work neighborhood, I decided to give Kyoto Sushi a try for their udon noodle soup. I arrived for lunch and sat at a small table. I ordered the Seafood Udon Noodle soup and a hot tea. I was given a nice small salad with miso dressing, pretty great for a starter. The soup arrived in a hot pot, it was large and stocked with ½ small crab, scallops, shrimp, calamari and pieces of fish. The broth was delicious and it was very full of vegetables and udon noodles. Very comforting. I ate half of the soup and took the other half to go, which made for nice leftovers. One bowl would make a nice warmup for two on a cold day.

Excellent rolls, spacious seating, average prices. The fish is not fresh catch of the day but it is good! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal!
