Very few of us glide our way through life from end to end without at least one event that exceeds our emotional defenses. That loss of control or fear of decision making was a 180 for this Chicago-boy. We were taught to push thru or drive over the obstacles. At first I was taken back by his obvious gentle manner. After several sessions, his words began to ring true in my stressful work environment. To live here means to live in one of the most exciting places in the world. It also means one of the most stressful. I thank Dr. Lai for helping me through a most disturbing time in my life. We all know it is not 1998 anymore. Teenagers aren’t handing us five million dollar checks for a server, but I learned somehow to laugh even when it seems no options are present. I like to laugh. I forgot what it was like.
